2nd Pick Open Thread
Wes Johnson with the 4th. Good lord. There had better be something else associated with that pick.

To reiterate my initial reaction:
Sigh.
You were a daydreamer, a sass-mouth, and, not infrequently, a bit of a gigglepuss. Somehow I doubt twenty years of amphetamines and failure have done anything to improve that.

A little dramatic, s-n-p... hardly "good lord" worthy
Bilas even listed him as the 4th best
you mean the same jay bilias.
….who earlier today was saying cousins could go #2?

much worse than "good lord" worthy
This will be the worst pick in this draft and be ruefully remembered by fans of the Wolves for a decade.
AWoj continuing to be a prick
Wolves had been in panic mode for several days, turned into a tizzy by Rod Thorn smoke screens. They truly believed Nets wanted Wes Johnson.
A fantasy about a package deal of Wes Johnson and free agent Carlos Boozer had been thrown out, and Nets were amazed on how many bought it.
he's an embarassment when it comes to wolves coverage
i know for a fact he made the favors out of shape thing up.

His story doesn't make sense
Why would jersey need to smokescreen anybody except Philly or Washington.
it doesn't make sense.
…..the only way it does is if you believe people pay attention to shit he writes. it’s all bs.

KAHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"
Trader Kahn
.. is a damn fool if this is how he values talent. Wesley is a nice player for a contender – someone one guy away. Terrible pick at the #4. Terrible pick in terms of value. Terrible pick for the Wolves.
Things could be worse. A LOT worse.
We could be Golden State fans watching their team draft Ekpe Udoh 6th. Colossal reach. A fail of epic proportions.
Personally, I’m going to wait and see how Wes Johnson performs on the court before I rip this pick. Cousins was, and is, a huge risk.
huge risk high reward

I do not agree. How do the Wolves not need a center? On what planet is Darko a fucking plan at center.
Once again the Wolves try to outsmart the rest of the league and fail. No one wants Darko, we’ll take him and assume he’ll solve our C problem. Since we solved that problem, let’s take Wes Johnson and blow our chance at a legit C.

If players do not workout for us. Kahn takes it personally and wants nothing to do with them. This will be recurring next year and we will miss out again. Then Kahn will be fired and the team will be sold.

16 – James Anderson or Xavier

Wes Johnson becomes wing defense incarnate and flourishes with someone to throw oops to him. Cousins and Tyreke Evans tear each others arms off, and Derrick Favors never materializes. Also, the Thunder move back to Seattle.

Please trade Jonny & Wes!
I had a running debate going on another thread, & the many derogatory comments on this thread more than make my point!
You continually bash the players, ready to vent your frustrations even BEFORE the fact, & act as though you’re all experts on NBA-level talent.
Ricky’s the saviour, so Flynn sux. Cousins is better, so Wes is a fricken disaster. You don’t give your players the best chance to shine, & your HC, FO, GM, & overall team management are a league-wide JOKE!
I’m saddened that Wes & Jonny find themselves in your putrid franchise, & can only hope they’re able to escape in decent shape, a la KG!
So we can't complain
about our GM leaving Cousins on the table then?
Please….
"I was trying to focus on breathing," Milicic said. "I was just focusing on breathing so I didn’t die."
Uhh
The complaint isn’t that these are terrible players, but that the Wolves continually pass on better talent, even though the conventional wisdom is that the players we pass on are better.
OOOOOO Please...
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"

And, thus, you’re completely wrong. Much like the other Syracuse guy.

RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDY
For Babbitt? Sold. Doesn’t redeem the first pick, but it’s a good start.
Hopefully Pritchard is sending us Aldridge and Oden
as a final F U to Vulcan
Talking myself into DeMarcus Cousins since 5/18/10

Booooooooooooo.

siiiigggghhhh. So we’re officially not trying to build a championship team; only a playoff team. Did we really wait this long for rebuilding just to get a roster full of mediocre players? Where’s our star haul staying..

If you have access to anyone in the war room…I’d love to hear why they’re not getting Rudy.

It will just make it that much easier to fire Kahn

We have Wes/Brewer…we don’t need Webster…we need a starting SG.

Webster and his 4 mil contract
That sounds like a winner
We don't want another first round pick, do we?
"I was trying to focus on breathing," Milicic said. "I was just focusing on breathing so I didn’t die."
I will not be happy with any trade to Portland...
If he trades for Webster I’m going to cut his nuts off! Fucker! If he gets Rudy we better get more than just him.
Webster and what?
Surely there is a first next year?

Whatup Wolves fans
A Cuse fan here, gonna defend Wes Johnson to ya’ll. I think you’ll all be real surprised.
The kid can flat out play. Don’t be fooled by his numbers, Wes plays a very humble game. He doesn’t force shots, in fact, he only took about 11 a game last year with Syracuse. He could have launched 10 more per game and nobody would have cared, but he was content to be a team player, look for his teammates, and take his shot when it was there.
Wes was injured on his shooting hand for about half of last season, when he healed and prior to his injury, he was unstoppable, he will not miss an open look. Also, in all the games I watched, I can never remember him taking a bad shot. He doesn’t force his game, he knows how to fit a role.
His athleticism is perfect for the next level. He’s still getting better, extremely coach-able and amazing character as an individual. Jim Boehiem has said that Wes was his favorite player to coach in his 30+ year coaching tenor. He’s a class act, and he’s a hard worker.
He never seemed to look overmatched by anybody this year, he crashes the boards with the best of them, has amazing reach and leaping skills, and is always well positioned on D.
I know you all might have wanted Cousins or somebody else, but Wes was on a team loaded with depth, he didn’t have to do much scoring. It says more about him that he was content to help his team win basketball games instead of trying to stuff the stat sheet.
Again, look at how he finished last season, if you’d like to run the numbers, once his hand had healed, he didn’t miss.
You’re all going to like Wes, trust me, it’s hard not to. If I had to describe his game in one word, it would be: “smooth.” He is going to be a legitimate NBA player for a long time. Think Scotti Pippin, he’s going to be just fine. You’re getting a character athlete, so come down from the ledge.
cool story bro
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"
of what another bust?
please spare me
"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you!"
Appreciate the insight.
I’m sure he’s a good player, and an easy guy to like. But he joins a team with too many players fitting that description.
IMO Wes is better than Cousins
Take it from someone who’s been following the Cuse for years, he’s the best talent we’ve had since ‘Melo, and it’s not even close
Wes seems like an intelligent adult...
Coach K was asked what all the greats have in common. “They are all really, really smart.”

He is very intelligent
Incredibly humble and very mature. That’s why I say, you’re going to like him more as you get to know him. He will easily adapt to the changes of the NBA
Yeah, that Syracuse team sure was loaded.
Who’d they lose to in the tourney again?

Ha, dude I knew they lost to Butler
Really talented team Syracuse had.
/Big East was OVER-RATED this year.

But Syracuse was not
If AO was healthy, Butler loses, cuz ’Cuse can go inside… how far did Butler make it again?
2 picks down
2 picks royally blown. Moving on to number 3.

Hard to believe Wolves fans are complaining about their 2nd round pick. They could have drafted my left nut and been a better team.
"My mind is focused now, in this sea of Orange" - Dickey Simpkins
What are you even saying? 2nd round pick? Did your left nut declare? I don't get it.
I looked ahead to the open road, thought about the people and what they know, and wrote a book called "People Don't Know Nothin!"
We now have two 23-year old role playing SF's...
So we got that going for us, which is nice…
