Anyone hear more about the Toronto Trade lately? I'm becoming more interested in it by the day. DD became a legit young SG this year and looks like a big diffence maker in any lineup for the next decade. He does have weak points of 3pt shooting, and defense (Which we need!), but we have seen players who improve on these areas in their early years.
I have read elsewhere r umors of #2, flynn, darko, (other filler?) for DD, Calderon (Rubio's buddy/mentor?), and unprotected pick next year. Anyone else heard this? If so I think take that deal and run! If you can get a stud SG in DD, a good mentor who Rubio is comfortable with, AND a likely top10 pick in a loaded 2012 draft you have to take it. The only realistic thing that would be better to me it getting Eric Gordon somehow.
I have come to this conclusion based on some assumptions. 1) Irving goes #1, #2 could net a lot more if he fell (See Eric Gordon) 2) The Wolves believe Dwill is AT MOST Beasley all over again, and Beas wants to stay 3) Wolves want to add proven vet talent instead of rookies (CLE trade for 4,8)
Given all this I think the TOR trade is as good as we cold get! Then we need to go out and get an answer for C in hopefully one of Gasol/Jordan/ or even a safe offer for Oden. For salary purposes let's say Jordan. Just like that our roster is taking shape! We then can trade #20 and other filler to move up as far as possible in this draft and pick BPA. #20, Ridnour, Webster to get up to 10-16? Then take (Burks, Biyumbo, Brooks, Hamilton..) say Brooks
PG: Rubio, Calderon
SG: DeRozan, Brooks, Ellington
SF: Beasley, Johnson, Lazar
PF: Love, Randolph, Tolliver
C: Jordan, Pek
I think that is a HUGE improvement and a great start to turning this team around. Plus we get a great chance at getting a top 10 pick next year and picking another BPA to build the depth and have replacements ready for starters who may leave or be traded....
What do you guys think? Realistic? Would you like this scenario? Anyone heard anything about the DD rumors?
