Rank the Wolves best players

With our recent moves, I thought it would be fun to rank our roster from last year and our roster this year and compare.  Here's the way I'd do it

2009 roster:

1. Al Jefferson/Kevin Love (tie)

3. Corey Brewer

4. Jonny Flynn

5. Darko Milicic

6. Ryan Gomes

7. Ramon Sessions

8. Wayne Ellington

9. Damien Wilkins

10. Ryan Hollins

11. Sasha Pavlovic

12. Oleksey Pecherov

13. Brian Cardinal

Wow!!  Just looking at that kinda makes me want to throw up in my mouth!

2010 roster (Pending)

1. Kevin Love/ Al Jefferson (for now)

3. Wes Johnson

4. Michael Beasley

5. Martell Webster

6. Jonny Flynn

7. Darko Milicic

8. Corey Brewer (moved down cause he'll be a backup)

9. Nikola Pekovic

10. Ramon Sessions

11. Wayne Ellington

12. Lazar Hayward

13. Ryan Hollins

14. Rick Rickert (J/K)

I think when you sit back and look at the new roster (especially considering Al will be moved) we look a hell of a lot better than last year.  Its kind of a miracle we won 15 games with list really.

How would you guys rank them?

You were mistaken.

Just kidding—actually, not a bad list, but what about Buh-Easily? Or is he ranked below Rickert?

My bad

Thought I forgot someone. That’s what I get for doing this at work….

The repercussions of doing this at work

could be much more grave than just omitting a particular player.

by PoorDick on Jul 9, 2010 1:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Its true

But dying of boredom has its own repercussions…..

Catch you! Decision Day ESPN

As your employer, I hereby inform you that you will be forced to have a one-hour infomercial ran on your offenses on ESPN entitled, “Decision Day.”

Agreed…much better and certainly more athletic team. I’d add asterisk that Beasley could easily be at the top of this list in 6 months.

by TWolvesFanInLA on Jul 9, 2010 1:38 PM CDT reply actions

Looking at that list though, as much as the team has improved, and it has, the improvement is in players 6-12. The others are marginal improvements from last year. Yes they’ll win more games, but they are still going to be drafting in the top 10 next year. Not saing that’s a bad thing, but don’t get your hopes up for them fighting for a playoff spot.

Not really

#s 3, 4, 5 were’nt on the team last year.

Not saying it’ll be a playoff team, but no doubt we’re better.

Drafting in the Top 10

Is part of the plan, I would say..

Brewer shouldn't be moved down just because he is coming off the bench

There is much more depth on the wing now than at the Center position. Brewer is still a better player than Darko in my opinion.

1. Kevin Love
2. Wes Johnson
3. Michael Beasley
4. Martell Webster
5. Jonny Flynn
6. Corey Brewer
7. Darko Milicic
8. Nikola Pekoic
9. Ramon Sessions
10. Wayne Ellington
11. Lazar Hayward
12. Ryan Hollins
13. Rickert if he makes the team

Here is my list, I am basing it on how I think Capt. RecSpecs should see them as scoring options. Please keep in mind that I think very lowly of Brewer as a basketball player, great guy though.

1. Jefferson
2. Beasley
3. Wes Johnson
4. Flynn
5. Webster
6. Love(doesn’t need to be a scorer if Jeff stays)
7. Sessions
8. Darko
9. Co Brew!
10. Ellington

not really sure about Pek, Lazar yet and can’t see tall Ryan Hollins getting minutes. Sorry Corey Brew fans!

It gets better

Hollins doesn’t even dress. And, you see upgrades. Where do Pavs, Pech, Wilkins, Jawai, Cardinal, etc… even fall on the 2010 list? Off the radar.

I’m not saying playoffs, but we did see an upgrade and it may not be done yet.

Can't really rank Pekovic until we get to see him

Or Wesley or even Martell.. I am not sure we are done yet, but I just feel better about depth.. Adding assets works in other sports as well, especially when you can use Europe as a farm system. I like the way things are looking – only way is up!
