Wes for Terrence Williams?

? More after the jump.

I was thinking of doing a post about how the team has lacked a good backcourt shot creator since the handcheck rules were changed in 2004 (I mainly bring this up to fit the word requirements), and while looking up the AST% of active players, one surprising name stood out to me: Mr. Williams. Williams was a guy I liked coming into the '09 draft because a) he seemed like he could create for others; b) he seemed like he could get to the FT line; and c) he showed freakish athleticism at Louisville and played in a system that required relentless and physical man-to-man defense.

There's been a lot of discussion that if Wes is moved, it won't be for a good value. But what about for Williams? He's a guy who hasn't figured it out yet, but at the very least, he seems like he can handle the ball and create for others, play hard, and make athletic plays. His career assist% is around 22%, which is roughly in the same neighborhood as guys who played the 1 for this team in the past (Foye, James, Sessions, Jaric), and he is similar to Wes as an athlete and defender. In short, he'd be a low-cost option at the 2. Thoughts?
