A little love for Jonny Flynn
So, I think it needs to be singled out a little bit that the little guy with the big smile who has played some very suspect basketball for us over the last two years had a breakout night last night.
All last year I was waiting for the light to come on for him and a game like this to show up. The guy is a great basket driver (when healthy) and his drive and dish game could be as good as anyone in the league if he started to look for those opportunities. Last night was the first game we've seen the potential become reality when he dropped 14 assists, some of which were as flashy as they were effective. Not bad for a guy who could be hanging his head after almost getting traded a week ago.
With Flynn's trade value at an all-time low, a big finish would be huge for our team no matter what his future is. I don't see Flynn and Rubio on the same team for more than a year (unless Rubio is terrible) so let's hope Flynn is coming into his own.

If you look at Flynns stats from last night (8 and 14 or whatever)
I think that is what we are going to want from Rubio. Hopefully Rubio will be better defensively as well.

Credit where it's due...
I’ve been down on Flynn since we drafted him, but he was amazing last night. I’d trust it more if he didn’t have one of his patented tricky passes to nobody in the 4th quarter last night, but there’s no doubt this was the best I’ve seen him look. I won’t call it a breakout yet, but I will say that he certainly appeared to enjoy playing with Randolph. It could be a fun finish for both him and us.
One of Flynn's problems
is that he turns confidence into cockiness, which then leads to his own unique brand of basketball stupidity. But for a while there he was in some sort of bizarre groove where he was consistently making the right plays. I would be shocked if he kept this level of play up, but it would be awesome if he could.

For all the criticism of Flynn
I have never seen this one as legitimate. A true statement would be this: He is the kind of player that turns confidence into cockiness, which then leads to his own unique brand of basketball prowess. This dude when confident, I believe is dangerous, not to himself or his team, but to the other team. I would posit that for the rest of this season we will be watching a very different type of basketball from Flynn and we will be enjoying it.
Agree
To me there is a difference between cockiness and confidence. Even the top PGs try to make flashy plays, the difference is they make the easy plays sometimes. After Flynn makes one flashy play he gets the confidence to do it every time. I’m fine with Flynn having some fun and making flashy plays, he just needs to make the easy plays when they are there.
Couldn't agree more
He had a great game last night, I, for one was quite impressed. I was in favour of moving him before the deadline but he played really well last night. If he continues in that vein then I’d be happy for him to stay. I liked that Rambis kept him in during the final minutes which, historically we have thrown a few away. It showed some good faith in Flynn. Enjoyed watching Randolph too. But the biggest breakout of late is Wes Johnson. Another good game last night and his all-round game has been awesome. Defensively he has been outstanding the last few games and is playing with so much more confidence. Kudos to him.

Caveat: we didn't run the Triangle
Jonny’s big night came on a night where we mostly abandoned the Triangle in favor of a lot of high pick-and-roll action.

more please

much more
our team seems better suited to the PnR… bring in the tricycle once they have had some time to gel first. (Try to keep these guys around for a couple years Kahn/Taylor)
"I haven't gotten back from the future yet." - Be-Easy
Or better yet
Never ever ever bring the trycicle, ever. Just stick with pick and roll.
I think we have a better future with the bicycle
And, it is environmentally friendly!
I agree, but Rambis seems stubborn
I would be disappointed, but not surprised, if when Darko returns, we go back to geometry and Flynn returns to his career avg numbers.

Darko
does not deserve to start anymore. My hope is to have AR out there as much as possible. Our game seems to stall a bit when Darko and Peko are in there and Darko doesn’t even look like he wants to play. Randolph gave us a nice injection of EFFORT, athleticism, and confidence to drive to the hoop and make a aggressive play!! The less Darko the better, and this means something because I have been a Darko supporter from day one….i’m just fed up with the guy.

Peko
Must say I do like Peko and cheer for the guy, he seems like a good guy and he tries hard when he’s out there, he just needs more seasoning, but he has the potential to be a nice bruiser once he figures it out. And it sure seems like he’s trying hard to figure it out which is why I like him.

Thanks for taking the words right out of my mouth

At his best...
Jonny plays like a kitten chasing catnip…fearless, darting, unpredictable.
With examples of some legitimate leadership qualities (Beas in SacTown) it seems almost tragic that his hero in life must have been Curly Neal in regards to playing style.

You guys have got to be kidding me....
I had such high hopes for JF but c’mon. It was a JV game last night. The pistons followed the recipe for stopping JF – pressure him high and prevent him from initiating the offense. Problem is the Pistons didn’t give a sh@t about playing D because they hate their coach and because it was like a pick up game, JF looked like a genius. It was Y ball last night pure and simple. You can’t read anything into that game last night from JF. Not one thing. So please…. It was one game. Try to look at the big picture. And it’s not a pretty one with Flynn.
Yeah, we're Wolves fans. What's with all the optimism?
We should be pessimistic at all times, like our good friend Mr. wolfen.
/Seriously dude, he played a good game. Get over your hate and give the guy a little credit. Or don’t. But realize everybody else on this site knows when to put aside the whip and applaud a good performance.

just think of the potential for double face palms
if he backslides. It will be epically iconic.

You mean
like that pass off the top of the backboard against the Wizards? Epic fail.
