Around SBN: Lakers Should Trade Andrew Bynum So He Doesn't Go To Waste

Stein: Beasley to Wolves

STEIN_LINE_HQ: ESPN.com sources: Miami has agree to a trade with Minnesota that will send Michael Beasley to the Wolves. Link forthcoming

Questions:

1) just for cap space?

2) can he play the three?

3) will he get PT?

4) if so, will he score 20 PPG?

Pretty exciting on the whole though.  I'm hoping he takes the chance and runs with it.

I like it.

I’d suggest that we hold out and demand they incentivize him further, but at this point they have nothing to add. Their pick will be #30. I don’t think we could give them Hollins.

Anyway, assuming Jefferson gets traded, I like the idea of bringing in Beasley and telling him “You’re Kevin Love’s backup until you earn something more.” Start him at 20 minutes/night, and he’ll be dynamic in that role. We probably don’t have any SF minutes to offer, but that’s ok. He’s not Josh Smith, but he’s athletic enough to be the “mobile 4” we need.

Yeah, sure, what do we have to lose?

He IS talented, at least. If we’re deadset on moving Al, we’re going to need someone who can create some shots, and if nothing else, Beasley can get buckets. You have to think it’s pretty much straight for cap space, so I see no downside if that’s the case.

Interviewer: Can you understand why teams value potential ahead of experience and accomplishment in the draft? Wes Johnson: "Yeah. I understand. It’s the youngness of everything – older guys like young women, so it’s the same way."

I think it might work

Beasley has something to prove. If he has any pride at all he will bust his butt to prove Riley quit on him early. Also the anger of missing out on being part of the ‘Super Friends’ era could push him, too. But keep him on an extremely short leash. And if he falters, cut him loose.

A second round pick

for a second overall pick in essence, I like it!

Pick

And a future first round pick swap that was undisclosed. hopefully it is atleast 3 years away ….Al must be on his way out soon

=)

This makes me feel better about this offseason. Thanks Lebron!

STEAL. Espiecally if it turns out we don’t have to swap picks for 7 years. I don’t mind using our cap space on Beasley while hes still on his rookie contract, espiecally after watching Outlaw get 7 million a year.

Thanks to Lebron

Look what we got, Well done Kahn.

by TheGreat on Jul 8, 2010 11:12 PM CDT reply actions

Well done Kahn!?!!

Kahn walked into this one with his eyes closed.

by Flagrant on Jul 9, 2010 1:13 AM CDT up reply actions

Who cares

If he pulls the trigger it is bargain. Whether he plays for the Wolves or gets traded for another asset this is a win. A swap of 1st over 7 years and a second round pick next year is a deal for a talented player on a rookie contract. if he turns this down please slam him, but I don’t think you can rip him for “walking” into this.

You're anger blinds you

If you don’t like Kahn and his actions that is fine, but saying he fell into this one is BS. Riley even said that many teams wanted Beasley, but MN had the best deal to offer Miami to suit their needs.

I like it.

I think this guy can do well at the 4 for us when Love’s out. He can run the floor too.
And honestly. Position is really only a match up, and I think we wins most mach ups on the offensive end weather he is at the 3 or the 4. With the right match up coming off the bench, his defense should be just fine.
There’s another athlete like Kahn has been promising.

Beasley deserves a chance

Change of Scenery, new town, more welcoming fans… it might work.

Kind of like with Darko

Only Beasley has more talent.

and more problems.

Gunnin' For That #1 Spot

Didn’t Beasley and Love kind of get into it in Rucker Park?

The excitment is starting to come back!!!!!!

I love the trade in acquiring Beaseley. He’s a taletented kid. Its going to be an interesting ride…….

What's our roster going to look like as of now then?

PG: Jonny Flynn/Ramon Sessions
SG: Corey Brewer/Martell Webster
SF: Wes Johnson/Martell Webster/Corey Brewer/Nemanja Bjelica?/Lazar Hayward
PF: Kevin Love/Michael Beasley/Nikola Pekovic
C: Darko Milicic/Al Jefferson/Nikola Pekovic

???

by KGMN on Jul 9, 2010 11:25 AM CDT reply actions

I think

this looks about right, but Webster will end up ahead of Brewer, big Al will be gone, and Bjelly will be in overseas. Hopefully we get something decent for Al in return…

by J Sizzle on Jul 9, 2010 11:55 AM CDT up reply actions

Have we all adopted the nickname “Bjelly” mostly because it’s hard to remember how to spell “Bjelica”? I’ll be honest, that’s a big part of me using it.
