Ideal offseason for the Wolves

Assuming that we get the number 1 pick and draft Kyrie Irving we should target a shooting guard and a center via free agency or trade. I have heard a lot of talk recently about whether or not we should trade for another a lottery pick this year. I completely disagree with this notion for two major reasons. First off this is the weakest draft in quite some time, also even if this was a strong draft it is still a crapshoot on whether or not the player we draft develops into a solid player. Below the jump I will address how I think Khan should address our holes at 2 and 5.

After we win the lottery we should try to trade for Marcin Gortat of the Suns. I think that we could get him for something along the lines of Ricky Rubio and Michael Beasley. I think the Suns do this because they will need an heir apparent to Steve Nash at point guard. Also we all know that they value offense much more than deffense which  leads me to believe they might value Beasley more than most teams. After getting Gortat we should sign J.R. Smith because we would need a new gunner to replace Beasley on our roster. Finally we should trade Jonny Flynn and the Memphis first rounder to the Jazz for Raja Bell.

If we do the aforementioned moves our would look like this:

PG- Irving, Ridnour

SG- Smith, Bell, Ellington

SF- Johnson, Webster, Hayward

PF- Love, Tolliver, Randolph

C- Gortat, Pekovic, Milicic

I think that team could win between 30 and 40 this year with the potential to be a 50+ win team in the near future depending on how Irving and Johnson develop.
