Wolves Updates 8/10
Wolves sign Tolliver and more
From Ray Richardson/Pioneer Press:
The Minnesota Timberwolves officially signed 6-foot-8 free-agent forward Anthony Tolliver to a deal reportedly worth $4.8 million over two years.
Tolliver, 25, averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 44 games last season with the Golden State Warriors. He has appeared in 65 NBA regular-season games over the past three seasons with Golden State, Portland and San Antonio. He scored a career-high 34 points against the Timberwolves on April 7 last season in Golden State's 116-107 win at Target Center.
Tolliver will be formally introduced to the local media Tuesday afternoon.
From Jonah Ballow/Timberwolves site: 1-on-1 with Anthony Tolliver
From Jonah Ballow/Timberwolves site:
J.B. Bickerstaff’s closet is littered with hats.
Figuratively speaking, the Wolves assistant coach may wear more hats than any other member on the staff. One night, Bickerstaff coached Minnesota rookies and NBA hopefuls in a summer league game in Las Vegas. 48 hours later, he was preaching the importance of defense in front of 100 kids at a basketball clinic in Owatonna, MN on the Wolves Caravan.

The importance of Defense?
Apparently he forgot to give that speech to our players last year.
Ugg, I’m feeling rather pessimistic today and simply can’t figure out how Tolliver (who has the track record of a solid bench/role player) is going to get minutes on our team without depriving Love/Beasly/Wes. Of course, we do need some depth in case of injury but this doesn’t seem to be the right place for him since the other players have upside while with Tolliver I believe what you see is what you get.
Tolliver will get no more than 20 minutes a game
Getting Tolliver allows Rambis to spot Wes at the 2 and Beasley at the 3 for stretches. He would not have been able to do that without him on the roster as we would have only 4 frontcourt players.

If the wolves didn't get another big
then they would never be able to put Beasley at the 3 to guard your lebron/melo type 3s (which is exactly how he will be used in those situations). Adding Tolliver made the wolves a more flexible team and that = better. He is not an upside pickup but rather another interchangable part for the back half of the rotation. He signed with the wolves because they would give him more money than the warriors. He likely wanted the extra money heading into the lockout. There is no guaranteed PT.

From what Darren Wolfson said on his Twitter....
…..he implied the Warriors offered him the same amount of money, but the Wolves made him a great sales pitch and a better opportunity, does that mean PT?

I don't think that the Wolves have anyone's name
written down in ink right now. If Tolliver earns playing time, he earns playing time… it is as simple as that. I get the feeling that the Wolves will be throwing out some very different rotations at times during the year. Who knows who is going to be getting minutes and at what position.

I think there was some consensus
That he was sat partially for motivational purposes, and partially in order to tank.
Exactly
and as for competing with the Warriors, well, is this an indication that players would rather be here than in an Nellie ball insanity?% (but only a little).

The told him if he works hard he will get playing time
We don’t have a 13 million dollar per year player at his position
Don’t agree.
Wes at the 2 with Beasley getting good minutes at the 3 is perfectly possible without another PF.
Flynn/Ridnour
Webster(20mins)/Johnson(20mins)/Wellington(8mins)
Johnson(10mins)/Beasley(20mins)/Brewer(18mins)
K-Love(30mins)/Beasley(10mins)/Pekovic(8mins)
Darko(30mins)/Pekovic(18mins)
If we get an injury somewhere we can still plug in Hayward @SF and move beasly more to PF if the injury is a big man or, alternatively, move johnson and/or brewer over to SG if the injury is a guard/wing.
I’m not saying adding some depth is a bad thing, especially not if it’s a good character/locker room guy, only that he should not play unless there are injuries.

I don't see Beasley being a bencher on this squad
I just don’t. I say Webster and Johnson fight it out for the starting role at 2, but we would be miss guided to not play Beasley out the gate.

I love that show
Do you think spike died ???
Wow
Gotta love the Bebop – ’Ed’s not a boy…Ed’s a girl!’ But, for the record, best character has to be Ein, hands down.
Anyways, I wouldn’t be surprised if Beasley is this year’s Love in that he’s a 30+ mpg guy off the bench. Wes and Webster might be better with Love, and Beasley, Tolliver, Brewer might destroy most bench squads. I think no matter what Beasley will be ‘protected’ in the sense that the team will try to put him in good spots to succeed while minimizing pressure and expectations. Maybe that’s starting, maybe that’s coming off the bench. Beasley’s certainly not going to be starting at PF over Love at the beginning of the year, that’s for sure.

I think at the beginning of year you are right Beasley will not start over love
This is only because Beasley does not know the play-book yet. by mid season he will get the job. His pure athleticism will get you 5-8 points some steals and a block.
You guys did know that my avatar is Ed from Cowboy Bebop right … if you didn’t than I’m even more confused :p.
Either way, great show though Full Metal Alchemist is even better IMHO.
The starting to me should be matched to the opponent; if they play with a starting lineup that requieres us to play big, start beasely+love, if they start with a lineup that has a bad PF bench defender, start love with beasley killing the bad pf… etc…
In short: decide per game who starts, but give steady minutes regardless

wow I did not see that. I need a new computer.
My reason for having love off the bench is because he might be able to abuse 2nd units. Beasley on the other hand has shown when he is the number one (ie. when Dwade is hurt) option he produces.
Ya and Keanu Reeves is the Lead!!!

Wow Cowboy Bebop on CH
I loved that show but haven’t really watched Anime since college.
My problem with Wim’s lineup is not enough minutes for Webster and you still need to slide Tolliver in there somewhere.
Not sliding Tolliver in there was the whole point ;), namely that we don’t need Tolliver to let Beasley play meaningfull minutes at the SF.
If you wanna play Webster more that’s fine
by Wim (Belgium) on Aug 11, 2010 1:31 AM CDT up reply actions
jumped my post button there
if you wanna play webster more that’s fine but then I see even less reason to play beasley at SF.
So the point is that if we have tolliver or not, it’s definitly possible to play Beasley at SF but it’s (imo) more desirable to play him as much at Power Forward as possible because
a) it’s his best position (according to stats)
b) we haven plenty of other guys at the swingmen positions we need/want PT (cfr webster needs more minutes)
So if signing tolliver means more beasley at the SF and less at PF, I’m not sure that it’s a good thing.
by Wim (Belgium) on Aug 11, 2010 1:37 AM CDT up reply actions
I think the team has rounded the talent corner
It seems like a good sign that we are trying to fit multiple talents in the same position and discussing who should get the minutes and where vs. previous seasons when there were obvious holes with no clear cut personnel to fill the roles. The number of pegs is the same but the quality of the peg and ease of seeing where they can fit is increasing.
by Breaking Ankles on Aug 10, 2010 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions
There's no way Martell
only get 20 minutes of PT each game, hell, he averaged more minutes per game for Portland last year and all I keep hearing from the Portland fan base was that Martell was the hardest worker on that team. From what Kahn said, it sounded like Martell plays better when he gets 30+ of PT each game. I don’t see Wayne or Lazar getting much PT unless we have injuries, there’s just not enough minutes to go around.
by NorthernLights666 on Aug 10, 2010 12:15 PM CDT up reply actions
Good points
They’ve really upped the number of ‘hard workers’ on this team. Training camp will be fun because Rambis might say on that first day – “Look guys, the best five are starting. If you want to start, your case starts now.” Competition hopefully will bring out the best in these guys, and perhaps it’s an under-appreciated strategy in team building for this squad. There are at least 8-9 guys who could all arguably require 30 minutes a night to develop and show what they can do, but there’s simply not enough minutes for that. On the flip side, however, there are literally no entrenched starters either, so every position is up for grabs.
Considering how many high draft picks that ’didn’t pan out’ we have, perhaps the plan here is to identify really hungry, really competitive guys with high upside and let them play themselves into or out of a starting spot. Kind of an interesting way (for basketball, at least) of perhaps helping these high draft picks realize their potential.
Consider:
Darko, 2nd pick
Michael Beasley, 2nd pick
Wes Johnson, 4th pick (known hard worker)
Kevin Love, 5th pick (known hard worker)
Jonny Flynn, 6th pick (known hard worker)
Martell Webster, 6th pick (known hard worker)
Corey Brewer, 7th pick (known hard worker)
Luke Ridnour was a lotto pick. Lazar and Wayne are hard workers and proud athletes – guys who aren’t going to be content just sitting around cashing checks (anti-Blounts). Pek is a known hard worker. Tolliver is hungry. It’s like a massive scrum for playing time, and it just might be a stroke of mad genius if competition of this sort fosters 2-3 breakout seasons for guys who finally ‘start getting it’ and live up to their draft potential.

"there are literally no entrenched starters either"
Wow, I didn’t realize that until now. That is pretty amazing, but I guess unsurprising with a 15 win team. I wonder if that has ever happened before? I can’t think of another example.
My one quibble would be that Darko should almost count as an entrenched started. He was the regular starter by the end of last year, and nobody really thinks that he won’t start game one this year. However, given that he wasn’t with the team very long, I think the claim still holds.
As a player of the greatest sport, and an avid fan
I make it a point to clear up the misconception regarding scrums. Scrums are set pieces that are actually highly organized with clear guidance and movement in unison from the players involved. What most people are referring to when they use the word “scrum” is actually more closely resembled by a “ruck” or a “maul” – a free-form, spontaneously arising situation in which the object of desire (most often the ball, but in this instance we’re talking about playing time) can change possession rapidly, without warning, and many times before it is revealed who ultimately emerges from the pack with it.
Rugby is a beautiful game.

Thank you. I learned something this breakfast.
Now, what’s the appropriate Rugby metaphor for the face Kevin Love just made in that Team USA interview? Do we say he gave Rambis the Haka?
I don't see how you can legitimately
run with Love, Darko and Pek for all but a little of your frontcourt minutes with any consistency during a regular season. Especially on back to back games. Considering the wolves want to run, foul trouble and any conditioning issues with those three that seems unrealistic. Possible for short stretches, but never over the course of the whole year with any consistency.

Pek's underrated
as a runner. Every Pana game I’ve seen he’s pretty good at running up and down the floor. Darko’s not bad either, for his size. Love’s a bit different, but then again he’s so good at rebounding and passing the ball up the floor that I don’t think it’s going to matter that much, to be honest. Once he can outlet the ball it’s basically up to the front 2-3 guys to convert it into points. If not, then they reset and by that time Love will be there.

That scouting report a while back:
NBAPlaybook included a clip in which Pekovic trailed the break and cleaned up at the end.
Here, Pekovic is trailing the play as his point guard is bringing the ball up in transition. Instead of assuming that his teammate will take the shot or get an easy lay-up, Pekovic continues to trail his teammate all the way to the rim. So when his teammate gets caught in the air Pekovic serves as the life raft, there ready to catch the ball and finish at the rim.
But coming into the NBA, he's likely going to have foul issues
Pekovic isn’t going to get calls. There’s a lot of bumping down low in the NBA and if you’re one of the guys that gets the calls, the other guy is the gone that gets the foul. For now, Pek is the other guy. The only saving grace is that there aren’t a whole lot of guys that will get calls on you in the West, but there are a few.
agreed
only having like 15 fouls for your primary frontcourt is very risky. Foul trouble will happen frequently and cause you to change your game plan on the fly (usually not good).

Yes this is point I have been making all summer long
That is why I think Beasley ends up playing more at the 4 than what people here want to see.
What about Tolliver?
Thanks for posting this breakdown. I don’t understand the signing of Tolliver or why he thinks the Wolves are such a good fit. We already have a log-jam at the 4. I still feel like K-love, Pekovic, or maybe Tolliver could be a part of the big mid-season mystery transaction that moves the trade exemption and brings us a big piece to the puzzle.

Writer from Miami Sun Sentinel answering question about Beasley in Minnesota
Q: Hey Ira, do you miss all the Michael Beasley questions you used to get before he was traded? Just in case you do, I have one for you. In all seriousness, do you think that Minnesota is just about the worst place that Beasley could go? Usually on losing teams a decent player can get big minutes, but I really don’t see him getting any more playing time than when he was with the Heat, even less possibly because of all the power forwards they have. It just does not seem like a good situation for him up there. — Dom.
A: First, this is not a cheap attempt to capitalize on the long-lost Beasley "pro-con" passion. Those certainly were two interesting "Ask Ira" years, but it also is time to move on. Anyway, what I find most interesting, especially with the Timberwolves’ recent signing of Anthony Tolliver, are Minnesota’s apparent plans to spot Beasley extensively at small forward. While there obviously is no such current need now for the Heat, with LeBron in place, it’s not as if there where overwhelming options previously. If Michael makes it work at small forward then some second-guessing regarding these past two seasons could be in order.

You are who you can defend
Offensively he certainly can have an advantage against smaller threes if he posts them up, and he can draw fours outside and can use his quickness to his advantage.
But there’s still the issue of defense … Can Beasley defend 3s consistently? It remains to be seen
Quickness at the three ???
He will only be able to use his Quickness at the 4. Yes he is bigger then most 3’s but I dont think he can guard them. I think he does a better job Guarding 4’s then Klove does.
I wonder, though
how defensively limited is Beasley? Is he terrible? Is he worse than Wilkins last year, or Gomes?
I’m increasingly of the mind that a given player’s defensive effectiveness must always be understood in the context of the other four guys he’s playing with. Example A of this is Corey Brewer – is he really that bad defensively, or was he ‘that good’ that he was out of position trying to help so much last year that he ended up ‘that bad’ because of the incompetence of his teammates?
If the starting lineup is something like Ridnour, Wes or Martell, Beasley, Love, and Darko, then how bad is Beasley really going to be? Smart defense can really mask a lot of problems. Darko is a very solid rim protector and interior defensive presence, and according to Synergy and other defensive metrics Love actually isn’t all that bad either. At the very least those two guys should be able to play a strong team defense together which will help mask individual shortcomings. Ridnour has to be better than Jonny, but isn’t a world beater by any means. However either Martell, Wes, or even Brewer at the 2 is defensive gold, and consistently playing with better (also meaning smarter) defensive players behind them will really help improve their impact.
That leaves Beasley – not fast enough to guard athletic 3’s but certainly a potential strength oriented bully type defender. What’s wrong with that? There are guys in this league who are going to score no matter who defends them. We need to accept that fact – you’re not going to win every matchup. However, when talking defense and Beasley the question to me is less ‘can he shut his guy down’ and more ’what’s his +/- at the end of the night’. Beasley should be able to score against those guys, and he’s got more than enough help in the quickness department from Martell, Wes, and Corey if he needs it. He’s got two capable defenders in Love and Darko behind him, too. Individually Beasley might not be All-NBA Defensive 5th team material, but as a piece in a system I think he’s more than adequate.
This team has the pieces to be a pretty good defensive squad – a nice combination of size, length, athleticism, skill, and smarts. Rambis needs to get them to play together consistently, and he needs to find a PG who’s willing to put up some resistance. But I have no problem with Beasley at SF right now (at least for defensive reasons – I’d still like to see Wes there but I have the feeling that all of this will sort itself out). His Drtg of 103 last year would easily have led our squad (by 6 points!) last year (Drtg is points allowed per 100 possessions). I think he will be fine.

These Arguments often forget
1. The purpose of Defense is to stop players from scoring. This is done by either forcing a missed shot, creating a turnover, or collecting a rebound. When people state “Love can’t play defense”. This would have to be based on the assertion that Rebounding isn’t a vital defensive skill.
2. You’re making a 2nd assertion that the average Starting PF is as skilled as Chris Bosh. Very few easily attainable players are probably going to limit Chris Bosh’s production to a great degree.
3. If Anthony Tolliver gets hot from 18 feet. This isn’t Love getting lit-up. It’s a defintion of a “Hot Shooter”. If Anthony Tolliver is getting to the rim at will. This becomes more problematic. It’s also hard to evaluate defense without knowing specific defensive assignments given to individual players.
4. The problem with the 1st String vs 2nd String argument in Love’s case is that we have 2 years of stats to base opinions on. This is why people like SNP, and Myself tend to downplay these blanket assertions as incomplete.
by Jose Cordoba on Aug 10, 2010 2:43 PM CDT up reply actions
When people say that player is good defender they don't think about rebounding
1.If this was the case then AL Jefferson would be an above average defender.
2. What I was saying is that starters for the most part have the ability to score more so than guy that backs him up.
Al Jefferson > Klove
3. It was more players that abused Klove than Anthony Tolliver. If had the tapes of games I would show them to you. Also Look at the box scores when love did start and you will see how many times he got abused. .
4. The reason for the downplay is pure Fandom. Because for most of those 2 years he came off the bench.
Bench has some influence,
but players are still on the same time during the game. And with the game flow on popcornmachine or, more precisely using play by play on EPSN, you can see the what happens when two opposing players are on the floor. For instance, I can see that Beasley and Love squared off for a total of 28 minutes last year across two games, despite the fact that Beasley was starting and Love was not. I can see that in those 28 minutes, Beasley scored 6 points on 3-17 shooting with 7 rebounds and 1 assist. I can see that Love scored 13 points on 3-6 shooting (1-2 3pt) and 6-7 FT, with 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
So, Love got decent defensive numbers not just from holding the Jeff Fosters of the league from scoring, but the Michael Beasleys as well.
Show me where I can get this info
I don’t believe this bullshit
IT is cool
But It does not show who is guarding who. the 2nd quarter of Mia vs min I dont know if its Al Jefferson or love that was guarding B-easy . I will check Espn next
Try the ESPN links
Feb 23rd game, play by play
April 3rd game play by play
It will show when each player checks in and out. You never know exactly who is guarding who, but you can figure out each team’s lineup at any point. That’s how I pulled my data, but it is possible I miscounted somewhere.
defense is still largely qualitative
There are three basic parts of defense. The before the shot for positioning, during the shot and after. sound positional and rotational defense and recovering are all a part of this. Running out on the shooter or getting your hand in their face is the second part and rebounding/boxing your man out is the third. Some are better at different pieces.

The quotes you're reacting to are reasonable and thoughtful.
Ira Winderman sidestepped the chance to bash on Minnesota and instead highlighted the salient point that the Wolves seem to plan on having Beasley log big minutes at the three. 1. Study and get good at whatever it is you plan on doing with your life. This will not only improve your abilities, it also improves your earning potential and provides you with stability and opportunities to engage in more hobbies that you find enjoyable.
2. Use that stability and those resources to educate yourself through auditing classes after you have graduated or studying on your own or in a group for your personal betterment.
Since most people (or parent’s if you are lucky) spend large amounts of money on their college education, which sounds like the more practical plan?

this logic applies to the study of film
as much as it does art history (for all people not actually going into the field). Now if someone wants to go into that field then they should be applauded for making a logical degree selection. But more people don’t and many never intended to.

Aha
You’re the kind of guy who used to give me money to write resumes and cover letters.
Not a bad degree, but it wasn’t that long ago that going to college to learn that stuff was counter-intuitive. Me? I’ve been on a Mac since 1990 (life is good).
No autopsy, no foul.
To all the English majors
You do have a real major. I cannot do what you do so well.
"Real Major" BS
If anything, we suffer as a society from too many people viewing higher education as some sort of glorified tech school. People should major in a subject that inspires them to excel.
Not in the USA. Most of my class mates are from different countries
We don’t value math and science like other countries do.
Good for you, Chuck
We need more hardheads, we got too many softheads for this society to support.

As a Software Engineer
I agree with you. I made a joke about limits on the basketball court at lunch yesterday…. only one person got it. I think this is the first time I’ve ever agreed with chuck!
Hey, a fellow Software Engineer...cool

Interesting Article
http://www.realgm.com/src_feature_pieces/959/20100726/reconsidering_the_superstar_theory_part_1_&_part_2/
Doesn’t give us a lot of hope for the next several years. The good (optimistic) news is that both Jason Kidd and Steve Nash are Silver Medal Stars. Come on Rubio.
A star is born?
Stars create winning, or winning creates stars?
How many superstars can remain superstars if they are on the same team?
If I was to attempt to usurp the superstar theory, I would look to Europe.
Team play given more than lip service post grade school.

ESPN
Really has it bad for Kahn don’t they?
The projected standings for the Western Conference:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=SummerForecast10-WestStandings
The quote:
“Despite a roster with intriguing young talent, Wolves GM David Kahn has us utterly confused regarding how he plans to take Minnesota north in the standings.”
Obviously I’m just a fan talking basketball in early August so I’m far from an expert but don’t you improve your standings by loading your team with “intriguing young talent” and then develop it?
That Krazy Kahn…
But it's so puzzling what they're trying to do
Get younger, get athletic, get rid of big contracts, get guys that can run and play D, and get Rubio.
It’s very tough to figure out, especially for the ESPN guys. Seriously, could ESPN hire more idiots?
yes
ESPN can hire more idiots because they make an obscene amount of money from subscriber fees and advertising fees.

I'm at least moderately positive about what Kahn has done...
but can you honestly take an objective look at the west and put us above anyone?
I think there are some teams out east that you could argue we are better than (Washington, Jersey, Toronto, Detroit, New York, Cleveland and maybe Philly and Indiana), but until somebody gets injured, we are seriously outclassed in the west.
yeah you are right about that one
The only team the wolves have a chance to be better than is the Warriors. with Their coach you never know what to expect.
Honestly? Not really
My point was how can you say out of one side of your mouth that the Wolves have added “intriguing young talent” and out of the other claim you can’t fathom what Kahn is doing to improve the team.
I think the direction is pretty clear. Gather talent, develop it and add better pieces once you see where you are next year. RInse repeat until you’ve put all the pieces in place.
RIght, and keep the flexibility to do so
Kahn is playing chess with GMs that play checkers.
But he really needs to keep his yap shut. Glad Taylor gagged him.
Biggest reason why Kahn should shut up:
- He’s becoming the face of the franchise. Yikes!
He made the highest profile head coach hire, a guy that is universally respected.
His head coach hired Laimbeer, a head coach in waiting with a huge NBA ref, who is also son of a high profile CEO with leadership chomosomes.
His head coach also hired Reggie Theus, media savvy, respected player, made a name for himself in entertainment field after his NBA career, plus a respected coach.
And after these hires, Kahn hogs the mike? If he wanted to fill seats, he’d let Rambis, Laimbeer & Theus get some airtime.
Kahn will help his career a lot more by being viewed as the genius behind all this, instead he’s a joke butt. Let the other guys talk and Kahn smile in the background, and he will change his career trajectory. Because he’s got the players and cap flexibility and smarts to get the team going. Won’t happen this year, but it will happen in 2 years. Imagine how the other teams will have aged (save OKC & maybe Clipps)
I’m hanging in there as a fan, but I hope Kahn welcomes his period out of the spotlight. He can be a hero if he pushes Rambis & co into the media.
Good ideas
I’ve wondered why the coaches don’t speak more. But the summer time is about roster moves, which is more FO stuff.
Maybe Kahn should let Ronzone do more of the talking. He sounds like a guy who could sell sand to Egyptians.

Without injuries to stars on WC teams, probably not
The East has a number of teams that are worse than us (I agree with Toronto, Detroit, Indy, and Cleveland with NY and Jersey being close), but in the We’re really only arguably better than two teams – Golden State and the Clippers. Depending on what happens with Chris Paul, we could end up better than the Hornets. But the West, as it has been for nearly a decade, is by far the deeper conference, with the East having one or two of the elite teams in the league but also three to six of the worst.
I think Golden State has a pretty clean advantage on us...
They got stung hard by injuries last year, and improved considerably over the summer. I will agree on the Clippers though. I wouldn’t put us ahead of them, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if we end up the better team, even without injuries.
I wouldn't bet on that
GS also has no bench anymore. AR’s gone. A’buike’s gone. Tollivers gone. Maggette’s gone, etc.

I'll wager you 100 Canis Hoopus credtis...
That the Warriors finish at least 5 games above the Wolves.
I think they fire Nelly and tank for a high pick
They still have theirs next year right? New owner will use the good will to add talent cheap. Then again, I wonder where the wolves front office wants to end up anyways.

could go both ways though as we saw last year.
Wolves could just as easily tank if thing don’t go well early. Although I hope not. It’s time we let the chips fall where they may and go for getting the most out of what we have for an entire season regardless of the standings.
Helps us to be worst in the west
than to be mediocre in the east. If I understand this correctly, we play more games against teams in our division, so we will lose more games than if we were the same team in the east. We just won’t get to play all those equally bad teams in the east as much as they get to play each other.
This little factor means that our beloved team will get a better draft pick despite having a better team. All because we are the ‘worst team in the west’. This year, I don’t mind it so much, as long as we do beat several of the ‘worst teams in the east.’ Maybe this translates into being away from the bottom in the Power Rankings and such, regardless of our record.
I actually dig this argument. It's an old Bill James thing.
He contrasted the moves of teams in the (then) AL West, who were shooting to make .500 and slip into the playoffs, with teams in the East, who knew they had to be much better to make the playoffs.
The idea is that you know you have to be something special, so you aren’t aiming for mediocrity.
Wolves open up the season at home against DMC and the Kings
That should be a fun one.
My advanced stat could beat up your advanced stat!
Darko vs Cousins game one
Very cool. That’s going to be a great match up right at the start. That one and then the March 20th game I am looking forward to. I hope Darko’s up to the challenge.
Since Kahnzie was muzzled...
CHers have turned against each other:) A case of Stephen A. Smithdrome.
Kahn- Say something crazy, please!
I am glad he is keeping his mouth shut.
If somebody wants to talk about what the wolves are trying to do let Rambis do ti. He is the reason why Darko will start.
Why do I
Think that this grand experiment will be shockingly good? Like 40+ wins good? Fill a team with cast offs and have nots, have the entire world proclaim that they are horrible, and then they take frustrations out on everyone else who didn’t believe?
(Run on sentence not withstanding)
Cinderella story in the making.
There's only one thing left to do....
Win the whole…..effin….thing.
I feel the same way but I think a slow start could blow the wheels off too. We need a Sam Mitchell.

Win the whole thing?
For that we’d need the Hanson Brothers from Slapshot and a fat grizzled guy to be an assistant coach. It also wouldn’t hurt to figure a kid and a dog into it somehow.
No autopsy, no foul.
Wow, two excellent names for rock groups in one post
Run on Sentence — alt rock poets, appeal to the English Major crowd that plays hoops not very well
Cinderella Story — teen rock band, someone else can fill in the audience sector.
I personally liked a few Cinderella songs from the hair-metal 90s
Gypsy Road from the Long Cold Winter album was good.
