Director of Analytics and Research - Minnesota Timberwolves (Minneapolis, MN) SUMMARY The Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx are seeking a Director of Research and Analytics. The Director will be responsible for analyzing and developing strategic performance for all functions of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx. This individual's primary responsibility is to help the organization make data driven decisions. This is a new position charged with developing a "center of excellence" within the Timberwolves and Lynx franchises. This new department will be responsible for managing the integration of research and analysis across all areas of the company. This position will directly manage the database marketing staff of two individuals and provide guidance to other analytical staff housed in other departments. The position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications/Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and will interact with other team executives on a regular basis. Duties include but are not limited to: Ticket buyer segmentation, consumer and market research projects, ROI analysis, Ticketing Pricing/Inventory analysis, Omniture website tracking, managing Microsoft Dynamics CRM system, establishment of a new Eloqua direct-marketing platform, driving utilization of research tools (such as Scarborough), inventory management (Ticketmaster and Marketline) platforms, and other analytical/strategic projects. JOB SPECIFICS - Responsible for guiding research across the company. Company currently has access to multiple quantitative surveys performed on an annual basis. This position will provide additional analysis of those studies, drive incremental research projects and guide departments in adopting necessary rigor in daily job functions. - Develop analysis that will inform and guide ticket pricing conversations. - Manage single game ticket sales regression models and analysis of ticket promotions. Responsibility includes improving/running the regression model, comparing current sales versus expected sales, and consulting on appropriate marketing actions. Successful modeling will then be replicated in other departments such as group sales, premium seating rentals, etc. - Oversee the continued transition to the new CRM system. This includes training and monitoring sales staff use of CRM, customizing CRM to match business needs, and the ability to accurately report of out the CRM. - Responsible for providing projected sales data to the management team. Project upcoming new sales based on sales rep. inputs into the CRM. Determine best lead sources, reps., products, and create strategy to optimize the opportunity for success. - Manage reporting and dashboards using Microsoft SharePoint. - Measure relationship marketing and sales campaign effectiveness (ROI). - Other duties include: being the overall ticketing consultant, work process improvement, survey analysis, and ad-hoc modeler. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or related field. MBA is a plus. - Minimum seven to twelve (7-12) years of professional experience in analytical or consulting role. - Minimum of 2 years staff management experience required. - Strategic thinking and leadership skills required. - Must have excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.). Statistical software (SPSS, SAS, Stata, etc.) and SQL experience is a plus. - CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) experience is a plus. - Ability to collaborate and work with other departments/organizations. - Must be organized and pay strong attention to detail. - Strong interpersonal and customer relationship skills required. - Knowledge of general predictive modeling techniques such as regression analysis, customer profiling and segmentation, needs analysis, financial modeling, and other types of quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. - Maturity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic are essential.
