Great find!
I really enjoyed reading it.

This is good and should be moved up top
I don’t think a lot of us have seen good scouting reports on Nikola other than on DX.

Good work unearthing this write-up
This was an excellent read, thorough analysis and I love the quick clips showing each opinion made.

excellent
Great to hear that’s good at creating passing lanes in the half-court and in transition. Excited to see how he does in the NBA.
Awesome
So he’s gotta work on screens, help D and rebounding. I can live with that.
On a side note, I’ve never seen anyone set such bad screens… wow.
Ryan Hollins
is the master of the moving screen….and getting called for it.
By the way, they must have called illegal screens a million times during Summer League play, so it’s clearly a point of emphasis. Someone better take Pekovic aside very early in camp and teach him how to set legal screens.

The lack of rebounding from the centers on this team is a real concern. Since Love can’t play 48 minutes per game and Beasley isn’t really a stellar rebounder, they need to hope that Wes really crashes the glass (and given his performance in collge, he should). It also would help if Webster pretty much spent all his time at the 2, where his rebounding numbers are reasonable and if Brewer saw minutes at the 2 when Love is out of the game (and got back to the sort of rebounding he did earlier in his career).

I wrote this on another thread...
But Darko’s DREB% is about average. At 19.2%, it’s the same as Brook Lopez, Josh Smith, and Beasley and higher than guys like Elton Brand and Kenyon Martin. His OREB% is the same as Bosh and Nene but is what brings his TRB% down.

His career average is sort of odd because it’s clearly buoyed by his 2 years in Memphis where he was a pretty good rebounder. Last year, in Minnesota, his DRB% was down at 16.9%, which is problematic. If there’s going to be talk of Darko finding himself as a basketball player, he needs to rebound like he did in Memphis and find the scoring touch he had in ‘08-’09 (not great, but it’s something).

Some interesting game by games in there...
OKC: Milicic 23.4, Jefferson 19.2
MIA: Milicic 10.9, Jefferson 46.9
ATL: Milicic 22.9, Jefferson 16.4
OKC: Milicic 30.3, Jefferson 21.3, Love 12.8
POR: Milicic 13.7, Jefferson 17.4
DAL: Milicic 9.5, Love 45.0 (Jefferson hurt)
I’m too lazy to do all of the games they played together, but I’d most be interested in whether the Milicic/Jefferson and Milicic/Love combinations had similar DREB% during their time on the floor together that the Jefferson/Love pairing did. He’s inconsistent for sure, but it’s unclear whether those rebounds he’s not getting are being grabbed by his teammates or the opponent.

the PnR defense gets me excited.
The PnR offense not so much haha but that can be fixed.
Really seems like he’ll be a nice fit here once Rubio gets over here. He gets great position. A little bit of Shaq in him. (not comparing players just style of play)

This
was awesome.
I’ve been high on Pek for awhile now, but this scouting report has me really amped up about him. Now that Hollins is gone, I’m really loving our big rotation for this year – Love, Darko, Pek, and Beasley (who I think will play some SF too).
What I am most excited about is how physical Pek is – we really, really, really need some of that. He absolutely killed some of his defenders in those clips! What will be most helpful about that for us is that he was constantly pushing his guy around whether he got the ball or didn’t, and that’s really going to tire out his defender. In addition to hopefully bringing the best out of Darko in practice, guys like Oden/Camby, Pau, Nene, Yao, Big Al, Kaman, Timmy D, DMC, etc etc aren’t going to like facing that during the game. It’s going to be fantastic!
