Oh boy, this post should be subtitled, "How not to convince your FA star to stay," because, folks, the head coaching job for the Cavs remains open as the last seconds tick off the clock toward free agency.
Where many of us last left off was that the Michigan State coach decided not to pursue the Cavs head coaching job because of the uncertainty surrounding Lebron. So, now there remains a two man race of the job between Byron Scott and Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw.
According to reports yesterday, the Cavs were in final contract discussions with Brian Shaw. In fact, one report had Byron Scott's agent, McInerney emailing Brian to congratulate him on his taking the Cavs position.
Now comes word that Shaw this afternoon balked at the uncertainty of, you guessed it, Lebron not staying with the Cavs. So, by default, one would assume, the job would go to Byron Scott, right. Well, that was the recent report as Scott was being heralded as the new Cavs head coach about 7:00 p.m. CDT. However, according to Scott's agent, Scott has not spoken with the Cavs management today.
This should make Lebron's decision to leave easier, one assumes.
