Postcard from Corey Brewer #2
Hey guys! So how have you been? Pretty good, I hope.. I was just laying outside in my coastal lily garden, petting my goat, when all of a sudden I suddenly thought of you - the people who spend their free time debating my ability to play basketball. I got to thinking you guys must be super smart, but that maybe you didn't realize something- I accomplished far more than any twolves player besides KG, and I almost literally needed to do nothing! It was really cool- I went to Texas, which is connected to the rest of the USA by its border, and I started shooting basketballs with these guys before they went out at night and won championships.. they were pretty nice! Anyways, I thought it might interest you to know that if you want a championship, it would be way easier to just go to Texas like I did somehow. It might save you a lot of valuable time. I just remember when I was playing basketball in Minnesota and that old man Glen would watch me play and point and shout, "Too expensive! Not worth a contract on a championship team!" When he made that mean goat noise at me I sometimes even cried. So just so you all know, it is waaay- I mean way- easier to do good in Texas. I barely had to do anything.. I like you guys, so I thought I should tell you to try it. Thanks again for that book about the power within myself See you soon Corey

If you didn't "do Nothing"
What did you really accomplish? You always were and will continue to be a complete bust, your only serviceable skill, defense, is overrated and negated by your putrid offensive abilities. Enjoy Texas.
Derrick Williams was going to Bust...but then he was selected by the Timberwolves!
would u guys rather have noah in that draft

eh i don't think his offensive game is what the wolves are looking for
and I can’t see any reason why they’d need him on defense
Since McHale was doing the drafting
who the #$#$ knows what was going through his mind? Prolly “Which guy looked better during the handful of March Madness games I watched.”
He was probably under the delusion that they were building for another run around KG, and Noah might be a PF (KG’s position). Also, for all his talk about ‘smash mouth’ and ‘defense’ McHale liked to pick players based on their offense (Craig Smith, Randy Foye, Nikola Pekovic, etc.) I think he was fooled by Brewer’s tourney run (shocking) into thinking he was effective offensively.

to be honest I was just messing with you sorry
Noah is a good player. When they came out of college I don’t know who the hotter prospect was. Noah was considered to be very raw offensively and I don’t know if they knew he’d be THIS good on defense.
Of course, as would all 30 NBA teams
Noah is a starting quality C, the hardest position to fill, who plays D and rebounds.
Corey is a 5th wing on a decent team. Vet min territory.

Or put another way
If the Wolves had called up the Bulls instead of NYC and offered Brewer for Noah, how long until CHI hangs up. 1 second? .05 seconds?

I don't think it was really from Brewer
You can probably let bygones be.
So you are trying to tell me
Corey Brewer did NOT write this postcard…consider my mind BLOWN.

well put
And zero_on_up was just writing this post for a friend, it’s not even his post. Big deal that he wrote it at 3:30 AM in the morning, who are we to judge?

you're right,
I’m a lamentable character at any hour of the day. Woe to the person so bored they must stoop to my level! Woe and skittles!
And it was inspired by-, not written for-, btw (means by the way, btw)
I like to diss my whipping boy du jour
That has moved from Gomes to Brewer to Ellington over the years. Feel free to disagree.
Derrick Williams was going to Bust...but then he was selected by the Timberwolves!
I think Brewer can be a solid contributor to the Mavs
I think on a good team, Brewer will not be expected to go beyond his limitations.
I think on a good Team
Corey Brewer shouldn’t play at all.
Derrick Williams was going to Bust...but then he was selected by the Timberwolves!
I feel like some people on this website will be saying this about Brewer even when he enters his late 30's
I think on a good team, Brewer will not be expected to go beyond his limitations.

well if he could knock down a corner 3
he could be similar to bowen, who had a pretty nice NBA career.
Bowen
was always more disciplined with the ball than Brewer, and always less turnover prone than Brewer has always been. But yes, if Brewer could hit 40% from behind the arc like Bowen did, he would certainly be a valuable player. His defense isn’t on Bowen’s level either, but the bright side is Bowen was a really big meanie-face, and Corey isn’t.
but if he was playing within his limitations
I.e. playing D and on offense spot up for three, then he wouldn’t be so turnover prone.
Yes.
That’s my point. Even IF he learned to make a spot up 3 (note: 26% 3P shooter) he’d still have to play without the reckless abandon on offense that makes him effective on defense. That’s significantly more difficult than learning how to shoot. It’s easier for a coach to just put him on the bench than to teach him how to play basketball.
I accomplished more than any other wolves player besides KG,
Sam Cassell, Chauncey Billups, Adrian Branch, Brian Cardinal, Michael Doleac, Antoine Walker, Stacey King, Luc Longley, Darko Milicic and Wayne Simien… guess I’m not so special after all.
Maybe Darko, Wayne, Mike, Antoine and I can go luck into another bench championship in the Quatar league with that Ngumbo dude once my contract is up. God knows none of us are getting another one in the States.
there's a whole lot of hostility towards Corey Brewer going on here
and I’m not sure it’s warranted.
Exactly what I'm saying
The post is fresh and funny.
But all the jabs on the man? Take it easy fellows.
thanks man
CB is easily my favorite player in the nba.. I find his good natured innocence endearing and somewhat hilarious.. this was just me goofing off, riffing on that fact. I also enjoy imagining glen taylor berating his players and making animal noises at them. The previous post referencing weed was my creative inspiration… never ideal to explain your jokes, but hey I’m not getting paid for this!
