Several wolves fans have called for somehow trading up and/or acquiring a second pick in the top 5 of this year's upcoming draft. I believe that scenario won't happen. However, I do believe that it would behoove the team to improve thier Utah pick. The Bobcats pick will be right around 16 or 17. The Utah pick will be mid 20's. Trading up to turn the Utah pick into a pick around 11 or 12 would be more beneficial in my eyes than packaging our picks and only having two high first round picks. Let me elaborate. With our top pick I believe this year the lepruchaun will bless us with a top 2 pick and we'll either take Turner or Wall. Superstar - check. However, that still leaves 2 major areas of weakness to fill, areas that Kahn has repeatedly stated we need to improve in - shooting, and length and athleticism. Having picks 11 and 16 would go a long ways in procuring possibly the BEST 2 possible options for those needs. I will put 4 players' names out there: Haasan Whiteside, Epke Udoh, James Anderson, X Henry. Many would probably add Vesely to that list but I just haven't seen him enough to have an opinion yet. Optimally for me, we would nab Whiteside at 11 and Anderson at 16. However a combination of any of these 4 would suffice. Staying in the mid 20's with the Utah pick is almost throwing in the towel. Yes, you can get lucky with a mid 20's pick. You can get some solid players. But more often than not you don't. And why not work your way up to a range that will increase the odds of finding a very good player? We have the pieces to make it happen. Trade the Utah pick and player X, maybe even throw in another 2nd rounder. What say you?
