I have though over scenarios for trading the number 2 pick, and while there are trades I like, I still feel like Derrick Williams in theory is  the right kind of player for this franchise. He might not ever be an elite defensive player, but we can worry about that when we win more than 25 games. My reasoning is basically: we can't trade for a realistic all-star with the #2 pick in the draft (unless we get a Paul George and he develops into one), and it would probably be just as likely, if not more likely that Derrick Williams can develop into an all-star than any trade we can make involving the pick.

Agree or disagree with that take if you will, but what I am wondering is what is Michael Beasley's realistic trade value?

He clearly has talent up the wazooo, an obvious head case, but I think he has boosted his trade value this year from "lost cause" to "still really rough around the edges, but potentially salvagable"

If you throw out a trade suggestion, I think we should keep it too trades that involve Beasley as the centerpiece. So no "#2 pick, Darko and Beasley" here is a trade I think is fairly plausible with Beasley as the centerpiece on our end:
