I know this is a Wolves site, but I'm interested to hear the opinions of others about this issue. More below the fold.

What do others think? Does the angle of "what would you have done in this situation" really matter? What does this indicate about how PR-driven and cover-your-ass this society has become? Should Paterno's legacy actually matter? Is it wrong to fire someone based on a pending case that hasn't been settled? It seems like a case could be made that they should've given everyone a forced leave of absence until the case was finished, but I wouldn't necessarily argue that. I think this case is such a slam dunk and that there's so little dispute on the facts that the Board of Trustees knows Sandusky will be guilty once everything plays out, so they didn't want to wait to fire JoePa and the president. I just thought this community might be able to discuss this in more depth than the students tipping over TV vans or the commenters on the Strib boards.
