Why are the effing around?
The Wolves are like the worst meal you've ever had--terrible while you're eating it and even worse later.

Actually, it's Charlie, I shouldn't really assume it's accurate.

Exactly
In the headline was the conspicuous Charley qualifier of “might” – meaning no offer has been made, Charley’s just guessing what it could be. It’s about as accurate as asking someone on the street what they think the Wolves offered Love.

Sorry
“likely” was the word, not ‘might’. Either way, this isn’t news. He doesn’t even quote any ‘sources’.

it is shooter....
…..but i can guarantee you he is one of kahn’s most loyal stenographers. he is the guy who came up with patric young out of nowhere last year.
So Westbrook $ > Love $ ?
You are joking little birdy.

What is the "max"?
Isn’t it a ‘soft number’ until the proceeding year’s cap is announced? Maybe they are just trying to firm up some future dollars (possibly save a couple mill in the process) so they know earlier what they’re working with…… No idea.
But it sounds REALLY stupid to me, if they are risking pissing off KLove or his agent.
My understand is that the max for Love is 25% of the salary cap with annual raises of no more than 7.5% for up to a total contract length of 5 years.
If he doesn’t want the 5th year that’s a shame. According to Sham Sports the 2011/2012 max salary for a player with 0-6 years of service is $12,922,194 which is lower than the $14,511,000 I calculated, but I’d take their numbers over mine.
$12,922,194 year one with raises of $969,164.55 ( I don’t believe the raises are allowed to compound)
$13,891,358.55 year two
$14,860,523.10 year three
$15,829,697.65 year four
Total for 4 year deal if he doesn’t get offered the 5th year or doesn’t want it….
approx $57,503,763.30 over 4 years
Based on my 25% calculation.
$14,511,000 year one with annual raises of $1,088,325
$15,599,325 year two
$16,687,650 year three
$17,775,975 year four
Total 4 year deal based on my estimate would be ….
approx $64,573,950
So 4 years $60 million is roughly max. I assume KLove agent can max certain it actually is the max.

I too would like to know what the max is in KLoves case
5 years / max … the only reasonable option unless Kevin wants less to free up salary space (haha).
Question
I understand that teams can only offer 1 player a 5-year deal at the max for the length of that contract. So if Loves signs a 5 year deal RR could not sign a 5 year deal when it’s his turn for an extension.
Anyone know if this is correct? I don’t want to start with “who’s more deserving” (per SnP — NOW is more deserving than the future) but I’m just curious if that is right.
Yes this is correct. So long as anyone is under a designated player max extension from the rookie scale no other player on that team can be given the 5th year.
Any other player would still be eligible for a 4 year max.
