Did you like the wolves draft?
T-wolves nation, I have returned to CH for the first time since the draft...I'd completely forgotten what happened that night, especially when I read that Jonny Flynn was gone. I wondered if the T-wolves had to give up a first round pick to trade Flynn, then realized that somehow the wolves had gotten a first round pick in return. This seemed strange. Further, the wolves drafted the best player available at #2. Then they did some crazy Bill Belichek trade down routine to raise enough cash to get rid of Rambis and hire Adelman... Very strange indeed.
I'm too lazy to go back and read everyone's posts from that night , so tell me what you think.

Kahn had not only a successful draft, but a successful offseason
I gave it an A. It would have been cool to get BB, but I think Williams was the right move because KLove may not stay.

Yes
Williams was the best player available and Lee looked like a late 1st type of talent that they managed to pick up midway through the 2nd. A real nice draft.
We picked up some dude named Tar Guy

So the fact that we got apparently a fictional horror movie character with an mysterious identity, I’ll downgrade our draft to a B.

B
I guess if the cash swaps had to happen to flip Rambis for Adelman, it was worth it, even if value was possibly left on the table after dealing guys like Mirotic along the way.
Williams was the choice at 2, but it remains to be seen how he fits in.
Here's a somewhat rhetorical question
How often do Euro guys like Mirotic actually help a team?
Tiago Splitter might be a player…or he might be playing next to Duncan, Manu, and Tony.
Remember when Pek was the Euro everyone lusted after?
I’m trying to think of other Euro’s that have been good to great who’ve come over recently…um…
Point being, so often we hear about these guys and then they turn into Darko or Nenad Krstic (i,e. rotational role players). How’s Henk! coming? Or the ball handling whiz, crap, tall skinny dude we drafted…Belica! Ya, that’s the guy – whatever happened to him?
Just saying that Euro players seems as much of a crap shoot as college players these days.
By the by, speaking of Euros – Henk Norel is back from an ACL injury and looks to have added some weight. If he can play another year in Europe and prove he’s back AND we’re looking for a 5-10 mpg back PF, dude’s worth a look. I know he’s the butt of many jokes around here, but he shoots a TS% around .600, is long and active defensively, and is great in the pick and roll/moving without the ball. Sounds like a fit for this club.
Bjelly? Dude’s been real up and down. How one can have a TS% of .31 in 10 games in the Spanish league and then follow it up with a TS% of .680 in 7 games of Euroleague play I do not know. I’m hopeful that he has had some injuries or something, because his stats are still all over the map. At best he’s a couple years away at being a bizarre Adelman facilitator. It’s kinda funny, actually, imagining him and AntRand and Rubio out there together – they could do a Harlem Globetrotters ball keep away bit all game long.

I actually...
wished we’d have taken Jordan Hamilton in the late-first. We had chances. But, I’d barely seen him play; it was mostly about what I was reading about him, so I can’t say I got too worked up about it.
Blake Griffin was asked what rookies impressed him this summer in pickup ball. The two he mentioned were D-Thrill and Hamilton.
Euros are a crapshoot. I’ve just read good things about Mirotic. I think the Bulls were excited to get him, even with the long wait.
I got your explenation for Bjelly,
small sample sizes.

Duly noted
And I really agree. Because this draft class was so weak, there was an influx of random Euros. The Turkish Hammer. Big V. Little V. Big M. Nikola 2. The list goes on. I’m really glad that we didn’t swing on any of them… I mean, how many more Euro busts can we really handle on this team??
I liked the Williams pick
drafting talent over need.
I feel they got lucky picking up Lee that late. Good pick at that spot.
Really disappointed they did not find a way to get one of the intriguing SG or C prospects in the first rounder vs. selling off their pick to make Glen feel better at night about firing Rambawful.

I agree with you PSR
However, the idea of the fan post was to poll CH readers to see what they think now after several months. For example, on draft night we had no idea that all that extra cash would be used to replace Rambis with Adelman, I think that improved people’s opinion of the draft. Flipping Jonny for a future first round pick, and drafting Williams rather than making a risky trade. Also, I see CH readers are excited about Lee, so that seems positive as well…obviously it’ll take years to truly grade the draft, but there are positives in addition by subtraction.
I'm OK-ish with it.
I’m not a big Williams fan and I hope he proves me very, very wrong.
I really wanted Valanciunas in a small trade down, or even at #2 if we couldn’t work anything out. I think he’s going to be the best player form this draft and a legit 2-way stud at the most difficult position to fill. And I think he would’ve been ideal playing next to Love.
Can I get a clarification on the last draft?
are we in fact stuck with that weird Arabian league player that lied about his age? or was all the trades invalving him nullified since he wasn’t eligible for the draft? no one ever did answer that question, though the press sure did blast Rambis for it. even though he was not the one who drafted him, or the first one to trade for him if I remember following the thing.

I would give it an B+ or A-
It takes at least three years to truly evaluate a draft, and even more than that sometimes ( Brandon Roy as an example ). However, I really liked the Kahn trades. We got back along the way the picks that we gave to Miami for Beasley. So basically, we got Beasley for free ( from the Heat standpoint they traded Beasley for Norris Cole ) , acquired additional assets, and drafted the guy we targeted – Malcolm Lee.
Why is Brandon Roy an example of taking more than 3 years to evaluate a draft?
He was great from the start and they got 4 terrific years from him. That’s a win.
Hell, if we kept him, we likely don’t trade KG, and if we add 1 more good player (that wanted to play with KG and Roy), we may be talking about how we won a title or two.
And if his knees got as balky here as in Portland, we’d be looking at amnestying him to get out of his current deal, and we’d be OK.
because it changes the foye-roy trade from horrible to bad
Roy WAS a great pick before his injury. Amnesty or no Amnesty- spending 82 million dollars on him is terrible, that’s not monopoly money.
