I'm going to go with the early prediction...

…that Whiteside won’t be on their radar.

Whiteside scares me

a lot.

The closer it gets to the draft, the more I don’t like the allure of Whiteside. Crappy analogy alert: Whiteside is like procrastinating (and something else if you’ve heard that simile), seems like a good idea, but once you see the results you wish you had used a different strategy. I feel like this guy is going to seriously dissapoint some team. But looking at the list of teams, I don’t see too many teams that will want to take a chance on him that high. Pistons will probably take Aldrich to replace Wallace after seeing how much he helped them. He’s a player that I hope is gone when we draft so we don’t make the mistake of taking him. 76ers might to replace Dalembert in a couple years (time frame would work out). The Kings are another maybe if they don’t want Spencer Hawes/Jason Thompson at the C long-term. I would be incredibly suprised if the Jazz take him. Clippers have Kaman. Bulls need post offense, not more defense. The Hornets are trying to compete now and probably don’t want a project. The Grizzlies have a wealth of bigs already (though maybe they will become enamored with another). I see Daryl Morey picking up someone with a bit better of a resume. And then the Heat… I think the Heat will seriously consider him if he is there when they pick (assuming both of those picks are still ahead of the Bobcat pick). So really there are only 3 teams that are a truly legitimate threat to take him (at least in which it would make sense…). If he is there, he is hard to pass up, so let’s hope he is gone by the time we pick! Or like SnP says, he isn’t even on the radar.

I like Ekpe Udoh, if we can get him with the Charlotte pick

He sounds like a great fit for our system and what we need from a big. Great shot-blocker (4.2 bpg), can rebound, drive, pass, and shoot with range.

Udoh would be a good selection for the Charlotte pick...

I would like us to get Varnado as well. He is a shot blocking game changer. I think teams that pass on him will wish they hadn’t much like Blair from last year and Millsap from a few years ago. With both Udoh and Varnado we should always be able to have a defensive presence on the floor.

I like Udoh very much as well

He’s probably a 4 in the NBA. He has some offensive skills to go along with the defense. I think he’ll be able to guard inside as well as stretch bigs.

He might be something akin to Rasheed Wallace (without the nuttiness)….I just looked at D/E and see that they make the Rasheed comparison as well. I swear I came up with that before I saw their comparison.

Another ranking to consider

Here. It basically shows all of the available prospects and doesn’t try to guess which guys are staying/going.

Doesn't look like that list's been updated in a while..

…because the ranking isn’t matching up with the newest mock draft.
