Could we get Afflalo?
The Nuggets are in the process of signing Rudy Fernandez and according to RealGM are interested in acquiring Corey Brewer as well (who knows why?). Could it be that they are lukewarm in their interest for Afflalo and aren't planning on matching a lucrative offer sheet for him? If the signing of Lee puts us over the cap, I wouldn't mind offering him the exception and trying to pry him away from Denver.

i like the thought.
but i dont know if he will want to come here as not many people seem to. Then again we did get JJ so if it was to happen i would be overjoyed
my reds are well... red, my wolves are blue, i live in ohio, but i like the colts to
No
We cannot get Afflalo
Derrick Williams was going to Bust...but then he was selected by the Timberwolves!
On twitter they all seemed charmed by Brewer.
Who I heard got married very recently.and may not be going to Denver. But I am hearing some strange things such as Kahn indicating JJ deal isn’t done yet, and that we are after Crawford (Zgoda).
The Barea deal may not go through?
Is that for real?
We should bring in more scrub big men; they make good curse fodder.
I don't know about the JJ deal in particular
But more almost half of the trades and signings that ESPN has reported this last week turned out to be false. And not just the Clipper trade and the multiple Lakers trades, also free agent signings, and other trade. It’s been pretty piss poor actually.
Wow
I checked the timberwolves website yesterday night and they listed Barea on their roster. Today he is not. That would be absolutely crazy.
It would be worth celebrating, IMO

Even with Rudy and Brewer
Denver is short on warm bodies for this season. I would think that trading for these two has nothing to do with their plans for Afflalo.
Feels like they are waiting for another team to sign him to an offer sheet to set his market value.
That's what I thought too
but…they seem to be talking about Rudy starting at the 2. They aren’t going to pay Afflalo to come off the bench. I doubt the Wolves could get him, but I certainly hope they inquire. The Nuggets still need players (arguably, that’s what the Wolves don’t have…).
The Wolves are like the worst meal you've ever had--terrible while you're eating it and even worse later.

I think he will get overpaid by somebody
I love how efficient he is on offense, but do people see him as a legitimate NBA starter? Because he def in going to get paid like one!
yes, he's a legitimate starter
I assumed he would get paid too, but nobody seems to be after him, particularly.

He is legitimate
The best thing about him isn’t even his efficient offense, but his shut down D and clutch plays down the stretch.
I'd rather have him than Kevin Martin
I’d still take Martin though (just cause I know Kevin Martin is sacred ground on CH I feel I have to give this appendage)

As a general rule
Just expect any free agent to be overpaid, and overpaid + x% by the Wolves. Ever been to an auction? You may think you got a deal but you always paid more than anyone else was willing to. Wouldn’t it be fun to go to that auction with Glen’s money.
Wolves out of the running for Crawford
Lots of tweets to that effect tonight.
Would much rather have Afflalo obviously.

I don't remember seeing any figures for Affalo yet...
…would 3 years for the full mid-level be in the ball park (assuming signing JJ and Lee got us to the cap).
Realistically, the mid-level is about half of what his annual salary will probably end up being close to.
Unless team execs have inexplicably cooled on him.
Admittedly, $10M per year is probably the high end of what he can expect
But yeah, that’s the general expectation for what it’ll take to sign him.
Affalo would be a coup.
It may seem insensitive but I'm happy to hear of Rubio's passing.

An unpopular opinion to follow:
Afflalo is darn good, but I can’t help but look at his early stats and wonder what will happen with Wes Johnson this year. Afllalo did not bloom his first year, granted in limited minutes, but I really wonder if Wes can’t have a similar progression in the next couple years.
Afflalo will likely be better than Wes from here on out. However, low usage efficient guards have looked good in the past under Karl and failed to duplicate it elsewhere.
Therefore, What I am saying is I would rather sit on Wes, see what happens(my hope is he gets a Ramon Session like 6 point per jump in the absense of Rambis), then make a 10 million offer (if it were actually possible) for a guy who has yet to prove it with high usage, and cripple any cap space moving forward. We all argued about whether Iggy is worth that same money when he is top 5 SG in the league probably and an even better defender than Afflalo.
The only advanced stat were Afflalo really killed Wes in the first year was in defensive rating. However, in Wes had the advantage in steals and blocks %. Therefore, while Afflalo was always a better defender and I bet always will be, I doubt the difference was as extreme as it appeared in the first year as it was effected by system (ie. the defense optional Rambis special) , as you can see in the second year when Afflalo’s jumps up to 110 (undoubtably b/c of a higher pace of play) if you go to basketball-reference, where I got the stats below. Sorry about the formatting.

Darn it. I spent time on the spacing for no reason as it bunched.
You can just go to basketball reference and save yourself the headache if you feel like it.
This is a good point
is AA better than Wes? Yes. But is he worth twice what Wes is paid for a team that isn’t going to win a championship any time soon? No, and it’s not even close.
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.
Also, it is very possible Wes has a good season this year
a real point guard and a real coach can do wonders for a player with his skill set

I think the guy is probably
one of the more coachable players on the team.

Wes will be better than Afflalo
A 14 PER does not impress me. Afflalo is the newest overrated underrated guy.
Trade for Martin. Keep Wes. Make him the 6th man. Dump Beasley for Martin. Winning ball team.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
Wes certainly has the ability to do what Afflalo did
AA is probably the better player currently, but I am a firm believer that Kurt Rambis was the most overmatched coach I’ve ever seen.
Every player on this roster has the right to have their game expanded upon by even mid-level coaching.
I like Wes’ game a lot, but if you could get an Afflalo I think you still do it
I like Afflalo more than Martin too. Martin’s a nice player but I think Afflalo has a little more well rounded game, especially in concern’s to our team’s current weaknesses.
