This is a quiz that Joe Borgia - a former NBA official - writes and gives it to NBA media members. These are all TRUE or FALSE questions. I want to see how the CH crowd does with these: 1. Player A5 legally taps the opening jump ball and player A1 gains possession near the baseline in his backcourt. A shot clock violation occurs when Team A fails to attempt a shot and the horn sounds at 11:34. The game clock MUST be reset to 11:36 (12:00 - 24 = 11:36). 2. While Player A1 is dribbling the ball the official suspends play for defensive player B1 who is bleeding. Following the 30 seconds, Player B6 replaces B1. Team B then may be granted a timeout. 3. Following a successful basket by A1, Team B is granted an excessive timeout at 12.3 of the fourth period. Following the full timeout, Team B may not advance the ball and must inbound on the baseline. 4. During a throw-in following a successful basket at 1:23 of the fourth period, Player A1 passes to A2 who is also out of bounds. Defender B1 deflects the pass and therefore should be assessed an unsportsmanlike technical foul instead of a delay-of-game. 5. Following a successful basket at 3.3 of the period, thrower-in A5 rolls the ball up the court. The clock incorrectly starts and the official blows the whistle after the ball is picked up near the 28-foot mark. The ball shall be returned to the baseline and the game clock reset to 3.3. 6. Player A3 is injured and cannot attempt his free throws as a result of a flagrant foul 1. The coach of Team A will select one of the four remaining players in the game to attempt the free throws and Player A3 will not be permitted to re-enter the game. 7. Player A1 throws an alley-oop pass during a throw-in with 0.2 on the game clock. Player A5 taps the ball into the basket. The officials will use instant replay to confirm the ball was released prior to 0.0. 8. Player A1 is dribbling in his frontcourt and loses control of the ball into the backcourt. Player B1 controls the ball and is immediately fouled from behind near the tip-of-circle with no defender ahead of him. This is NOT a clear path since possession was not gained in B1's backcourt. 9. Defender B1 commits a foul at 1:23 of the fourth quarter and the officials are notified it is his fifth personal foul. At 1:12 Player B1 is fouled in the act of shooting and scorer informs the officials that Player B1 had in fact received his sixth foul at 1:23. This is a correctable error and since it was discovered within 24 seconds Player B1 will be removed and the game clock reset to 1:23 and foul at 1:12 will be nullified. 10. Player A6 enters the game prior to Team A's throw in. A 20-second timeout is granted when Team A cannot inbound the ball. Players A7 and A8 may replace A5 and A6 prior to the throw in.
