Ronnie Brewer Dealt To Memphis (Why couldn't we of picked him up?)
Ronnie Brewer has been been dealt by Utah to the Grizzlies in exchange for a protected first round pick, according to a report from Ross Siller of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Utah would move under the luxury tax under such a scenario and also free up minutes for other wing players.
Don't you think this could of been a good pick up for us to at least explore?

I'm not too beat up about it.
I like our Brewer better. Ronnie can’t shoot or create for others, so he’s not a great fit with our other wings. Most importantly, he’ll be a RFA at the end of the year. He’s due for a raise, which would cut into our cap space. If we could re-up him cheaply, maybe he’s a good pickup, but if he wants too much or if someone else offers him something we’re not comfortable, then we’re forced to sacrifice a ton of our cap space or to lose him and our 1st rounder for nothing.
Oh, and I just looked it up, and it turns out that entire first paragraph is moot. Memphis was able to get him that cheaply because they were under the cap. This allowed them to send back no salary in return, allowing Utah to get under the luxury tax line. We’re over that cap, which means we couldn’t have done this deal.
