Currently the only teams that can make trades are the ones not in the playoffs. Thus, I've been perusing the other lottery team's rosters to see who we could potentially target.
Premise: Love is only potentially traded for a superstar +, everyone else is trade-able, especially Darko, Flynn, Pekovic and the pieces that might actually net us something A.R., Tolliver, Beasley, Ridnour and Rubio. Since I don't think a deal for a superstar will happen I'm looking for more average players that we could more realistically land.
Premise #2: Between Love, A.R, Tolliver and Bealey we are set at the 4 and should not trade for any PFs.
Premise #3: Between Wes, Webster and Beasley we are set at the #3 and trading for SFs is not a priority.
Premise #4: Who knows if Rubio will be here next year; he has had a couple of rough years so dealing him might be possible but is not a high priority unless we land Irving.
Premise #5: My general rule for inclusion is WP48 >= 0.100 and MP >= 1000 though this is not a hard and fast rule.
Reminder: PER of 15 is an average player, WP48 of .100 is an average player.
I've only listed first round picks here.
Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Projected Draft Picks: #2, #8 (from LAC)
|Ramon Sessions||PG||19.0||0.189||0.099||$3,964,320||2 years|
|Anderson Varejao||C||15.2||0.172||0.105||$7,281,818||4 years|
|Alonzo Gee||SG||11.1||0.119||0.052||$641,141||1 years|
Notable exclusions: Baron Davis (salary),
-Ramon has already played for us and I'd rather have one of Irving/Ridnour and Luke is a serviceable backup.
-Varejao is an intriguing target based on his defensive presence and reasonable salary.
-Gee was not nearly as good in aditional minutes in 2010 as he was his rookie year (only 118mp) and has also been signed and waived by us once already. He would not be a target for me so much as maybe someone I might try to get tacked onto a Varejo trade for a second look.
Team: Toronto Raptors
Projected Draft Picks:#3
|Jose Calderon||PG||16.3||0.193||0.85||$9,000,000||2 years|
Notable exclusions: Amir Johnson (position), Ed Davis(position), Reggie Evans(position), Joey Dorsey(position), Julian Wright(position), Demar DeRozan (-0.001 WP/48), Jamario Moon (position).
Personal Synopsis:I can't say I want Calderon enough to bother....
Team: Washington Wizards
Projected Draft Picks:#4, #18 (from Atalanta)
- Since he's on his rookie salaries I would love to take McGee off their hands, and they have need at SF but I highly doubt they bite.
Team: Sacrament Kings
Projected Draft Picks:#5
|Marcus Thornton||SG||18.2||0.157||0.123||$762,195||0 year|
Notable exclusions: Omri Casspi(position)
-Dalembert costs way too much
-I would give Thompson a look just to save money on some of our guys though he hasn't yet shown the defensive acumen that I would like he has a decent TS, low usage% and low TO%
-Thorton would be a reasonable target but I'm not sure what we'd give for him.
-No thanks on Udrih unless it's just to make salaries match.
Team: New Jersey Nets
Record: 24 - 58
Projected Draft Picks:#27 (traded #6 in D. Williams aquisition)
Notable exclusions: Kris Humphries (position), Deron Williams (untradable), Ben Uzoh (minimal minutes), Damion James (Position), Brandan Wright (position)
-Since Gaines isn't actually signed by them and we've all seen what he can do I don't think there are any real candidates here.
Team: Detroit Pistons
Projected Draft Picks:#7
Notable exclusions: Chris Wilcox (position)
I left Prince in despite position just due to the amount of clamoring for him that went on last year. I think he's over the hill but could see him being useful if we move 2 of Wes, Webster, Beasley.
-I would love to have Stuckey on our team, he's got handles and a 2 year $17mil contract might be ok.
Team: LA Clippers
Projected Draft Picks: none (dealt to Cleveland)
Notable exclusions: Blake Griffin,
-Throwing money at D. Jordan is ok with me.
-I'm not sure why I listed Bledsoe but he was just a huge step down from B. Davis.
Team: Charlotte Bobcats
Projected Draft Picks: 9, 19 (from NO)
|D.J. Augustin||PG||15.9||0.098||.108||$2,540,000||1 year|
|Gerald Henderson||SG||13.2||0.85||.068||$2,103,840||2 years|
Notable exclusions: Wallace (traded to Portland)
-I'd take either of the two listed just to balance our roster, they're also cheap.
Team: Milwaukee Bucks
Projected Draft Picks: #10
|Andrew Bogut||C||16.7||0.189||0.112||$11,000,000||3 years|
|John Salmons||SG||12.8||0.089||0.081||$8,000,000||4 years|
|Brandon Jennings||PG||15.6||0.090||0.086||$2,331,120||2 years|
Notable exclusions: Corey Maggette (low WP48), Carlos Delfino (position), Luc Mbah a Moute (position), Ersan Ilyasova(position)
-It would take quite a coup to score Bogut or Jennings (I prefer Bogut) and considering his age and contract length, I'm not sold on getting Salmons though that may be the best we can do.
Team: Golden State Warriors
Projected Draft Picks: #11
-I'm not a big fan of Biedrins defense but he's better than any of our C
-I would go for either Curry or Ellis if GS wants to move them provided we keep Love.
Team: Utah Jazz
Projected Draft Picks: #12, #6
Notable exclusions: Deron Williams (dealt to NJN), Paul Millsap (position), Al Jefferson (....), Andrei Kirilenko (position), Jeremy Evans (only 463 minutes), Derrick Favors (position),
-I thought we had a glut of PFs.
Team: Phoenix Suns
Projected Draft Picks: #13
Notable exclusions: Grant Hill (position), Jared Dudley (position), Jason Richardson (position)
-WP/48 hates Lopez and I think Gortat is better (and at a great rate) but I would trade for Robin.
Team: Houston Rockets
Projected Draft Picks: #14, #23
Notable exclusions: Shane Battier (position), Pattrick Patterson (position)
-Hayes at $5mil/year or less ... not a good matchup again LA but the man gets stops.
-Kevin Martin is an efficiency machine
-Lowry gets a decided Meh... I would deal for him only if we dump salary at least stay salary neutral.
|Brandon Rush||SG||10.6||0.088||0.070||$2,069,040||1 year|
|Roy Hibbert||C||15.9||0.041||0.077||$1,685,280||1 year|
Notable exclusions: Mike Dunleavey, Josh McRoberts, Danny Granger,
-Foster would be a decent vet to add since he has shown an ability to play 20 quality minutes a night.
-I doubt we can get our hands on Collison
-Doesn't it burn that we could have had George (essentially) for Flynn last year?
-In short the Pacers core is solid and I doubt we can secure any of them with our poor chips though I would give serious thought to Rubio + 20th pick for Collison + George though It all depends on what the league thinks of Ricky.
Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Projected Draft Picks:16
|Jodie Meeks||G||12.6||0.098||.120||$762,195||1 year|
|Evan Turner||SG||10.8||0.112||0.060||$4,602,720||3 years|
Notable exclusions: Thaddeus Young,
-Brand left in just because while his contract is huge, highlighting how good he was this year makes a deal involving him slightly more palatable (if only we didn't have K. Love).
-I would let Meeks start at SG on our team...
-Wes for Turner? They need shooters, we need handles.
Team: New York Knicks
Projected Draft Picks:17
Notable exclusions: Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Shelden Williams, Derrick Brown (minutes)
-They had a great find with Landry, Billups isn't worth landing at this point.
Team: New Orleans Hornets
Projected Draft Picks:none, sent to Bobcats
Notable exclusions: David West, Trevor Ariza (wp48 too low and position)
-In our never ending search for a center, Gray is at least better than what we have though I wouldn't give up much for him.
-CP3 is amazing he took a team of scrubs that are only slightly better than ours and won two playoff games.
Team: Portland Trailblazers
Projected Draft Picks:21
Notable exclusions: Marcus Camby, LaMarcus Aldridge, Gerald Wallace, Nicolas Batum
-yes, yes yes... lots of good players and we traded for Webster.
Team: Denver Nuggetz
Projected Draft Picks:22
|Chris Andersen||C||19.0||.253||.207||$4,533,300||3 years|
Notable exclusions: Kenyon Martin, Dannilo Gallinari, Kosta Koufos(.141 wp48 but only 98 minutes but -.096wp48 in 336 min with us)
-This is a team loaded with talent, if we can get any of it, please do. Specifically I want one of their SGs and slightly prefer Afflalo.
Team: Orlando magic
Projected Draft Picks:None (rockets own the 23rd)
|Brandon Bass||PF/C||15.9||.101||.154||$4,000,000||2 years|
Hedo Turkoglu, Ryan Anderson
Team: San Antonio Spurs
Projected Draft Picks:29
|DeJuan Blair||PF/C||17.1||.179||.132||$918,000||2 years|
|George Hill||PG||14.6||.099||.136||$854,389||1 year|
Notable exclusions: Antonio McDyess, Richard Jefferson
-I don't want any of their big 3 unless they're a throw in in a 3 way trade to get someone else. I'm also not high on hill but would gladly take Splitter over Pek/Darko.
For some reason PER on basketball-reference and espn does not always agree, I have listed the values from basketball-reference.com.
