Sources Should Say: Michael Beasley Trades
Poor Michael Beasley. Sure, the man has his faults and herbal demons, but he’s also had his share of bad luck. And no, being pulled over last year with 16 grams of marijuana isn’t bad luck- it’s bad planning. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/06/michael-beasley-cited-marijuana-speeding_n_891627.html
But still, having had the chance to watch Beasley under a microscope while he played in Miami with those pre-LeBron Heat teams (yes, there was a team in Miami before "The Decision," believe it or not), one thing was clear- the man was as naturally talented as they come. He has magnanimous, ambidextrous hands, a silky median-range jump shot, a surprisingly quick first step - basically all the physical tools a forward needs. The problem was, on a Heat team that takes pride on defense and professionalism, Beasley was as out of place as Will Smith in his first few years with the Banks family. "Goofy" and "laid-back" are two words that fairly described Beasley. They’d also never be used in the same sentence as "Heat culture." Beasley’s lack of defensive awareness and maturity combined with the fact that he played the same position as team captain Udonis Haslem, meant he never hit his stride in Miami. After being dealt in 2010 in what amounted to a salary dump, he found himself in the basketball wilderness known as Minnesota, forced to change position without a competent point guard in sight. Still, last year he was their second leading scorer (19 ppg) and played well. Unfortunately for Beasley, there’s a new coach in town and Adelman doesn’t appear to be sold on him. Combine that with Minnesota drafting Derrick Williams, another guy who shares his position, and it appears as though Beasley’s time in Minnesota may be coming to an end. With that in mind, let’s look at few trades that make sense for Minnesota, while also not being entirely unkind to Mr. Beasley....

Every single one of those proposals...
is a steal for us. Spending most of my time on Canis Hoopus, I tend to forget how overrated players like Beasley are across the league. There are bound to be a few front-offices that similarly value Beasley. I would be ecstatic if we could swing that kind of a trade.
Yes Please
I mean, at this point, I’m just hoping they don’t extend him the qualifying offer so they can open up a roster spot and roll that $8 million + into Love’s extension. Anything better than that would be gravy.
He was acquired for 2nd round picks. But, you really never do know.
Yeah
I can’t believe he thinks those are fair trades. Very, very fair to Mr. Beasley indeed.

I have the same problem
I look at Beasley and I think could I even get a bag of skittles for him? The fact that a non-wolves fan thinks we could get a Allen/Morrow/Iggy/Reddick is awesome. I would take any one of those guys over Beasley immediately.
I like beasley
But I’d take any one of those trades
I still think if Beasley’s going to have a career, it might be as a smallball 4. I just think his good-first-step/marginal-long-momentum combo would play better closer to the basket.
But it’s not like the Wolves are in a position to audition/display him in that role.
I think Beasley turns it around at some point
his time is running out here though. and running out fast
I don't know what an art house is, I don't know what goes on in an art house, I have never been in an art house, and I can't imagine it's any place I ever want to be.
Straight up for Morrow...
Sign me up.
Michael Beasley is a Small Forward. Derrick Williams is a Power Forward.
Gerald Henderson
CHA is so offensively challenged, they’d be a team I’d look into

I would do any of those
Frankly, I doubt the other teams would be interested. Philly and Orlando certainly wouldn’t, nor would Boston. Maybe for Morrow. I would do it.

Beasley
Would look GOOOOOD in Boston Green (my second favorite team since i was a kid), and Ray Allen for 3 from Rubio would be awesome!
I watch this team, and i care so much, simply because i can’t not. It’s just a part of who i am..
No
we should keep the man. He has the perfect talent to fit in our system. He can make open jumpers consistently and drive well too. He’s athletic and quick enough to be a good one on one and help defender. He just needs to learn to play without the ball better, and play within the offense. It would be a mistake to ship him out without having him playing an entire season with our team.

He does none of those things
He does not make jumpers consistently. He doesn’t drive well. He isn’t a good one on one defender.

It’s unfortunate the writer of this blog is not an NBA GM.

The teams I would look to move Beasley too
Milwaukee, Char, Washington, N.O., Pheonix, Orlando
these are your “offensively challenged” teams that have questionable management (N.O. excluded), I think if any team is going to “over value” Beasley it’s going to be one of these teams that is desperate to score more than 80 points a game.
I would be really tempted to see if WASH would have any interested in us taking Rashard Lewis and their unprotected 1st this year for Beasley/Randolph.
They are desperate for offense, I think they’ve scored under 80 points in three straight games and I can’t imagine they want to keep Lewis contract around on this team. They have a squad filled with players just like Beasley, and while I can’t imagine they want more players like Beasley….they did however assemble the team they have.
Probably gotta add Wes in the trade to even contracts out.

You think they'd give up the best chance at the #1 pick just to salary dump Lewis?
As bad as his contract has been, next year is the final year of it. And he can be dumped for half his salary (which still means eating 12.5M).
I forget how bad they are
I figured with Wall they’d at least be around 5th worst in the league.

How is Lewis' final year only half guaranteed?
I thought his last year was a team option.

They're horrible.
They need the draft pick even more than we do…
I like Beasley, he has been trying so hard on D this year.
But everything shows he is better (at least he was before he slimmed down) as a four. I hope he gets the chance to play four beside a good defensive center sometime.
I don’t really want him to go, because he is so talented. but I sure don’t want the wolves to pay him 8 million at this point, as he can’t put it together. I’m glad it is not me making that decision
The reality is
Beasley was traded for a 2nd round pick. Yes, it was the Heat dumping salary. But 28 other teams probably could have offered Miami a 2nd round pick if they WANTED Beasley.

Beasley was traded for a 2nd round pick. Yes, the Heat were dumping salary. However, 28 teams could scrounge up a 2nd round pick if they really wanted Beasley.

Missing the point.
Not every team could take on his salary straight up for a couple second rounders. The field was limited. Also that field was narrowed as Miami wanted to move him to the Western Conference in case he became really good. He was worth more than 2 second round picks at that time on the open market. Miami wasn’t facing an open market. I won’t speculate about his current value. Hollinger doesn’t think it’s very good.

Here is Michael Beasley's value
A) (Most Importantly) 7 million dollar expiring contract. He is an RFA, no need to extend him, if he works out you can give him a deal, if he doesn’t he can walk and you have cleared up 7 million dollars
B) He theoretically is very offensively skilled. for offensive challenged teams like the teams I have mentioned above he will have some value
C) Presumed upside….We’ve been over this countless times.
OJ Mayo, Marcus Thornton (contract), Gerald Henderson, JJ Reddick are very legitimate and likely trading options for Michael Beasley
if the Wolves are hoping for a pick, again I think you look at Milwaukee and Charlotte as legitimate teams that could have 8th seed aspirations if they can score more points
I don't know what an art house is, I don't know what goes on in an art house, I have never been in an art house, and I can't imagine it's any place I ever want to be.
If you want to give him to an offensively challenged team
Beas to NO for Okafor. I have no idea what the salary implications are here. If we could throw in a Johnson/Ellington/Pek/Darko or two and get a Vasquez or Bellinelli that would be awesome.
Right
This is the kinda trade you gotta look into for Beasley
and it absolutely could happen

Option A
is the reason Beasley is more valuable as an unsigned RFA on the Wolves Roster
unless they get something sweet….so i say, he’s a wolf at the end of the year.

The question is, does Beasley want to resign here?
Would be mind signing less than 7million a year?
