Renounce Pek; Sign Lee; Trade Love; Keep Al

I just see several different threads emerging and I think they can all tie together.

1. Renounce Pekovic's deal. The rumor is that he wants to stay in Europe another year. Excellent. Since we haven't signed that contract yet it would be great to add the $3 million back to our cap.

2. Sign David Lee. $8-9MM to get this done? If not, then pay a little more and sign and trade with Ellington or Sessions in the pot for New York. Regardless if it signs any other big ticket guys, New York needs another point guard and we now have an extra shooter to spare. Maybe we throw in Pekovic.

3. Trade Kevin Love. We covet the athletic four. But we couldn't get that guy in the draft or free agency. The CH crew voted down by 75% a trade of Love for Randolph. If we can use our cap space to sign a Love replacement, how would that Golden State trade look? What about Love for possibly Derrick Favors? Isn't Love a better fit alongside Lopez, with Love's ability to stretch the floor offensively? I root for Love, and think he is right now our best player, but he is a diva, and someday he is going to demand all sorts of money that he is not worth. If they can get Lee at a reasonable price right now, I'd lock that up, and use our second best trade asset (Kevin Love) to add more upside talent.

4. Keep Big Al, for now. The only way we may ever get to an eventual championship is if we can bring a big time player here. Because we can't sign anyone in free agency, we will need Big Al's contract eventually to trade for another big name. Unless we pull a Bosh miracle, there isn't anyone we can presently get for Jefferson that will really make a difference here. If we decide Wes Johnson is not ready to start this year, I would not oppose a Deng trade. If Webster and Brewer can't carry the two, I'd look at Kevin Martin. But I'd give Johnson, Webster and Brewer an opportunity to carry the wing positions before taking on a Deng or Martin. (Yes, I did advocate for a Deng-Gibson Al trade many times, but the draft changed the benefits of that trade). But hold Al and use him as a bench reserve, with spot starting for awhile. It will be a luxury.
