The wannabe draft experts, armchair gms, etc. may not want to accept it, but any draft is a crapshoot at best – especially true this year. DO THE TRADE WITH CLEVELAND NOW!!! With 2 high picks, your odds go up that you can add quality to your roster, which is what we need. It is simple math.
After the trade is done, we take the best players that are available regardless of position based on their upside/ceiling and cross our fingers. DRAFT BASED ON UPSIDE, WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOSE. The good teams in the NBA have impact players, we do not. Worry about trading beasley or whoever to even out your roster after you have infused it with talent. If we did this, we would have Stephen Curry, Ty Lawson, DeMarcus Cousins, plus the rights to Rubio instead of Flynn, Johnson, whoever we got for Lawson, and anyone else not worth remembering.
No one is going to give up a fair price on a young established player in a trade for our #2, so Iet it go. No one is going to do anything that presents the remote chance of them making David Kahn look smart. Does anyone actually think Kahn is clever enough to pull one over on another gm anyway?
Also, anyone who says it is a 2 player draft is a moron. Williams is a tweener – how many times have we seen this type of player fail to make an impact. I like what I have seen from Irving, but he only played a handful of games, and played them at Duke.
Now that it is settled, we can spend the next month debating about who the best players are at 4, 8, 20.
