Iguodala or #4 and #8?
So numerous rumors have surfaced recently about trades that the Wolves are supposedly involved in, and I was wondering whether there is a consensus about which trade Wolves fans would prefer. So far, I've heard about the trade in which we receive picks #4 and #8 for the #2 pick. There's also the trade in which we receive Danny Granger from the Pacers for the #2 pick, Michael Beasley, and Ricky Rubio. Finally, there's the Andre Iguodala trade in which we would have to give up the #2 pick, Martell Webster, Johnny Flynn, and Anthony Tolliver.
I, for one, think the Igoudala trade is too good to pass up. We'd finally be relieving ourselves of the Johnny Flynn debacle, and although we'd be giving up Tolliver and would never know what a healthy Martell could produce, Iguodala is a defensive stud and a good A2 player. I don't really mind the huge contract he brings because its time we get a huge contract under our belt with a player we know can produce. Having Iguodala would give us hope that we can look forward to the future with Rubio, Iguodala, Beasley, Love, and Darko. (Hopefully Deandre Jordan)
I think the #2 for the #4 and #8 would be a good second choice although it'd be a bit of a risk. I'd like to have Kanter and Biyombo, but it would be unlikely that Kanter would fall to 4 and I would never take a chance on Knight, due to our recent point guard failures. And the Danny Granger trade would be a terrible decision for Timberwolves management, so expect this trade to be the one that is made. Granger, a carbon copy of Beasley with less upside, would do more of the same for our team, and we'd have to give up our #2 pick and Rubio.
So what do you guys think?

Iggy is a good player
but notice he has a lot of miles and already seems to be getting less productive. Web and Toliver were actually our 2nd and 4th best players. Flynns contract is not that large . Would rather just keep Williams.
The Iggy rumors wern't including the #2 originally
it was more of a dump salary, get a big from Phillys end and I prefer that. If I have to include the #2, I was 4 & 8. I don’t want Granger, especially at that price.
Yep, we should hold out for real bargains, not try to force a trade
Too many unknowns & risks to give up good players for someone overpaid, who may get injured.
Adding Tolliver makes this a tougher deal to swallow
Being that he is so productive, and a great energy/character guy it would be tough to have to toss him in the mix, too. Losing Webster would be sad since he never got a real chance here, but getting Iggy would make up for that. I still think this is the best option of the 3 if we really are trying to add semi-veteran talent.
Zgoda on Iggy trade rumors..
That’d surprise me a bit because I think Wolves brass doesn’t think Iggy scores enough to justify his salary
The only reason Iggy doesn’t score as much as some of the other expensive wings Kahn has openly salivated over, is because he doesn’t shoot as much. I am so sick of these guys.
Every time I start to get excited about trade opportunities and pieces coming together, I remember that our organization has a fundamental misunderstanding of what attributes translate into wins. The mistreatment of Kevin Love was the first clear sign of this, but it won’t be the last. We may luck into a better team sometime here, but until there is a complete overhaul of the front-office and we start running things based on the advice of “stat-types” rather than “media-types”, this team is eternally screwed.

Wow
I am really hoping our FO didn’t say that and it’s just Zgoda’s spin or misunderstanding, because that would be a 4th grade understanding of the game, but would also explain why they are so in love with Beasley.
Wouldn't shock me
if Zgoda was throwing Kahn a bone in the smokescreen game. Helping drive down Iggy’s value a bit. Or that could be Kahn’s line to the media to be spread around in which case Kahn deserves credit for actually doing something smart. Or that’s how they really feel and would be unfortunate….
I love ping pong balls!!
That WOULD really surprise me.
Zgoda is pretty conservative in his reporting…doesn’t deal in a lot of over the top conjecture or rumor. When he makes a comment, it seems that he’s hearing the info from a good source or multiple sources.

Too busy though?
Maybe Zgoda is too busy influencing geo-political events and pushing out the yen/dollar spreads to move the value on an NBA vet.

Smokescreens
We say this every time a rumor comes out re: the Wolves front office (the love for Wes over DMC being one instance) and we just have to face facts. The Wolves FO doesn’t know how to smokescreen and they don’t like Iggy.

My sense its...
that is really where we are at in terms of talent evaluation.
Anytime you start to doubt this just remember one simple fact: We started Ryan Hollins over Kevin Love.
If that isn’t enough for you. We started a rookie Jonny Flynn, and gave him the 3rd most minutes on our team when he had Ramon Sessions behind him.
One of the best man-man defenders in the NBA...
Or trust Kahn with 2 high picks? I’ll take the SG with a sub-10 PER against last year, especially considering our specialty of allowing random SG X to go 8-9 from behind the arc game after game.
Lol
that 2nd trade is horrible! Personally, I chose Iggy over more young draftees.
"We're not talking about me and Darko in the same sentence." - Chris Webber vs KAHN!

"There's also the trade in which we receive Danny Granger from the Pacers for the #2 pick, Michael Beasley, and Ricky Rubio."
Apart from economic unfeasibility, that trade is literally the most absurdly lopsided deal I’ve seen proposed on this website. And that includes sbjake’s fanposts.
I bet the rumor is semi-true though
My guess is that Indiana asked for 1 of those three, cause really each individually is probably a fair trade for Granger
2 for 4 and 8
is the only one of the three that’s even remotely decent value for the Wolves. Philly fans over at RealGM generally seem to think that Wes Johnson + Pekovic (or Darko) for Iguodala is good value. Adding in the 2 is overpaying.
Don't know how you can say that...
We’re basically sending back salary and the #2 pick for one of the better wings in the league. Webster could be the 5th best starter on a good team but he’s mostly redundant with Wes on the Wolves. Tolliver is a solid backup and the most likeable guy on our team but let’s be real, he’s our fourth-best PF. Johnny Flynn is Johnny Flynn.
Basically, it comes down to whether or not you think Iguodala is worth Derrick Williams. I like Williams, but I’d make that deal.
I wonder if we can get Iggy without trading NO. 2
Beasley, Wes, Peck, Flynn and Randolph?
What do they want? Anything but Love, Ridnour and Rubio
Cause if you could have Iggy on the wing, and hopefully get a legitimate athletic center, the Williams/Love combo could very well work.
I say just take Williams and see what happens, you don’t have to keep him for 10 years if it isn’t a fit, but every draft commentator agrees the drop off is insanely steep after Williams
Just take DW
Iggy would be nice, but doesn’t it scare people how eager Philly is to trade for him? And indiana?
Wolves fans seem to be the only ones who think this guy can’t step right into the league and be an impact player. I’m not saying he is going to be a hall of famer, but remember why you are saying he isn’t a fit (and why Wovles brass doesn’t think he’s a fit) because we already have Wes Johnson and Beasley. Have both of them done so much that we can’t entertain a trade scenario with them?
It honestly scares me how eager two basketball teams that have recently done a very good job of building their team through the draft (Philly and Indiana) are trying to trade for the 2nd pick and get Derrick Williams. When did we all get smarter than Larry Bird? He had a sketch run in the mid-2000’s (Largely cause his best players he had to let go like S-Jax and Artest), but before then and since then has done nothing but a fine job of building a basketball club on the cheap and through the draft. Then throw in Cleveland that likes Williams clearly quite a bit. I have a tough time believing Kahn’s knows what is best between the 4 teams I just mentioned, if he trades the pick or doesn’t draft Williams I would put it on par with the Flynn pick for worst move he has made. It’s a draft all commentators agree is a 2 player draft, and then a steep steep fall off after that, and we have the chance to take 1 of those 2 players.
If it truely isn't a fit
as long as Williams is productive (even if he has to come off the bench) it’s not like he is going to loose his trade value
Again, someone explain to me
Why we’d pay a team the #2 pick to relieve them of salary they otherwise can’t get rid of? Please stop proposing giving up assets for salary dumps.
You can't dust for vomit.
