If we lose the real lottery
and end up at #5, it might already be time to start playing for the chance to draft Harrison Barnes.
My goalpost at this point..
…is competency and fun ball, not ticket pitches. With League Pass, I don’t have to be tied to an arena and another year of waiting for another top pick will confirm my suspicions about how the team operates.

+1
If the Wolves show signs of continued utter incompetence, I am likely to just invest my free time in other things for a few years vs. switch allegiances.

Many thanks for small mercies, eh.

At this point in the draft, 23, the various mocks
mostly have a steady batch of wings to choose from. Draftexpress, for example, has Alabi (a C) at 22, and then the positions go:
SF/PF
PG/SG
SF/PF
SG
SG
SG
SF/PF
SF/PF
The 23rd pick means you get your pick of that litter, I guess, if you haven’t addressed that earlier.
I’d feel a lot more comfortable with an Henry or a James up with the Charlotte choice, assuming you don’t land in the magic #2 spot you sort of hope for up top.

The Wolves always win the coin flips
They did it with Portland, the year the Blazers then won the lotto and took Oden.

If they wind up with
James Anderson and Larry Sanders with those two picks, I’d be happy no matter who they get in the lottery (Wall or Turner please).
But ultimately, I doubt they bring in 3 rookies on guaranteed deals this year; my guess is that they move at least one of these picks.

Anderson at 16 would work for me, sure.
I almost think it’s inevitable for the Wolves to pick three wings with the choices, just in terms of how that lets the national media memes continue.
Frankly I wouldn’t feel so bad, though I’d prefer a mid-career FA wing like Childress or whoever to play a vet role on the roster. After a year starved for SGs and SFs, to have an abundance of talent there? It’d be okay.

Why not follow the OKC mold and let the kids develop together?
That’s why I wouldn’t mind having 3 rooks. If we pick 3 or 4 we’re obviously taking Favors or Cousins if we can’t trade up. In which case I wouldn’t mind trading Big Al for Rip Hamilton who could bring veteran maturity, mentorship, and competant wing play until someone bettter can be had. I think decent wings would also help the big guys develop

I can't prove this
but my sense is that strategy rarely works. OKC is having success…they also have Kevin Durant. But I think that usually, when you go too young, you get stuck, and it’s hard to get better.

I agree with EiM
I think this only works if you have a true alpha like Durant, creating a pecking order. OTherwise if you have a bunch of lottery picks all fighting for the biggest contract extension it could, but probably won’t, work out well…See LA Clippers as your example
I think a lot of that falls on coaching as well
And who says we are going to keep them all until they need to be extended? It could definitely work and I absolutely hope they don’t trade away value because they are afraid of this.
They aren't considering needs yet
