A "Yannis Koutroupis" from Hoopsworld has been talking to "sources" (in Europe?), and says that:
. . . the Timberwolves are as optimistic as they've ever been that Rubio will be joining them for the 2011-2012 season. Signing Rubio this offseason has been Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn's plan for over a year and he's on the verge of seeing it through. Nothing is signed or finalized yet, but it should be in the coming weeks.
He claims that if/when Rubio comes over, Jonny Flynn will be traded, perhaps to teams that haven't ever seen him play Toronto, Charlotte, or Detroit.
A more intriguing contention in the article is that the Wolves will not only not draft Irving if they get the first overall pick in Tuesday's Loser Lottery, but they'll be looking to trade the pick for an "an experienced point guard to mentor Rubio and an upgrade at the center position."
I'm not sure what this would mean for Luke Ridnour--any thoughts on destinations for him, or where (and for whom) the Wolves would be willing to trade the top pick?
