Wes Johnson with the 4th.  Good lord.  There had better be something else associated with that pick.

To reiterate my initial reaction:

Sigh.

You were a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss. Somehow I doubt twenty years of amphetamines and failure have done anything to improve that.

He’s a 23 year old without ballhandling skills who didn’t dominate at the college level. He was really good last year, but not nearly good enough to pass on Cousins.

This will be the worst pick in this draft and be ruefully remembered by fans of the Wolves for a decade.

AWoj continuing to be a prick
Wolves had been in panic mode for several days, turned into a tizzy by Rod Thorn smoke screens. They truly believed Nets wanted Wes Johnson.
A fantasy about a package deal of Wes Johnson and free agent Carlos Boozer had been thrown out, and Nets were amazed on how many bought it.

I do not agree. How do the Wolves not need a center? On what planet is Darko a fucking plan at center.

Once again the Wolves try to outsmart the rest of the league and fail. No one wants Darko, we’ll take him and assume he’ll solve our C problem. Since we solved that problem, let’s take Wes Johnson and blow our chance at a legit C.

When you think that we only won 15 games and sacrificed wins for development/picks, only to draft a guy with limited developmental potential relative to the available picks.

Please trade Jonny & Wes!

I had a running debate going on another thread, & the many derogatory comments on this thread more than make my point!
You continually bash the players, ready to vent your frustrations even BEFORE the fact, & act as though you’re all experts on NBA-level talent.
Ricky’s the saviour, so Flynn sux. Cousins is better, so Wes is a fricken disaster. You don’t give your players the best chance to shine, & your HC, FO, GM, & overall team management are a league-wide JOKE!
I’m saddened that Wes & Jonny find themselves in your putrid franchise, & can only hope they’re able to escape in decent shape, a la KG!

Boo.

Booooooooooooo.

You were a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss. Somehow I doubt twenty years of amphetamines and failure have done anything to improve that.

siiiigggghhhh. So we’re officially not trying to build a championship team; only a playoff team. Did we really wait this long for rebuilding just to get a roster full of mediocre players? Where’s our star haul staying..

It will just make it that much easier to fire Kahn

I will not be happy with any trade to Portland...

If he trades for Webster I’m going to cut his nuts off! Fucker! If he gets Rudy we better get more than just him.

by Wolf21 on Jun 24, 2010 8:10 PM CDT reply actions

Webster and what?

Surely there is a first next year?

Ok….I’ve defended Kahn here repeatedly, but if he doesn’t get Rudy for Babbitt then I’ve lost all faith in him.

Whatup Wolves fans

A Cuse fan here, gonna defend Wes Johnson to ya’ll. I think you’ll all be real surprised.

The kid can flat out play. Don’t be fooled by his numbers, Wes plays a very humble game. He doesn’t force shots, in fact, he only took about 11 a game last year with Syracuse. He could have launched 10 more per game and nobody would have cared, but he was content to be a team player, look for his teammates, and take his shot when it was there.

Wes was injured on his shooting hand for about half of last season, when he healed and prior to his injury, he was unstoppable, he will not miss an open look. Also, in all the games I watched, I can never remember him taking a bad shot. He doesn’t force his game, he knows how to fit a role.

His athleticism is perfect for the next level. He’s still getting better, extremely coach-able and amazing character as an individual. Jim Boehiem has said that Wes was his favorite player to coach in his 30+ year coaching tenor. He’s a class act, and he’s a hard worker.

He never seemed to look overmatched by anybody this year, he crashes the boards with the best of them, has amazing reach and leaping skills, and is always well positioned on D.

I know you all might have wanted Cousins or somebody else, but Wes was on a team loaded with depth, he didn’t have to do much scoring. It says more about him that he was content to help his team win basketball games instead of trying to stuff the stat sheet.

Again, look at how he finished last season, if you’d like to run the numbers, once his hand had healed, he didn’t miss.

You’re all going to like Wes, trust me, it’s hard not to. If I had to describe his game in one word, it would be: “smooth.” He is going to be a legitimate NBA player for a long time. Think Scotti Pippin, he’s going to be just fine. You’re getting a character athlete, so come down from the ledge.

Appreciate the insight.

I’m sure he’s a good player, and an easy guy to like. But he joins a team with too many players fitting that description.

by LoveTo on Jun 24, 2010 8:17 PM CDT up reply actions

IMO Wes is better than Cousins

Take it from someone who’s been following the Cuse for years, he’s the best talent we’ve had since ‘Melo, and it’s not even close

Wes seems like an intelligent adult...

Coach K was asked what all the greats have in common. “They are all really, really smart.”

by fanslaststand on Jun 24, 2010 8:22 PM CDT up reply actions

He is very intelligent

Incredibly humble and very mature. That’s why I say, you’re going to like him more as you get to know him. He will easily adapt to the changes of the NBA

Hard to believe Wolves fans are complaining about their 2nd round pick. They could have drafted my left nut and been a better team.
