Friday Feel-Good Facts (1/28)
You know the drill--let's hear a real, provable fact or positive article/story about the Timberwolves in general, or a player in particular. A hyperlink is always a nice touch.
Let's start with this: as teams fall all over themselves to give up picks, players, and $20 million a year to have Carmelo Anthony on their roster, Wolves fans can take a bit of satisfaction in knowing that we have our own much younger much cheaper version already on the team in the form of Likeable Michael Beasley.
What else have you got?

Love and big Al
Kevin Love’s season high was 25 last year. So far this year, he has 14 games of 25 or more. In comparison, Al had 7games last year with 25 or more, and 4 games so far this year. Looks like he’s right on pace. Loss of scoring production? I think not…
Yeah--
Especially since Beas, Luke, and Darko can put up a few points on their own, as well. And although I wish things had ended differently with Al (or not ended at all), it sounds like he hasn’t added a defensive presence that would have helped this team in its most glaring weak area.
Kevin Love is not the problem.
Wolves Record when scoring more than the oppenent:
10-0. I think thats a recipe for success
What you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your entire rambling incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Utah has lost more games in a row at the moment than the Wolves (Fact)
And if this trend continues we may be able to break them as a franchise when we pick up
Jimmer with their pick. No offense to Big Al, but when they are bumped from the first round in 4 games and Jimmer suits up with the Wolves he may start getting Jonny Flynn style love.
Well if he'd sign the extension sure
I’d even be willing to throw in Ricky Rubio(er), but I’ve might just be a sucker for guys named Deron(er)
I like ChuckD
… and his willingness to bring Love’s defense in the face of a hostile crowd.
But I worry about his stability if backing a team that starts Darko, Love and Jimmer with primary bench players in Luke and Pek.

Luke Ridnour
is playing better than my diminished expectations would have predicted. This season he has/is:
1. His 2nd-highest PER and WS/48 in his career
2. Highest eFg%, TS%, and ORtg in his career
3. 5th in the NBA in FT% and 9th in 3Pt%
In the last 10 games he’s averaging a nifty 14 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds in 33 minutes per game, and shooting 47% from the 3 and 48% from the floor.
Most importantly, he’s apparently the only reason Jonny Flynn doesn’t get more time on the floor.
Kevin Love is not the problem.

Yeah
I thought the Sessions/Ridnour swap was just unnecessary churn, but Luke has certainly continued to produce at a level I didn’t think could be sustained after last season. However, the crunchtime decision-making….that’s a different story.

We usually play Utah tough
and they’re without Deron Williams tonight and possibly Kirilenko and Millsap as well.
Batum's MRI was negative
They maybe in our division, but I wouldn’t wish the number of knee injuries Portland has faced on any team.

I think that their trainer's regimen
Of using a hammer for pre-game massages may be coming to an end.

I have to admit
I would wish that number of knee injuries on the Spurs, but no one else.

The best part of that video...
is how his teammates pretend they didn’t see it happen… they look scared to death of him.
Rambis is finally putting Wes Johnson in the Right Spots
I’ve seen Wes J spotted posting up (finally! i have been begging for it) and kid is driving to the hoop some. I hope these trends continue…
Yes--that's a good point
and it even fits into the “fact” category—somebody convinced Wes that it’s LEGAL to move toward the basket, as long as you are dribbling the basketball.
Kevin Love is not the problem.
Or if you don't have the basketball at all.
I wonder if Rambis has that teaching point lined up for the next big break in the schedule.

Whoa, whoa, whoa--
don’t you realize how YOUNG these players are??!!!!
Kevin Love is not the problem.
Yup. Wes is not only working on new things, he's executing them successfully.
"Wolves: bringing it - or bricking it?"
This team is
10th in 3-pointers made
12th in FTAs
14th in FT %
20th in eFG%
19th in Ortg
We are a solidly competent offensive team – slightly better in fact than Chicago or New Orleans. That’s right. We are a better offensive team than the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Hornets, two of the best teams in the NBA.
Here’s another fact: The year after these three coaches took over for their respective teams, their defensive rating improved by 10 spots or more without significant changes to their core players: Monty Williams (New Orleans 2010-11), Scott Skiles (Milwaukee 2008-2009), and Tom Thibodeau (Chicago 2010-2011).
Good coaching can significantly impact a team’s defense without having to make wholesale changes in personnel.
Excellent points.
I wonder what other defensive specialists might be available if/when Rambis is made redundant.
Kevin Love is not the problem.
no jesting
hear Larry Brown and Kahn have a history, certainly on the short list for replacements.

The Wolves didn't win their 10th game last year until Jan 29th
A full 1 day later than this year!
Now that’s progress!
"The journey of 1000 miles, begins with a TWolves victory"
So, wait . . .
. . . that means they’re, like, 120 years from starting the season 10 and 0?
Kevin Love is not the problem.
I'd say that's a conservative estimate
Now, we have to win the next 3 games in a row to keep pace with last years squad.
Both Tim and I think they can do it.

Funnest Fact
Wondering what to do with my son this weekend and I got the email offering tickets and the locker room tour.
I love this new PR program. They are funny, they like their blog followers, and they’re only subtly tanking.
Is that code for
suspended? I certainly hope so.
Whenever I'm about to do something, I think "would an idiot do that?" and if they would, I do not do that thing.
