Pieces to Build With
David Kahn's plan seems to be right now (although it's all still very fluid) that they will start building toward a playoff team with the roster they have now (along with Rubio of course). I think we can all agree that in the future, when the Wolves finally do make that playoffs that it will not be with that identical roster. That being said I would hope that we have at least some of those pieces in place. What do you think those pieces are?
I would contend that as of right now it seems to be that when we make the playoffs the team will consist of at least Rubio (if he pans out as a legit NBA PG) and Love (if he continues to grow in skill). That's "2 if's" already! It seems that we trust in those "if's" a lot as wolves fans! That however, is the topic for another post. Other than those two it seems like it would take even bigger if's for some of the other guys to be legit contributors on our playoff team. This would be Beasley being more Batman and less Robin, Wes fulfilling Dick Vitale's prediction of ROY and then continuing to get better, Darko finally realizing his potential, or some of our other merry men rising up to Robin Hood status (or at least Friar Tuck status).
This being the case it's no wonder why the Wolves don't need to update their store. Rubio hasn't come yet, and the other guys who are going to star aren't here yet (They will probably continue to sell KLove jerseys in hopes that ChuckD will finally come around). Anyone else who buys any of the other jerseys may very well be like the guys sporting the Tavaris Jackson's #7. In other words he used to be the plan, but then we got this other guy to come play for us.
Am I misreading this or is there any jersey really worth buying this time of year?

I voted for 2
I’m guessing that if the Wolves make the playoffs, 2 of the following 3 guys will be starters: Love, Beasley, Johnson.

I should clarify
If the Wolves make the playoffs within the next 2-4 years. Not this year.

Rubio?
So then you think they’ll trade Rubio’s rights?

The poll question says *this year*
I definitely think Rubio would be one of the starters of a future playoff team. But he’ll be in Barca this year.

I know I am such an idiot I have no idea what the guy who came up with the poll question was thinking

If that wasn't what you were thinking,
why did you word the poll like that?

Because Love or Beasley may be coming off the bench and getting more minutes than one of the starters

It's the "this year" part
that eliminates Rubio from consideration. Asking how many of the top 5 in minutes played will be part of the Wolves when they next make the playoffs is exactly what you were intended. It allows for the possibility that a bench player may actually play more minutes than one of the starters.
Sam Cassell for Marko Jaric? That's ridiculous! I would never have traded Sam Cassell for Marko Jaric.

I had planned for it to eliminate Rubio
I was an idiot forgetting that I had done that (that’s why I responded to Wile E) in the manner i did. If you know of any good workshops on wording survey questions and asking follow up questions I am clearly in need of guidance.

I just read it as on the team, not starting
I would expect 4 (Beasley, Darko, Love and Wes) to still be on the roster. My hunch is two or three of them will be on the bench.

I think it is still funny to me for people to believe that
Rubio will not come over and be AT LEAST a legit PG. Not to drink all the KahnAid (because it’s not what he says) Rubio’s floor is top 15 starter at PG. Really does anyone truly think that the defender’s athleticism getting in passing lanes is a one way street? What I mean by that is I did not see any assists that required a high amount of athleticism . When you see Rubio play with Rudy F. he throws alley oops and they make beautiful plays….now plug in Johnson or BEasy and things look nice………point being Rubio will succeed at least before he is 21 – kid can’t even drink yet – sad!
He can drink in Spain
Maybe that’s why he hasn’t come over yet. He has to age a bit before he’s an adult in the USA.
What a dumb law.
We're making the playoffs this year, people
We’re going to challenge the Lakers for the #1 seed, Ricky Rubio will win the MVP (even though he’s not playing for us, his spirit will be enough to carry us 60+ wins), Kurt Rambis will win coach of the year. Al Jefferson will win Loser of the Year.
And anyone who doesn’t agree with me is just being negative.

last year almost every timerwolves player had more turnovers
than during the prior year or years. new system? new PG? just not enough time playing together?. All the new guys we got this year were quite sure handed last year I bring this up because I think # 3 will be a factor again and that even if we have talent we will be playing at below that level for most of the year. whatever we win this year we will be able to better by about 1-2 points per game the following year.
That would be in addittion to each players development.
which may add up to another 2 points because the team is so young. therefore if this team can be within 3-4 points of their average opponent score I would feel pretty confident that we have some talent.
