Anybody staying up for this one?

We have been strangely competitive with PHX the last few years.

Atlanta sat Joe Johnson...

…and Harris was hurt for Jersey. Jersey got crushed by 24 at home and now stand at 7-60. The must go 3-12 to avoid tying for the worst NBA record ever.

Well, you know.

Thought I get that out of the way early :)

Oh Corey

4 possesions, 2 dumb TOs, a brick and shot blocked. I guess it can only get better from there.

Jefferson is not pretty?

How can you watch as much hoops as an NBA play-by-play guy and think Al is not pretty?

Richardson with 10 points...

…and three absolutely blown attempts at the rim. Yet another dynamic wing playing like a HOFer. Why must every game remind us of the same defects?

Odd thing is...

Our wings are outscoring theirs at HT.

Kevin Love looks like he is shrinking and his arms look more like dough every time I see him.

by Stay classy, Joe. on Mar 16, 2010 9:34 PM CDT reply actions

I've thought the same thing lately

Wonder if their are behind the scenes issues as far as how much effort Love is putting in to have an NBA body. Something about Love is bugging Rambis. He keeps talking about energy…not good when the guy is 21.

by Rumblebee on Mar 16, 2010 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions

I think Love's tired of losing.

A lot of these guys come into the NBA and they’ve never lost in basketball consistantley, I’m sure it’s a pretty big change.

by Bad News Wolves on Mar 16, 2010 9:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm sure that is part of it

but guys who start moping and playing soft when they are sick of losing make me nervous.

Can you believe Phoenix once scored 107 points in the first half vs Nuggets…pre-Nash…in 1990.

I was at that game...

Can we play this game over and over on a loop, and make Jonny watch Nash with his eyelids propped open “Clockwork Orange” style?

Well on the bright side,

we had a good night on offense, on the down side we gave up 79 points.

by Bad News Wolves on Mar 16, 2010 10:09 PM CDT reply actions

Field Goal Percentage

Phoenix shot 67% in the first half, including 56% from three. I would have 10 assists if my team was shooting at that clip.

Can you imagine:

How hideous would this game be if we had a poor offensive half? We would be down by 40 on some nights. Eesh.

I noticed a couple nice drive n kicks...

but 6 asst is very surprising. Maybe there is a “Nash osmosis” effect tonight…both in dishing and playing no defense.

Most points Wolves have ever given up at the half!

It’s amazing to remember about a decade ago when the Wolves would play a defense minded team like the Knicks and the final score would be about 65-62.

Team has officially quit. Bad time against an offense like the Suns.

Been a problem all season

Watch the wings when someone shoots. Several have a tendency to stand and watch the shot instead of starting back on defense as soon as the ball leaves the shooter’s hand. That half second matters.

Just found out why the Wolves fall behind so often and so fast

Hanny was saying this is the 20th game this season the Wolves have given up at least 10 three pointers. Also, their avg. 3’s against is 3rd worst in league history!

by Rumblebee on Mar 16, 2010 11:04 PM CDT reply actions

Huh

Does Steve Nash have a sibling better at hoops than he was? He seems to like less talented brothers – Collins, Griffin, Lopez.

by FunnyBrew.com on Mar 16, 2010 11:16 PM CDT reply actions

Once the Wolves are locked into the 2nd worst record

it will present the team with an interesting dilemma over how ever many games remain. Do they continue to work on “development,” ending the season on a very down note, and leaving a whole summer to wonder just how bad the players and incompetent the coaching staff and POBO are?

Or do they turn it up, start Sessions, Brewer, Gomes, Love, and Al, leave Hollins and Sasha at home on road trips, and actually try to win a couple of games—thereby giving most of the several hundred remaining fans a glimmer of hope for next season, but open the team up to charges of blatant tanking?

Or is there a greater truth that’s so sinister that we dare not speak of it: Is this the best the players can play, and/or Rambis can coach?

by PoorDick on Mar 16, 2010 11:30 PM CDT reply actions

by tonight's game only

I would say start Sessions, Brew, Wilkins, Gomes, and Darko. Kevin Love looked like crap…is he sick or something? and Al’s defensive shortcomings make me wonder if he should be the 6th man off the bench. that way, the second unit can just pound it down low to Al, and the first unit can try and run…and actually pass the basketball…to each other (hopefully)

by nodnarb on Mar 16, 2010 11:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Hate to say it, but....

…. our best player is a whiner and pouter because he is not starting, and he’s been
pouting ever since he’s gone to the reserves. Sign of immaturity. He says stuff in
print about how he misses Kevin McHale & takes shots at his coach. I believe he
wants to be traded to a team (already good team) that he thinks he deserves. I
noticed this way back. I’m not saying he’s not right about his criticisms, but his
childish, selfish attitude is hurting his team, and he doesn’t care. As good as he is,
and as much as I like to see him play, I don’t like whiners, and I’d bench him for the
rest of the season and play guys that want to play and contribute.

"It's not too far; it just seems like it is."

by WillistonCoyote on Mar 17, 2010 2:27 PM CDT up reply actions

An Addendum:

and, as an ex-seviceman 1966-1970, I have to say I don’t like guys that quit when
you need them the most. I hate quitters. You can’t count on them; all they do is
drag you down further. If he wants to be traded, fine. I just say that we have to get
something substantial back. Besides, he’ll carp until he’s paid as much as AlJeff
anyway, and who can take his tantrums that long? I don’t want to. Talent isn’t
everything. Desire trumps that every time. If he holds his feces in until he turns
purple andgets his way, he’s just going to hold us back and be a thorn in our side. He wants to go. Let him go. A guy never helped a team when he didn’t want to be there.
One thing lacking in his talent package: Footspeed. He can shoot and rebound,
but he’s not terribly athletic.

Love only played 26 minutes...

not enough time for him to show the world his awesomeness?

Where is all the hyperbole tonight? I miss the laughs!

by College Wolf on Mar 17, 2010 12:35 AM CDT reply actions

Love says it best

Strib:

Love had his foot soaking in ice after he played 26 minutes, didn’t make a shot (0-for-7) and had three points and seven rebounds.

“It felt fine,” he said of his foot. “One of the less effective games of my career, as you could tell from the stat sheet. That’s kind of how it was for everybody tonight.”

by littleboxes on Mar 17, 2010 1:31 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm still convinced

that Love and not Jefferson get traded in the offseason. I think Kahn and Rambis are much higher on Al Jeff’s potential than K Love’s. Big Al is more expensive (and thus could bring more back in return) but I think they try to package Love with Gomes to get a draft pick or a player.

by littleboxes on Mar 17, 2010 1:35 AM CDT up reply actions

I'm thinking the same

Rambis obviously annoyed by KLove, and Love may have higher trade value (at least a top-5 pick, if not higher).

by Rumblebee on Mar 17, 2010 12:56 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm ready to trade Love because of his attitude, and the fact he's not durable.

he may have a career like Bill Walton. All potential and sitting in a suit on the sidelines
hoping the last operation will get him back in the game in a few months.

Jonny Flynn is a joke.

One of the worst rookie PG’s in the first round. It’s beyond me why he plays more than 10-15 minutes per game.

Ummmm

He’s one of the best players in a Twolves uniform on any given night… HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…. I’d say hes top five on our club! Here’s my ranking just for fun… Jefferson>Love>Brewer>Sessions>Flynn>Darko>Gomes>Ellington>Hollins>Wilkins>Pecherov>Jawai>Tucker>Pavlovic>My Grandma

Actually, maybe the last two should be flip-flopped… seriously Pavs is probably the worst player in the NBA.
