The Suns plan on cutting Vince Carter when the lockout ends
Not that he would consider coming here.. but maybe? Does he fit in with us? Would he be the veteran presence we need to make an actual playoff push?
He would certainly make us even more exciting than we already probably are going to be.
Rubio/Ridnour
Carter/Johnson
Bealey/Williams
Love/Randolph
Milicic/Randolph/Pek
Definitely gives us depth and scoring punches at every position. Not to mention Wes is a career 6th man at most, we could use a vet SG like him.
Thoughts?

I hope the Wolves sign Vince Carter
so that they can then cut him immediately.
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.

Maybe they should just sign the rights to show Vince Carter highlights
from 1999 to 2003.

This is an excellent plan.
Go Suns, Packers, Jays, and Huskers!

Agreed
If the wolves sign Vince Carter I’ll probably stop watching Basketball until he’s gone. I think I might put him up there with one of my least favorite players ever.
He has mailed it in for years
Maybe Carter and T-Mac can reunite in Toronto and show Derozan how to be a one dimensional player and underachieve. Oh…wait…
Rubio + DWilliams + Adelman = suck it Clippergeddon
My favorite Vince Carter Moment:
him talking about finally getting playoff experience beyond the first round, with the Magic for the first time.
Guy had been in the league for a decade, allegedly a top player, and had not seen serious playoff ball. One of the biggest subtractions by addition in the league.
I'm not sure what that quote was...
but Vince had been to the second round of the playoffs multiple times, by the time he joined the Magic. In one of his better seasons (2000-01) they went seven games with the eventual finalist ’6ers, and Vince had a jumper that would have won the series at the buzzer, had it gone down. He averaged 28 a game with a 25 PER, that year.
He ruined his reputation for tanking his way out of Toronto and generally being a soft player in later seasons. But, he was pretty good for a while and has been on some competitive teams. For reasons unrelated to his basketball ability, I would not want him on this Wolves team.
HIS POINT
STILL STANDS!!!!!!
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.
Man, I was talking out of my a&$ that day.
Past the second round.
A washed-up former superstar who has a history of effort problems
and injury problems…just who you’d want to mentor a young team!

I think he's taking a nap.
Half-assing it is hard work.

Where are we at on the whole
“put him to sleep on his back/stomach” thing? Because if he sleeps on his stomach, he might suff . . . nevermind, let him sleep on his stomach.
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.
Does anybody know the heimlich maneuver?
or is this not a playoff game?

Well thats the general consensus then!
And thats fine, he’s a total complete 100% upgrade over what we have, but I can completely understand why you’d want to stray from him.
That said his numbers from last year even with missed games are better than anything we had from the 2 spot.
On to the next option then!
Vince on the Wolves? Great idea!
I mean, that strategy worked so well with the Vikes and McNabb…%

Wild, listen to your brethren here.
You definitely do not want Carter. We are talking about the man who sparked the founding of the CTLVCOF (Coalition to Light Vince Carter on Fire) at BSotS. He doesn’t care about basketball.

The Wolves probably had the worst sg rotation in the NBA last season.
Yet, I would rather roll those same guys out, with the addition of Lee, then sign VC for any amount of anything.
I'd take him on a cheap one-year deal.
I don’t see how it could hurt as much as everyone seems to be implying it would. He’s an upgrade over what we have at that position.
There's no doubt that any team would rather have Grant Hill mentoring its group of young players, for sure.
But I’m immediately suspicious of the chorus of agreement here. Carter is a mediocrity now, for sure. I’d rather have many other players. As a part-timer, though? A motivated guy, if we thought he could be one?
I’d think the risk would be more his trying to be “the man” and forcing everything.

Vince Carter
Seems like the ultimate “averages 21.5 ppg on a 28 win team and all his teammates all hate playing with him” kinda guy. No thanks.
No kidding.
We’ve already got Beasley to fill that role.
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.
Beasley seems far more likeable
even if he never jumps over a 7 footer. But, I guess I’ve never met any of these guys, so maybe everyone loves playing with “vinsanity.”
I like what I know about Beasley
in that he’s kind of goofy, and different. But playing with him (brainless moves, pass-last, below-average D) would probably not be that enjoyable.
If they never play NBA basketball again, then I'll never watch it again.
I think Beasley's silliness and size and athleticism
all lead him to not be a coachable player. I don’t think we criticize Beasley’s effort on defense just his defensive discipline. I hope Adelman and the potential to play big minutes on a growing team, might encourage Beasley to be more coachable and use his above average athleticism and size to better his, I would say, average defense.

He's also just plain lackadaisical with various ball handling skills.
Discipline is the thing.
I’m excited to see if his new dedication to training pays off. If Michael Beasley cuts back on the Skittles, how does that look?
"Opinion ...a confession."
Good point.
If Beas’ new-found work ethic leads to noticeable improvement, the contract-year question will loom over the RFA discussions. I guess that’s a problem I’d like the Wolves to have. There’s just as good a chance he doesn’t improve or that he’s traded for empty space in the coming days.
When Kandi was signed by the Wolves
I perused a few Clippers boards and was astounded by their disdain for him and happiness over his departure.
Same for Marko Jaric.
Same for Mike James.
If you read a Toronto, or Orlando, and Phoenix board, you will see much the same re: Wince.
I would tend to trust home town fans in this regard. If they loathe a player they’ve watched for 82 games, there is likely a reason.

All my money has Vince going to
Boston or Miami for a one year deal.
He would refuse to come here and I don’t see the Wolves brass wanting him either.

Theres nothing in his stats showing he is washed up
His injuries have effected him bad, but c’mon, he’s hardly washed up. If he can stay healthy he’s a low risk for any ream.. he’ll bring you scoring, he doesn’t turn it over that often, and I really think his last year in Phoenix made him see that this isn’t going to be forever.
Perhaps he goes to Miami, perhaps he goes to Boston.. hell, maybe he goes to the Blazers who knows. I don’t see much risk in a vet min. contract for a 15+ppg instant offense.
