So I took a quick break from work to peek at the results of the measurements taken at the Draft Combine, as posted on DraftExpress. I wanted to compare the purely physical elements of this year's lottery-bound big men with our current crop of big bodies as they were measured at the Draft Combine. Curious? Read below.
(ED NOTE: Full DX measurements can be found by clicking here.)
Player Height w/o shoes Height w/ shoes Weight Wingspan Reach
DMC 6' 9.5" 6' 10.75" 292 7' 5.75" 9' 5"
Favors 6' 8.75" 6' 10.25" 245 7' 4" 9' 2"
Aldrich 6' 9" 6' 11.25" 236 7' 4.75" 9' 3.5"
Monroe 6' 9.75" 6' 11" 247 7' 2.75" 9' 0.25"
Big Al 6' 8.5" 6' 9.75" 263 7' 2.5" 9' 2"
KLove 6' 7.75" 6' 9.5" 255 6' 11.25" 8' 10"
Darko 6' 11.5" 7' 0.25" 250 7' 5" 9' 3.5"
A couple of quick observations:
1. What kind of shoes is Cole Aldrich wearing that he gains two and a half inches? Lifts?
2. Based on these measurements, Greg Monroe looks pretty damn good on paper in terms of raw physical attributes.
3. DMC is not as short as Big Al--he has a whole inch on him, plus three inches in wingspan. But DMC needs to drop some weight (his body fat percentage was 16.4).
4. It's amazing just how many rebounds Love gets out of effort and positioning, because he isn't getting them based on wingspan (which we knew already, but still).
How about the rest of you? Anything else interesting in these numbers?
