Chad Ford trade speculation

Chad Ford speculates that #2 and Pekovic for Gortat and #13 is a possibility.  What would you think of #2 and Darko (more money off the books) for Gortat and #13?  Draft Biyombo at #13 if he's there?

Here's another entirely speculative deal: Beasley in a sign-and-trade for Arron Afflalo.

Both of these trades would force this roster to make a lot more sense (kind of like the Perkins trade for OKC):

PG: Rubio, Ridnour, Flynn

SG: Afflalo, Webster, Ellington

SF: Johnson, Hayward (#20?)

PF: Love, Randolph, Tolliver

C: Gortat, Biyombo, Pekovic

We're not trading Beasley,

and even if we would, straight up for Afflalo would be a really bad trade.

Disagree

No idea if we’d trade Beasley, but I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Inefficient SF (Beasley) for an efficient, slightly above average SG (Afflalo). We’d improve the team and make some room for Webster/Wes Johnson/Hayward at the 3 with that move.

by skelman on Jun 17, 2011 3:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Beasley for Afflalo alone, no way.

by abcnerdd on Jun 17, 2011 5:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Why is Beasley such a throwaway here?

Beasley seems to work hard and gets along with teammates. Sure, he is inconsistent and not a leader, but he can get points on his own, something no other Wolf could do. And it is something every NBA team needs to have, a go-to scorer. We don’t have another. Why so quick to dump him? Big Al was a proven scorer and we ran away from him, as well. It didn’t improve the team.

I would love that lineup

But I would definitely want more back for Beasley, he is still a stud even with his deficiencies.

I'd love that lineup

Seriously, this would make me a very happy Wolves fan.

by WolvesFan03 on Jun 17, 2011 3:13 PM CDT reply actions

No way

Thatd be an awful move the Beasley trade. The Thunder know they made a mistake trading the better, younger and non injury prone Jeff Green because he wasnt as good as a fit as a true center would be. Late in games who played the 4th quarter at center all playoffs for the Thunder I might ask? Well it never was Perkins it was Nick Collison because Perkins was ineffective and in foul trouble and he couldnt guard Dirk or Chandler he was a liability.

Still a very good trade for the Thunder

Jeff Green isn’’t very good at all and is going to want a contract for much more than he’s worth.

Perkins is a very solid C that clearly wasn’t 100% healthy all year.

Pass....

Both offers suck. We need to keep the #2 and Beasley and see what we’ve got instead of Kahn making some dumb ass trade.

by mnsportsjunkie on Jun 17, 2011 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

because after we see what we've got

We’ve now got two all-star level PFs or we’ve got a all-star and another PF who isn’t worth the well-priced >.200wp48 center that is Gortat.

by zebano on Jun 17, 2011 3:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Throw in Dudley, exchange Darko for Pek and we have a deal.

Add whoever needs to be added to make the numbers matchup(Webster or Flynn) and I’m sold.

by Magoo12218 on Jun 17, 2011 3:57 PM CDT reply actions

Dudley would be nice

but I heard the Suns view him as a great piece to their core and they got him in a steal of a trade from Charlotte kind of like how we got Beasley

I would love this trade...

athough I would love to see what Pek has. Also, while I like Beas, he is not a good fit for us and Afflalo is a solid SG which IS a huge need for us. Although, we could try for JR Smith in free agency without giving up assests. Rubio, JR, Beas, Love & Gortat with Luke, Webster, AR, AT, Darko, Wes, and the #13 (Burks?) is a much better team…that is when we fire our coach and get a better one.

Timberwolves' record: Undefeated (5-11, if you go by so-called "Advanced Stats")

Depends

I wouldn’t trade the high-ceiling Beasley for limited-ceiling Afflalo prior to the season. I think year two will tell us what we need to know about Beas and his fit with the team. Maybe at mid-season we could swing that trade if desired. I would trade Beas this year for another high ceiling guy.

Really like that lineup...

I would absolutely trade 2 and Pek for Gortat and 13. I really like Afflalo too, but he’s not the slasher we need at the 2. However, if it’s straight up for Beasley, I do that in a heartbeat…

by mutleyil on Jun 17, 2011 8:53 PM CDT reply actions

i would do both those trades in a heartbeat

and i would add 13 + 20 for 5 o 6 to try and nab vesely.

rubio – afflalo – vesely – love – gortat is a top5 defensive team in the league, probably top3 if you add the correct people on the coaching staff.
offensively there is a good mix of athlethicism and shooting that you need to run an open court scheme. the second unit would be solid too, although i would trade flynn for another perimeter defender off the bench, maybe a sam young from memphis?
it’s obviously speculation, but it could work in my opinion (no trade is clearly lopsided which it usually is the case).

by kuntraidor on Jun 18, 2011 9:23 AM CDT reply actions

i think ur right …especially with vesely…he could average 2 steals and 2 blocks a season…maybe not as rookie…cauze he would get a lot of tuff couls…cauze Minny isnt LA !!!

by Asshole88 on Jun 18, 2011 1:21 PM CDT up reply actions

If they get Gortat they don't need Bismack

They could get Burks, but I want a guy who can shoot. Maybe Marshon Brooks. Or go for the defender Chris Singleton. I want to keep Beasley another year, too. I just wonder what Dwane Casey or someone besides Rambis could get from him. And it’s gotta be Darko leaving, not Peks.

by Neumms on Jun 18, 2011 10:59 AM CDT reply actions

i dont think MIN will give up Darko either….look around the LG and tell me which center with less money was more productive than Darko and is available 4 Minny….he played 22-24 min…and i think he was solid….i mean look at Haywood of Dallas…he gets nearly 11 millions…for 4 points and 5 rebounds and a block? are u kiddin me?? The wolves need a better PG (maybe Rubio) and a change at SF SG….they’re just playin out of position!!! And u can see it when they have to play defense….i watched all wolves game …and the 3 point defense was the worst I’v ever seen…so is this Darkos fault? i dont think so ….especially for 4 millions a year?
