Here are the results from the following trade posted here and on the Detroit Bad Boy site:
DET 1st Round pick
Canis readers roundly rejected the trade with 25% approving and 47% disapproving. There were 154 respondents to the poll - so thank you for participating and providing a significant sample size.
The Detroit Bad Boys LOVED this trade approving it with 77% and only 9% disapproval. Sadly, only 29 people participated in their poll and that is not a significant sample. Strangely enough, the post drew more comments (30) than poll participants - but I think that is largely Canis regular Ebomb's contribution!
Some notes - I clearly gave away the farm with this trade and it basically comes down to Charlie Villanueva. You hate Charlie, I hate Charlie, and Detroit hates Charlie. So why (if I hate Charlie, and I do) do I include him?
Clearly the preference for Minny is a simpler trade - AlJeff for Prince and the pick. The primary writer at Detroit Bad Boys insists the pick is off limits and the best package they would provide is Prince/Stuckey/Wilcox for Al Jeff and Sessions - (I'm going to poll that one here for fun - but I can guess:)
I threw in Charlie to make DET think hard about giving up that pick and try to find some middle ground. In my mind, burying Charlie on the MN bench is worth a shot at: a) a small chance of another top 3 pick, or b) the perfect position to grab Aldrich, Wes Johnson, or Ed Davis, or c) packaging picks to move up a few spots to grab Favors or Cousins.
In my mind, any of those scenarios is worth eating CV's contract - and at $7M-ish, I think he could be moved at some point for a shorter contract.
If the Wolves traded Al Jefferson and Ramon Sessions for Tayshaun Prince, Chris Wilcox (expiring) and Rodney Stuckey - how would you grade this trade for the Wolves?
