What a crazy night - CP3 traded/not traded
First, it was reported that CP3 was traded for Gasol and Odom, and the Hornets would flip Gasol to the Rockets for Scola, Kevin Martin, Dragic and the Knicks 1st rounder. That was about two hours after the Lakers changed their minds and reneged on an agreement to trade Bynum and Odom for Paul
About an hour later, the deal was killed by the NBA commissioner ( the Hornets are under league ownership ).
In my opinion, it serves the Lakers right. Their greed got in the way, they should have kept the original deal of trading Bynum and Odom . Gasol and Odom for CP3 isn't a terrible trade, but it wasn't fair value. I guess many owners were worried that the Lakers would ALSO get Howard for Bynum, and demanded to kill the deal.
After last year's playoff debacle and this trade fiasco the Lakers are in a tough spot.Their team chemistry was questionable before, and it should be much worse now. They must make a trade, because they have some players on their roster who feel betrayed and unappreciated

While I carry no animus for the players themselves
I truly dislike the entitled attitude of both the management of such teams and of their fans. I guess having Kobe all these years just isn’t enough. Like the insufferable Knicks fans. Or Bulls fans during th MJ era. I do appreciate the fact that most of the moves that have happened so far were not predicted by the pundits. Caron Butler to the Clips?
I agree with you..
I can’t stand the sense of entitlement of some of these fanbases (Knicks, Lakers, Celtics, etc.)
Hollinger did a Brillant Take Down of the NBA'S Stupidity in blocking this trade
The Lakers would have given a Top 15 Player plus a Sixth Man of the Year to get an PG with bad knees. But even in a bubble this is ignoring that the Lakers Front-Court goes from Bynum/Gasol/ Odom to Bynum (When Healthy)/ Luke Walton/ Derrick Caracter. This doesn’t even mention how the Lakers would have eliminated themselves from the D12 Sweepstakes. D 12 is worth 2 Chris Pauls. Houston has to be screaming about this nonsense.

Jose... I thought the same way you did..
Until I read the letter written by Dan Gilbert which I have posted under fanshots.
I still disagree with Gilbert's Sentiments.
1. If the Lakers save money over the life of the deal (So-What?). Wasn’t Gilbert one of the guys pushing a lockout upon us because of his dreams of a hard salary cap. Now he turns around and bemoans the fact that putting an artificial limit on Player Salaries is going to lead to situations like this.
2. The Lakers Draft Picks or Trade Exception are going to be of little value when it comes to acquring Dwight Howard. The fact of the matter is they will still exceed the Cap making a FA Signing impossible. I’m making the assumption the Lakers aren’t going to Amnesty Kobe Bryant.
3. The reality of the matter is what made the Lakers so tough to play was their three bigs (Take away 2 of those and leave the most injury proned one behind). The Lakers aren’t as good a Basketball Team. I don’t care if they do have Chris Paul.

Exactly!
I think the Hornets got more than fair value, walking away with Odom, Martin, Dragic, Scola & a 1st rounder.
I think Cuban’s objection was because Pau Gasol would have gone to Houston, which would have been a great move for them, and been better Texas competition for Dallas.
