Mini Hoopis Meetup

The last game of the season seemed like the right time for a get together of the Hoopis group to celebrate our victories and drink to our considerable losses. Tim Allen posted for a meetup at Kierian's Pub before the game with Houston and I went online to get a ticket and to post that I would be there. I had hopes of finally putting a face to some off the folks who's missives and comments have helped make this quagmire of a season not just bearable, but even a damn good time on occasion. The good news is that I did meet Tim and Cynical Jason last night, the unfortunate news is that much like the Wolve's current season games, the turnout was sparse at best...

I snapped a few shots of our little get together and if Picasso doesn't f___ with me tonite they should be right after the jump. It was great to meet Tim and Jason and as the photos will illustrate, we are some quite handsome dudes.

I will admit my disappointment was considerable when I realized that we would not be seeing Poor Dick in his kimono or kimodo or any other outfit for that matter. It would have been great to have met up with more of the CH crowd and possibly there were more folks there who couldn't figure out who was who. I stumbled on to Jason by basically asking a bunch of people if they were at the bar for the Canis Hoopis meetup. Judging by some of the reactions I got some folks may have thought that I was trying to procure some of Maynholup's favorite confection!

Tim, Jason and I spent time chatting and then Tim and I headed to the Game. Since Tim had seats in the royalty section(106) and I had a seat in the just below nose bleed section(113), we parted ways at the game. The crowd was larger than I would have expected and while folks were fairly quiet at the beginning of the game, once the Wolves actually started playing some defense and Beas and AR got hot the place got rockin'! Sadly the 4th quarter and the usual 10 points in 45 seconds run for the opponent  knocked the stuffing out of anymore hoot and holler activities.

I spent most of the game talking to an attorney from New York who seemed genuinely puzzled and amused at "Minnesota nice". He commented that a couple proposed at the Twin's game yesterday and he was surprised at the applause the crowd engaged in; apparently in New York the response to his popping the question would have been a crowd chant of "don't do it"! He was able to commiserate with the Wolves fans on the disaster of the last two seasons having been through some pretty barren years as a Knicks fan. He mentioned that the fans were disappointed to see AR traded this season but D'Antoni wasn't ever going to play him anyway, so the trade to Minny was a good one for Anthony.

To sum up, I thoroughly enjoyed the meetup and the game and look forward to the lottery pick and a meetup next year after this train wreck of a front office is gone and this team becomes relevant again. Hey we can dream, can't we?

PS. Tim and Jason,if the photos don't link, you can email me at Vexed2much@gmail.com and I will send them to you.
