Ricky Rubio vs. Panathinaikos Athens, G4

Regal FC Barcelona fell on the road, 78-67, to Panathinaikos Athens this Thursday, March the 31st, on game four of the EuroLeague quarterfinals series and is now eliminated.

Minnesota TimberwolvesRicky Rubio started and logged 29:32 of playing time. Rubio scored three points on 1-of-5 shooting, grabbed three rebounds, dished three assists and recorded a steal.

Rubio failed to build up off Tuesday’s 16-point performance, looking lost on offense against a defensive setting by PAO that allowed him to do whatever he wanted. Rubio tried to be aggressive early but as he struggled, he became passive.

On defense, Rubio was part of a scheme that looked incapable of guarding the pick-and-roll. He failed to challenge both Dimitris Diamantidis and Nick Calathes, when paired up against either one. His effort was just not there.

The defending champions go down and will not have a chance to defend their title at their home court as the EuroLeague’s Final Four will be hosted at Palau Blaugrana this season.
