Jawai to D-League
Not sure if means anything, just passing it along. Per Jerry Z:
"The Wolves have sent Nathan Jawai to Sioux Falls in the NBA's Development League so he can get extensive court time and play back-to-back games.
He is expected to return to the Wolves Sunday after he plays games tonight and Saturday night against the Dakota Wizards.
Jawai went nearly a month without playing a minute for the Wolves. He played eight minutes against Oklahoma City on Jan. 20, then didn't play again until Tuesday in Detroit and Wednesday in Washington.
If you're a huge a Jawai fan -- and who isn't? -- Saturday's Skyforce game will be shown on Versus cable network at 11 p.m."

Jawai
Unlike Hollins, who already has had years of D-1 and NBA experience under his belt, Jawai has not played upper level ball really until this year. I like what I see, even though he hasn’t really produced. You can tell he just has a much better natural feel for the game. I think he needs more reps at the NBA level, not D-League. Kurt should be playing him more regularly.
Agree
I love Nate’s innate feel for the game. He just needs more experience and conditioning. I’m alright with this move, as playing time is playing time for Jawai, no matter where it occurs. I also like that it sounds like the team is interested in keeping him around next year, unlike Tucker. Gotta feel for that guy – to go from Phoenix (where there were obvious reasons why he wasn’t playing) to here and still not play?! That sucks.

The D-league should be used this way
Young talent should go there to get playing time. What’s the harm?
If I ran the league, almost every young player would start out with a stint down in the minor league, even the high picks.

Agreed
More playing time for developmental purposes, without having to give what would be more productive minutes in a veteran’s hands to a rookie. I guess I just like the fact that it would lessen conflicts of interest. There would be fewer Darkos and Ty Thomases out there.
One wonders...
… what would have happened had Darko gotten regular D-League burn and not gained (essentially) a year of rust on his game. To me, that guy is not only a ‘bust’ but a huge ‘what if’.
Jawai
The reason he doesn’t belong in the D-League is that he is our 3rd best big behind Love and Jefferson. He should be getting minutes in our existing rotation because he shows the most upside potential, certainly more than Hollins or Pecherov. If he were buried behind a stacked frontcourt, then yeah, it would make sense for him to be in the D-League. But that’s certainly not the case here.

"Upside" doesn't always mean you're the better option on the floor right now.
Particularly on a team with lots of young talent milling around, playing them all at once can be worse for everyone’s development. I just have no problem at all with spreading some of that out by using the d-league.
Frankly it wouldn’t matter to me if it was Hollins or Pecherov drawing the minor league assignment, though I know you can’t do that to vets. It should work that way, though. Whatever. Give young players who aren’t seeing the floor much some playing time.

A fan
I have really liked what I have seen from him, when he was getting more than a min or two and settled into the game his instincts were very high for a big man. His handles, vision, speed, size, rebounding are all better than Hollins. Only thing he has is a few more inches, a better vertical and a smoother jump shot but you should expect that being in the league 4 more years than Jawai.

If you want him to get experience in the D-League
why only send him for one back-to-back?
Won't someone think of the ping pong balls?
Kurt Rambis - stop this insanity!
Knock the rust off, I guess.

Confidence?
Just look at the gophers, they could compete with almost anyone and then lose playing Indiana. Maybe they just want him to beat up on weaker opponents for a couple games to get his morale up.
