Watch some NBA players (including Pek) play basketball

Nikola Pekovic is not messing around with some dandy charity games.  He isn't showing off his street cred.  He's getting ready to collect some Real Madrid skulls!  You can view the replay on WatchESPN (formally ESPN360).  Starting at PG on Pek's team (Partizan MTS) is Acie Law of the Golden State Warriors.  Real Madrid features Rudy Fernandez, Serge Ibaka and the best Mormon shooter not named Jimmer.  Some non-spoiler observations after the break.

Star-divide

Offensive 3 seconds does not exist in the Euroleague (or at least they don't call it)

During timeouts the announcers just go to a different game and call play by play

An offense featuring Pek is less ugly than previously thought

Pek's patented move according to the announcers is his right handed hook (cringe)

Partizan doesn't shoot many threes

Madrid shoots many threes

Belgrade is a sweet place to watch basketball it reminds me of games at the SIU arena

Think Cameron Crazies, watching a soccer game with (but in Serbian)

However, it would be really annoying if the crowd was singing a song during free throws

The fans were warned coming into this home stand that they could not throw things onto the court or do other "Unsportsmanlike" stuff

Macvan, Partizan's power forward, kinda looks like Klove

It's a really enjoyable game well worth the watch, here's the link

FInished watching the game,

It’s amazing. The best basketball I’ve seen since the NBA finals. It was a great watch.

Jeez man,

no one likes the Dukies but there’s no reason to insult them by comparing Durham to the sinkhole that is Carbondale :-)

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Haters gonna hate.

Durham IS an awesome place to live, for the record.

Oh that's harsh man

Also we carried that conference for so long we can slack off for awhile.

BTW, way to ruin our opening weekend conference record.

Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

No reason to hate them.

They barely even exist.

You can also

turn on UNC MSU to see Darko play. Oh, wait, that’s Tyler Zeller. The soft rebounding and poor hook shots had me confused.

I predict that

Zeller will end up with a more productive career than Darko.

Harrison Barnes is still unimpressive to me as an elite NBA prospect. Very good college player? Yes. But I just don’t see him becoming a difference maker at the next level. Just not enough shake or slashing ability to be an elite NBA wing.

I disagree

on Zeller. I doubt he makes it past his rookie contract. If such a thing exists. Completely agree on Barnes, though. He disappeared and had zero to the basket moves.

I am still a big fan of Pek despite his last year

I just cannot imagine that a guy his size, with his work ethic on the court could be anything but solid eventually.

Hey- this is awesome!

For us late-to-news types, the game is actually still watchable- 9 days post event!

So far it looks like Pek was a force to be reckoned with, but seems like that was always the case in Europe for him. Hope he keeps developing.

Still have my Foye jersey. Hey- at least she TRIED! :--)
