can you at least give me a way to go here without posting the actual link?
I purchased NBA league pass, but the game is not broadcast through them today.
One advantage to getting my wisdom teeth removed this morning:
even if we don’t play well, the Vicodin ought to make this game infinitely watchable for me.
So, what are y'all drinkin' tonight?
I’m enjoying some New Belgium ‘Snow Day Winter Ale,’ their winter seasonal. Was looking for Lift Bridge but the onsale New Belgium sampler pack won me over.

Trying the Newcastle Winter IPA.
It’s good, and very different. Berry notes right away, with chocolate coming to dominate as it opens up.
Oh, and Summit EPA.

I have a growler of
this stuff. Its pretty amazing
Its preposterously good
and has no alcohol mouth feel at all. You would never guess it is nine or ten percent alcohol.
I hate you for having 3 floyds anything
they stopped distributing it down by me
You're not in MN are you?
‘cause I can’t find Three Floyds here at all. Every 4th I load up on it when I go to Wisconsin. You can get drunk on that stuff if you’re not careful and when I drink it, I find myself getting pretty darned careless.

Drinking the Snow Day too!
Got stuck in Denver during a layover, and found the New Belgium bar, and drank a ton of Snow Day. It’s so good that I’ve bought it 3 straight trips to the liquor store despite my affinity for always getting something different.

Okay im new to watching the wolves
I have heard a lot on your forums regarding Beasely, but whenever i watched him play against the blazers i was never really impressed by him. Is he really that good of a player or what?
depends on the day
occasionally he gets aggressive but he usually settles for long 2s.
Everyone seems so willing to pass
This is awesome. Our wins will be dictated by our willingness to pass. And defense, but I’m writing that off already.
Anyone notice

I don't know if these comparison have been made before...
… but Pekovic’s game definitely resembles Luis Scola’s.
This is awful basketball,
but I think its the best Wolves defense I’ve seen played in years. Which is sad.
Pretty ugly so far...
I just wince seeing Luke play knowing it could be Rubio or JJ

Man. I am way too excited by Lee.
He is like Ellington if Ellington played good D and hit his shots early in the game.
So. . . not like Ellington.
That was a pretty ugly quarter, offensively.
And Pek leads the team in scoring and shares the rebound lead with Love. He also shares the foul lead with Beasley, though his defense didn’t look bad.
"Of what use is a philosopher who does not hurt anybody's feelings?" -Diogenes of Sinope
Not really surprising given the lack of ballhandlers.
Still looked better than most of last year though. Lots more passes, even if they couldn’t make their shots.

Don't think
Lee is a PG, but I like that he has some handles, that he’s able to slice and dice, and that he doesn’t look overmatched but rather inexperienced.
by Dr. Wolfenstein on Dec 21, 2011 7:57 PM CST up reply actions
yeah if he limits the TOs
I could see him getting 20 minutes a night.
Exactly.
He’s a fine fourth-string PG, and can fill-in when there are injuries. But he’s a 2-guard that can…dribble….imagine that.
It's early
but Kahn may have finally found some gold in the second round.
It's interesting...
since Adelman and Co. weren’t in MN yet during the draft, which means this was actually a Kahn and Co. pick.
Although, I can see Kahn really buying into the UCLA-outperforming-projections trend and counting on that. Hopefully that isn’t a bad thing, but thus far I like it.
No more Syracuse picks
All UCLA from here on out
%
All game long I kept thinking
Lee looks like he’s playing his first ever game at PG in the NBA, and overall, forgetting about potential, he’s doing a pretty mediocre job of it. And at the same moment I realized how much better he was playing than Flynn played most every night.
Now, throwing that POTENTIAL concept in there, I was pretty thrilled with Lee’s play.

Maybe some of the players would see it and take it to heart.
And Stop-n-Pop gets a bit of revenue on the deal.
Could be a yearly thing. And then do a retro drinking game T-short for the 2010/2011 season, and regress year by year.

Trade Luke now
I can see how the team plays when he is in the game. Dude shoots to damn much
I feel that Luke is not remotely the biggest problem.
But agree with the consensus he may be gone by the deadline.

Players
I would be fine with not seeing in the second half: AR, Bonzi.
Players I’d like to see more of: Lee, Williams, Wes, Beasley. Want to see if those guys can ‘turn it on’.
Coaching move I’d totally be on board with: Adelman telling the guys to screw the win and try to play the absolute best, lockdown defense they can for the entire second half, just to see what they can do.

Not so fun without Rubio and Barea.
As a whole, we shot terribly.
Malcolm Lee is intriguing. Can handle the ball and penetrate.
I agree
I love the Spanish speaking back-court
They (Rubio and JJ) make things happen...

Williams can shoot and he can travel.

this game reminds me of a classic Adelman game. Sometimes his team doesn’t look like they’re playing that well, yet by the third quarter you check the scoreboard and are shocked to find that they’re within a possession. What?! He's a very good backup.
And mid-range jumpers are layups for him, especially from the baseline. And he knocks down all open threes on ball rotation. Yes, he keps the ball too much on the fast break, but overall, he would be considered a “good PG”.

I'm just saying
that Love ain’t no slouch. Neither is Pau. If you look at Pau’s career, it really only went through the stratosphere once he was paired with Kobe.
by Dr. Wolfenstein on Dec 21, 2011 9:29 PM CST up reply actions
yes, but k-love still hasn't gotten to the troposphere (making the playoffs)
so i think he is still ahead by a somewhat narrow margin
I didnt say he was the more successful player
Kevin Love’s post game is amazing because of his amazing sense of balance, and the defense must guard him tightly at the three point line because of his great shooting touch.
I guess Gasol has the better career so far, but if you had to pick a player right now to win as a franchise, you gotta go with Love. He’s the better player right now.
He’s already one of the best ever at rebounding the ball in the history of the nba.
i disagree
i think pau’d get this team further this year. k-love will get this team further this decade (assuming he resigns).
That
is ridiculous. We’ll see how far Pau gets the Lakers this year.
by Dr. Wolfenstein on Dec 21, 2011 9:30 PM CST up reply actions
are you implying
the lakers won’t have a better record than the wolves? or that the lakers won’t win the title?
I'm implying
that Love will do more to make this season a success for his team than Pau will do for his. Of course, expectations are everything, but you’re calling Pau a top ten player and the Lakers should be a top WCF team. Love is performing better and better – we just have to see if, like tonight, he can seal more wins for us.
Can’t wait to put some games in the book so I can stop speculating.

Hmm
I would agree that the lakers are going to get further than the wolves, but I believe its going to be Kobe who steps up big this year. Supposedly he’s feeling much better about his knee which he claimed prevented him from practicing in consecutive days, running track, and “jumping”. Pretty scary statement when Kobe still played lights out last year.
Now lets not get crazy
Gasol has a better post game. and the fact that he is 7 ft he is a better defender. But love is a better rebounder
i like pau better, i'm not blind to the facts
k-love can be better than pau this season (i think he won’t, but i admit the possibility exists), but right now, not there yet. pau started last year as an mvp candidate for like 3 months, some people only remember the playoffs and that’s misleading.
Agree
If love can develop more post moves then I say he has chance to be better than Pau
the funny thing is, that he will better than pau
no matter if he tries or not, it’s a matter of time.
just like eric gordon will be better than kobe and ricky rubio will be better than steve nash
And I will be better than Oscar Roberston

by twinstalker on Dec 22, 2011 12:30 AM CST up reply actions
I do agree Gasol has one of the best post games in the NBA
But i think KLove is going to overtake him in that aspect this year. Kevin Love is so smart about how to use his body to take an open turnaround. Also by his rebounding, he knows how to use balance and weight against his opponents very effectly. Today he showed very quick footwork, exposing slower defenders caught anticipating him to go a certain way.
I just think KLove has a much better feel for the game than not only Gasol, but also players except a very few.
feel for the game?
that’s a rather subjective term don’t you think? because i think just the opposite.
gasol is a better passer, has better court vision, has better counter moves and knows when to use them better. all of those things in my opinion account to “having a better feel for the game”. but as i said, you may think that means something completely different.
you also talk exclusively about one side of the ball (curiously enough, the one k-love excels at at the moment (english is not my first language so i don’t really know if you can use two “at” in a row like that lol).
Why all the pointless arguing about who is better
Gasol doesn’t play here. Won’t be playing here. Love does. That’s what matters. They are different players, anyway. Let’s just admit that Love won us a game we otherwise did not deserve to win. He was the only Wolf who played reasonably well. The Bucks were no better. I would say Jennings was their only consistently good player tonight. Jackson started out aggressively. Luc had some good moments. But both of them disappeared a bit later. It was anything but a thing of beauty.

I'd like to make it known once again that I was firmly in the Mark Jackson camp
when that hire was made. =)

I can't find the link now, but I read an article earlier this year...
…where Jackson sounded like he was saying God was basically supporting him and other Christians to win and make money. And he said it in a rather off-putting way.
He struck me as the kind of Christian who has doves and dollar signs interwoven in the background of their fundraising stationery. That was a memory of mine when I was a kid going to a Methodist church in Eau Claire.
In short, he struck me as arrogant, short-sighted and close-minded. Pretty nasty combo.
Are sure you're not thinking
of “Michael” Jackson?
As promised, since they resumed playing NBA basketball, I have resumed watching NBA basketball.
I'll take two years of Rambis
If we end up with Adelman.
:-)
Too early to tell
but Rambis certainly didn’t help matters.
"Humor is reason gone mad." Marx (Groucho, for the reason-gone-mad impaired)
Although I agree
I can’t be too mad given the current state of things. Had Flynn been better, we might not have signed Barea (who is basically Flynn’s absolute best case scenario). Had Coach Not-Rambis been adequate, we might not have had a vacancy to fill with Adelman. There’s no sugarcoating how bad the last two seasons were (2009-10 especially), but being so abysmal did create some nice opportunities for us this summer (D-Will is also part of that, obviously).
I love DeAndre Jordon
Would love him on our team instead of Pek.
A couple of comparisons
First game: 14 TOs, 22 assists
Second game: 22 TOs, 19 assists
First game: 5 TOs between Rubio, Barea, and Ridnour
Second game: 8 TOs between Luke and Lee (7 between those two), and Ellington
What I saw tonight were a lot of passes that either simply not handled very well or just never should’ve been made. Many of them seemed fairly correctable – just bad decisions. I am hopeful that TOs will slowly edge down as guys get more comfortable in their roles and with each other.
by Dr. Wolfenstein on Dec 21, 2011 10:16 PM CST reply actions
Ridnour
Seemed a little rusty both nights. Both his passing and pull up J’s aren’t quite as solid as last year. I know he had a rough off season but seems like a more limited role (not 31 min) will be best. Also it was the first road game and we saw some true colors of the offense as you said, guys are getting more comfortable in their roles.

Movement
What does everyone think of the new offense Adelman is using with our young pups?
To me the movement was so much better. Seems like everyone feels alot more comfortable with it, especially the wings (Wes looked alot more comfortable).
Any thoughts?
I liked the last two minutes of the game..
Not a whole lot before that. A lot of blown plays, Luke playing like Jonny Flynn out there.. AR and Lee taking shots every time they touched the ball. Seemed to be a lot less ball movement, definitely can contribute that to the lack of Barea and Rubio though.
Love played awesome of course, and I felt that our guys were putting up hands in faces and contesting shots actually; something I didn’t get to see a lot of last year.
Beasley looks like he will remain our inconsistent 30 points one night, 8 points the next game.
I’m extremely disappointed in not seeing more of Williams out there tonight, when Beas is playing the way he was playing I think we should of been treated to some Williams. He played maybe.. what.. 12 mins tonight? Maybe 10? Didn’t seem like a lot, definitely nothing to get himself into any kind of groove.
All in all I was happy, I got really excited and clearly I couldn’t say that about the way we played any games in our last 15 the previous season. Heres hoping we can beat the Bucks the 2nd game of the season when it actually matters.
Assuming relatively good health
I think the 9 man rotation should be Rubio, JJ, Lee, Johnson, Beasley, Williams, Love, Tolliver, Darko. Spot minutes for Luke/Pek/Ellington/AR. More minutes for that top 9 will help cut down some on the wasted plays.
Will probably change if/when Miller (Adelman favorite) & Webster return.

Funny thing, the team that could potentially have interest in Luke & AR

I stll think we'd have to include Beas
But I am pretty confident that LR, AR and B Easy could solicit someone like mayo and a future protected 1 from a strong team that just needs some depth, length and scoring. Hai Memphis.
But we REALLY need to see Anthony do something spectacular in the first few weeks besides hucking up any shot he sees.
You'd give up Ridnour and Beasley for Mayo?
I’d rather have Beasley, even with the position duplication. Mayo is a pretty small and inefficient SG.
I think you are right in the general sense of those three having the potential to bring back a starting level SG though.
At this point I’d be more interested in including Wes though, not Beasley. Beasley looks ready to kick some a$$ this year. Wes looks tentative and invisible.

I am agog...
Every time I look at that Lakers roster. Looks even worse with Kobe on the bench in street clothes.
And yes, I meant Agog.
It excites me to think the Lakers are going to be a mediocre mess this year.
Interesting box score
Everyone but Ellington, Wells, and Randolph had at least 1 steal. Signs of a more aggressive team? Of course the inverse is that everyone but Darko turned it over…
