The Wolves should target Alec Burks. He does 3 things we need from the 2 position: (1) He can handle (2) He gets to the foul line (3) He passes well. He went to Colorado as a 6'3 freshman PG and is leaving a 6'6 scoring wing. But he also has a great IQ due to his time spent playing PG and running the offense with the ball in his hands. He also is a good rebounder for a wing ~8 reb/40 min indicating good IQ and hustle. Experts suggest his ceiling to be Brandon Roy but is more likely to become an Eddie Jones type player - that is pretty good! A Rubio/Burks backcourt would be good for many years IMO.
Here is my Dream Draft:
Trade for Cleveland Pick #4: our #2 overall and Darko's contract for the #4, a future first rounder or Anderson Verajao. PIck: Kanter or Biyombo
Trade for the 8th pick the pistons are making available: Flynn+20 and we take on Rip's expiring. Pick: Alec Burks.
I think we could field a solid first and second unit with this team. Although the team is still young, it has defensive potential with Verajao/Biiyombo and I think Rubio and Wes will be good wing defenders. PG defense is impossible in the NBA anyway. Our 1st and second teams should be able to score with good, ahem...coaching: Rip, Burks and Wes will be filling the lanes for Rubio's dishes. Love being Love. - the shooting of Beasley and Ridnour on the second team with Websters 3 pt shooting ability should be solid. This is a team I can invest some time in.
Back up Plans (just for fun)
For example: Get M. Gasol in a sign and trade (Beasley,Flynn, #20) and do Pistons trade above
Draft D. Williams and Alec Burks
