Team of CP3, Ray Allen, Melo, Love, Shaq?
How would you guys like a team with a starting line up like Chris Paul, Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love, and Shaq (Closer to his prime)? I personally think a good direction for this team would be to assemble a line-up similar to this and I think it's possible.
CP3= Kyrie Irving
Allen= Eric Gordon
Melo= Beasley
Love= Love, of course
Shaq= Greg Oden
I know, I know it is impossible for all of these players to reach the level of the stars I am comparing them to, but even if they get close this team would be a contender for sure! I have seen all of these comparisons made at some point and believe this is the best case scenario for each of these young guys. Love, Beas, and Gordon are getting close to the comparisons already. Irving has the potential to be close to CP3 and the closest comparison for a healthy Oden I can think of is Shaq.
Now how do we get this starting line up? Well we have Love and Beas. Check and Check. Sign Oden to a reasonable FA deal this summer keeping in mind the HUGE risk of injury. Draft Irving with our top pick. And package Rubio, picks, other players etc. to LAC for Gordon. That's the sticky part, what do you guys think it would take to get Gordon?
Then it's a matter of filling out the bench. Trade our late first round pick and/or flynn or bassy for Randolph and other moves to make us deeper.
In any case a depth chart of:
PG: Irving, Ridnour
SG: Gordon, Webster
SF: Beasley, Johnson
PF: Love, Randolph
C: Oden, Darko
I think this would be a HUGE improvement to our team and immediately put them in playoff contention and soon title contention! So what do you guys think?... Do your worst

dis iz a pretty thowed idea actually
wun uv de more plausible trade idea i seen on dis site in a minute. I say if Rubio says he dont want here Gordan is about the best possible player we could get for him…i thank. either dat or maybe package our top pick for Gordan an keep RIcky/
MAYN HOL UP!
Not bad
but if Beas, Love, and Gordon get paid like they deserve to be, you’re looking at about 36 mill per year in salary for those three, alone and at least. That probably pushes the total team salary over 60 million, for a team that under the current conditions probably loses at least 5-10 mill per year with 45 million in salary.
So, unless Glen’s new attention to the wedding invitation business is paying off with big profits, I don’t think he’s going to go over the current cap to lose 20 million or so per year.
Kevin Love is not the problem.
You're going to have to pay any good player
So where are you going with this? That Glen isn’t going to commit to anyone because we currently suck and thus he will lose money? At some point, assuming players worth paying are here, he’s going to have to pony up if he wants to right the ship.
Interviewer: Can you understand why teams value potential ahead of experience and accomplishment in the draft? Wes Johnson: "Yeah. I understand. It’s the youngness of everything – older guys like young women, so it’s the same way."
The income chicken
is going to have to come before the spending egg.
(just a guess)
Kevin Love is not the problem.
That leaves
Next year before Kevin & Mike get their extensions, and who knows if they’ll even play ball next year. Sounds about right for us huh?

I think, in this scenario,
you could deny Beasley his big extension and move him for picks or just let him walk as a free agent. A lower-usage guy like Wes (or someone else) would fit better, in my mind, letting Gordon fill the role of primary scorer, with an offensive supporting cast of Wes-Love-Oden, with Irving facilitating it all.
Why would the Clippers help us?
Especially when they have our pick? There’s really no reason for them to trade Gordon. They have no more us for an untested, slowly-starting-to-suck Rubio than anyone else. They do have Donald Sterling, I suppose, but it’s wishful thinking that he’d gum it up that badly.
Oden is a possibility. Interesting contrast with Darko—Darko has brief injuries all through the season, where Oden plays a couple of months, then gets injured for half a season.
Gordon? The only way we get him is if Sterling is crazy
…oh…wait…
"You know what they say about coincidences - they usually take a lot of planning."
& Oden - I think he's toast.

Run the part by me where we get Irving again...
we…. win the lottery?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That said if it happens and we can move Rubio+assets for Gordon
I’m game. I think Ridnour is great as a backup PG.
Rubio isn't going to get you Gordon
not even with “picks” that are almost worthless anyway.
Trade Ricky to LA for Bynum
Trade Wes to PHI for Iggy
Trade Beas to CHA for G-Wallace
Draft Irving
Irving
Iggy
Wallace
Love
Bynum
Instant West contender.
Trade for Iggy!
