Wolves interview Terry Porter
Former Timberwolves player and former Milwaukee and Portland head coach Terry Porter today is the first candidate to formally interview for the team’s head-coaching job, according to league sources. (Wolves GM) David Kahn has made background research calls and talked by phone to at least one other candidate — Don Nelson — but Porter is the first to come to town to interview with Kahn and likely owner Glen Taylor. From MSNBC How does everyone feel about this? Porter is a former TWolf and was a great mentor to Starbury early on, a good sell for being Rubio's first NBA coach. He also has a track record of functional, high-paced offensive schemes as a coach. However, his overall record is pretty mundane, especially with the Suns who fired him less than a year into the job. Also, his talk about defense has clearly never panned into actual defense.
