I know a 14 win team can't have a 'must win'

but the guys cannot get blown out tonight. They really have to have a chance to win in the 4th. Schedule gets brutal, we need to compete tonight.

Al Jefferson's defense. Sigh.

A disjointed Kings possession in which they fumble it, almost lose it, have it bounce outside, the Wolves cover…. And inside Al is ripe for the picking. Two points.

Rrr.

Trait of depressive individuals.

Basically you could call it “black and white.” If everything isn’t perfect right now, it’ll never be anything but an absolute failure.

We’re all pretty beaten down and depressive at this point in the year. Rambis will never figure out that Love deserves more minutes. Jonny will never distribute well, can’t finish and never will…. All that.

"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."

OK...

I would think saying “Jonny Flynn sucks and will never get better” would be a more relevant example of this. I was merely pointing out one facet of his game. But getting to learn the term “binary thinking” was cool.

Pathetic

I have season tickets for basketball and football. I’m reasonably content with the hoops program, however, when I see what is being allowed to happen to the hockey team, I realize I might as well quit buying football tix today, because if hockey is allowed to fall apart in this state Maturi can’t hold Brewster accountable.
BTW, quit giving me the crap about Lucia losing guys early, he can get anybody he wants from Minnesota. Find good players who want to commit for three or four seasons. Oh, on another rant, NHL teams don’t want to pull guys from college and start paying them any sooner than they have to, they only do it when they get nervous a guy isn’t being developed.
Lucia is living off his laurels, won titles with teams consisting largely of Woog players. Unfortunately, Woog was too stubborn to bring in the one guy a year from outside MN that could put him over the top, or the titles would have been his.

The pick is almost officially the Wolves

traded the 18 (Lawson) for about the 16 this season, not sure that worked out all that well, but probably worth the effort for a higher pick.

by Rumblebee on Mar 14, 2010 11:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Oh, are you kidding?

Even without the CBA rumblings, the draft this year was already deeper than last. Any on-the-fence collegians who fret about a lockout are likely going to declare this time, too.

If that pick’s at 16, it’s worth well more than 18 last time. That’s setting aside whether the team’s able to effectively use the picks it has — but in terms of straight value, that was a good example of…. What did Kahn call it, “monetizing” the pick? That.

i would have to agree

what bothers me is he gets to start no matter how much he *(&%s up. i know the pg position is the hardest to learn, and there is no veteran pg presence on the t-pups. collison is kicking a$$, but he has Paul in his ear every second he’s not playing…which i’m sure helps. i’m afraid he will end up as another ben gordon type player…which is not worth the 6th pick (or 10 million/year!!!!)

by nodnarb on Mar 14, 2010 9:34 PM CDT up reply actions

I think they will regret

not using Sessions more and forcing Flynn to earn his minutes. Still can’t get too mad over not taking Curry since he sent bad vibes, but in hindsight they really should have traded Flynn for a future #1 (say this year) and grabbed Lawson with the later pick.

by Rumblebee on Mar 15, 2010 12:02 AM CDT up reply actions

It's worse than that to me...

He is the Ryan Hollins of PG’s. He just doesn’t get anything about being a PG. Doesn’t know how to run a break, run a PnR, or set up a teammate for a bucket.

On D…well…I kind of want to vomit. Can’t stay in front of anyone, and still hasn’t fought over a single screen all year. I’M SERIOUS! I challenge anyone on Canis to find ONE example of Jonny Flynn going over a screen.

Oh, but he has “athleticism” and “upside” apparently…

I hope he starts Sessions/Ellington/Wilkins/Love/Darko

next time they are all healthy…. as for next game whoever of them is healthy and Sasha, Pech, or Jawai.

i wonder if rambis wishes he would have accepted the sactown offer...

….and I wonder if the maloofs are thanking their lucky stars he declined.

I don't think Rambis lost the players - coming back next season

mainly because I think only about six guys will be back (Serious). If they bring in three draft picks, trade a couple players and bring in a couple free agents they will only bring back about six players if they shorten the roster to the minimum 13.
But, if the same thing happens next season, he will definitely start losing guys. Assuming players stay healthy, they won’t be able to blame ACL’s and wrist injuries going into next season, they are going to need to show progress. Assuming they get a good draft pick, they are also not going to be playing for a top 3 pick next season, which should give them an incentive to “shoot” for 30 wins next season.

by Rumblebee on Mar 15, 2010 12:17 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm losing it...

I followed the Wolves for years… but I’m tired of watching this years Wolves… constantly getting crushed by teams that are bottom feeders in the league… at least be competitive. I like the face that we had 4 assists on 49 points… how awful can you be?

by FunnyBrew.com on Mar 14, 2010 9:44 PM CDT reply actions

I remember about 15 years ago

I was finally starting to realize how silly it was to keep rooting for a losing team and hoping for lottery luck. Then they got lucky and grabbed KG, hopefully this summer is similar.

by Rumblebee on Mar 15, 2010 12:18 AM CDT up reply actions

Anyone still think

Jefferson is this team’s best player?

I don’t think there is one word that can describe how ugly this is. Maybe a name? A picture? Yes. A picture. This is how ugly the Wolves have played in this game:

Sorry sir, that you must be compared to this team…

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 9:46 PM CDT reply actions

Westphal just called a timeout

to tell his team to take it easy on us so we don’t get our feelings hurt.

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 9:47 PM CDT reply actions

PS...

Pavlovic getting burn is a joke. I’d rather they suit up a random fan for a game.

by FunnyBrew.com on Mar 14, 2010 9:47 PM CDT reply actions

He should have never been signed

waste of money that could have been used this summer. STUPID!

by Rumblebee on Mar 15, 2010 12:20 AM CDT up reply actions

Just saying the money could have been spent this summer

for a better player, rather than wasted last summer on a lousy player, especially when everyone knew this was about a 25 win team.

hell suit up the coaches!

by mistertoad on Mar 14, 2010 9:48 PM CDT reply actions

We just played the equivalent of

a 36-10 quarter. We were down 48-54 with 3+ left in the first half. Twelve minutes later? 90-58. Are you effing kidding me?

by CaliWolf on Mar 14, 2010 9:49 PM CDT reply actions

Fortuitously, I stopped watching right with 3 minutes left in the half

I won’t bother asking how we went 10-36. I have a feeling I’ve seen it before. The question is why did I bother checking back in?

by dropstep on Mar 14, 2010 9:53 PM CDT up reply actions

Somehow

we managed to score 13 points in 15.5 minutes. And gave up 40. We’re down 33 to the Kings. We are going to lose 20 games in a row and suffer through a winless March. If we can’t even compete with the Kings – the Kings for crying out loud – we have no hope.

'It's just noise coming out of an ugly scientist.' Michael Scott

by CaliWolf on Mar 14, 2010 9:58 PM CDT up reply actions

And the worst thing...

Is that I’m OK losing 20 in a row, if it’s a TALENT thing, but it’s not. We have no coherent offensive or defensive identity. If I’m a rookie coach of a bad team, my only focus is imprinting an identity on the team…then getting better players.

Rambis has not put one single stamp of an identity on this team at all…

to be fair to rambis..

….this team may have only about 3 keepers on it. we’d bitch about it 10 years from now a’la musselman eeking out victories with crap in the first few seasons if it costs them draft picks.

Good point

Those Rambis teams produced a few coaches, but not many impact players. In a decade, half this team will not be remembered, similar to the 1989-1994 Wolves.

I was just about to suggest that.

This team doesn’t deserve a tasty Korean dish.

and well rested, Laimbeer would destroy Hollins. Next day is spent in the whirlpool!

by Rumblebee on Mar 15, 2010 12:24 AM CDT up reply actions

THE STREAK?

I feel like once it ends the bottom will fall out of Brewer’s confidence. Sick feeling about that.

by TheH on Mar 14, 2010 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

In a way, I'm glad this is happening...

The worst thing that could happen tonight is for Kurt to think he can play without Kevin and Darko…

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 14, 2010 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

& Ellington, maybe?

by WillistonCoyote on Mar 14, 2010 9:56 PM CDT up reply actions

ugly

wow. Rambis says the team needs a win and they pull this? They can’t be tanking this game, these are just his best ideas as far as winning rotations. Kurt, may you be a genius.

by littleboxes on Mar 14, 2010 9:59 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah... Ugly

These rotations are absolutely putrid… not that he has a ton to work with…

by FunnyBrew.com on Mar 14, 2010 10:02 PM CDT reply actions

I think Ellington has earned minutes, too.

We don’t have a wingman, may as well start him. he can shoot.

"It's not too far; it just seems like it is."

by WillistonCoyote on Mar 14, 2010 10:06 PM CDT reply actions

If Kurt truly believes in "meritocracy"

Our starting lineup should be: Sessions, Ellington, Brewer, Love, and Darko.

Sadly, this will never happen, and I’m embarassed to say that I thought Rambis would be a good coach. Even if we’re tanking (which I believe we are), he is handling it poorly.

"I'm gonna make you cry...I'm gonna make you cry and dip my cookie in your tears!!!"

by mutleyil on Mar 14, 2010 10:11 PM CDT up reply actions

I think we can write off the tanking thing once and for all

you don’t lose by 30 points just to tank. And you don’t tank that much with the lottery killing us so much. And if we were tanking, I’d think we could at least try to win for a couple games until we were even relatively close to catching GS… I’d like to think we are better than we are too, but the sad truth is that we are just that bad.

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:16 PM CDT up reply actions

I take this back

somehow Jonny is back in. We’re tanking.

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:19 PM CDT up reply actions

sounds like a good lineup, but still smallish.

He doesn’t have any guys that are defenders, except maybe Darko.

"It's not too far; it just seems like it is."

by WillistonCoyote on Mar 14, 2010 10:17 PM CDT up reply actions

No offense...

But calling that lineup “smallish” couldn’t be any less relevant, considering every other lineup is horseshit.

Brewer is the only one undersized

and even then it’s only cuz he is skinny.

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Do you think Evans

was close to a triple double? I wonder if the Sacramento announcers think he already earned it…

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:10 PM CDT reply actions

Wow.

Corey 1-6. three points. Against…..nobody. Would have been better to have the streak stopped.

…just to end the streak in a game that doesn’t matter.

I say we give it to him

just because he is out there still caring. How many other guys can you say that about? Sessions and Ellington?

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Also

props to Pecherov for taking 2 shots in 2 possessions… wait he always does that… but they were open shots!

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Hey...

did one of the announcers just asy something intelligent?! They were talking about needing the triple double to earn ROY for ‘Reke and one pointed out that if people don’t know anything more than the boxscore they shouldn’t be voting. Thank you sir for rivaling your partner’s idiotic point with sense.

by Mplax on Mar 14, 2010 10:26 PM CDT reply actions

That would have been Jerry Reynolds (Smart, goofy old guy)

smacking sense into Grant Napear (Scarlett-haired Douchebag)

God, i hate Napear..

I watch alot of Kings games, because my brother is a Sacramento fan… goddam is he one of the most (possibly the most) annoying announcer in the NBA. Jerry Reynolds on the other hand, i like.
