Around SBN: In Crunch Time, Spurs Don't Change Their Game

DAR-KO does a nifty dribble and spin move for what should be 50 points. He should do that 50% of the time!

Yeah, that was straight manna. There’s nothing like Darko highlights for some reason. I’ve watches this a dozen times.

great quote

That’s so true. He’s still scratching the surface of that legendary “untapped potential,” and we can’t get enough of being teased..

That's why I've stuck around for 5+ years...

I realize all advanced stats and casual observers see the point-blank misses, lack of effort, lack of confidence, and a host of other issues. However, if someone’s talent was severely overrated, there’s no way they’d pull such a move that late into a tightly-contested game. Hopefully, he begins to make it an important part of his repertoire. Face-up, jab, and get to the rim.

Me too...

I started following the wolves when they traded for Darko. I’ve watched every game this year up here in North Pole, Alaska via league pass and this team has me hooked.

All the raves about Darko pre-draft was about a lot more than the low post he is locked into with this offense. He’s a lock in my book for all star next year as the best center in the west.

Note the defender.

Believe that would be Yi.

Yes, people’s confidence does tend to go up somewhat, when the opposing coach puts Yi Jianlian at center defensively.

Awesome move!

Nearly fell out of my chair when he pulled this off last night! I keep thinking that we should try a little “role-reversal” once in a while with Darko and B-Easy. Rambis should let Darko set up in the high post and run cutters off of him – maybe let him put up a 15-footer early (from what I’ve read by TimAllen and Pop, he shows that range in pre-game). That might just open up opportunities for him to drive later in the game. Meanwhile, we should have Beasley posting up early as well. Most of the players guarding him are going to be smaller – it lets Mike get some easy scoring opportunities and puts the fear of God into his defender and the opposing coach!

I have no idea what we're yelling about!

The problem with his jump-shots in warm-ups is he shoots them so nonchalantly.

Although, to be fair, I just saw a YouTube mix of Darko shooting long-range jump-shots from near the 3-pt range while playing with the Magic.

The problem with Darko

is nonchalance.
He needs new spark plugs or something.
So much ability, so little consistency.

:)

Well, it’s not like being consistent is the easiest thing in the world… many players in many sports struggle because of that. :)

Btw,

Milicic did shoot just 7-for-16, but had a couple big dunks that had his teammates and the fans cheering.

“That’s what we talked about last practice,” Milicic said. “Everyone said I have to dunk the ball. I said, ‘OK, I’ll dunk.’”

Maybe now everyone should say “be consistent” :D

Dropped my Klondike bar...

when he did this, and yes literally! And if you’ve been to the Target Center you know how big of a deal Klondike bars are! ha!

I love seeing how talented Darko is when he gets confident. It was very reminiscent of the first home game vs the Spurs when he destroyed Duncan in their matchup, 4th quarter iso to Darko he put the ball between his legs twice rapid fire then found Ridnour in the corner for a 3 with a wrap around pass…I was there that night too and if i would’ve had a Klondike bar in hand it would’ve hit the floor.

Go Darko! i sincerely hope we can find a way to get Darko amped up like this more often, starting tonight vs the Magic, yet again i will be in attendance, so lets go DARKO!
