Darko isn't super happy about diminished role
Scroll to the bottom of the linked-to article:
"Center Darko Milicic isn't super happy about his diminished role, especially on offense. But he said he's willing do whatever is asked of him if the team continues to improve. Lately that has meant mainly a defensive role and limited minutes. He did have two steals and three blocks against Sacramento."
Apparently there is some truth to the oft-stated idea that Darko wants his touches on offense and that was part of why Kurt gave him so many.
I am personally not "super-happy" when Darko touches the ball at all on offense. When he has it, my mind begins thinking "Hmm, will it be a turnover or a missed hook this time?"

I'm okay with this.
An honest Darko admits he doesn’t like being limited. A honest and excellent coach realizes the team needs to limit him. The team improves. Darko is willing to do whatever is asked of him.

That does not make two of us, Darko
…Dunk the ball.

he would get more touches if he just dunked the damn ball
He should get a bonus if he shatters a backboard in a game.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
If that doesn't work, cheat.

Absolutely great idea
Darko, I’ll buy you a box of cigs for each Dunk this season. Right now I’ll put the over / under on boxes I’d have to buy at 4.
Once when Darko was a child
His dad caught him smoking cigars. As punishment, he made little Darko dunk an entire case of nerf basketballs so he would never want to dunk again. The end.

You left out
the part about the one-legged hooker and the circus fat lady, but I understand that this is a family-oriented site.
Yo ho ho and a FirstRow stream!
Or...
When he was a child, his dad caught him dunking…

Guard/forward Wes Johnson is clearly frustrated with his shots not falling. To compensate, coaches have been asking him to work on rebounding and defense more as well as trying to get to the basket rather than just taking jumpers.
Is just as important as anything about Darko or Barea returning.
He did make a couple of decent drives the other night
I was actually kind of shocked, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen him take it all the way to the hoop more than once or twice in the past 1+ year. His ineptitude on offense has been amazing. To me more amazing that the poor shooting % is the fact that he has shot 2 free throws all year. How is that even possible!?

I guess the question is
Whether it’s because he can’t drive or because he doesn’t know how to play the wing. I guess we’ll find out, as coaching is no longer an excuse.
Michael Beasley is a Small Forward. Derrick Williams is a Power Forward.
It's possible
When 1) you don’t drive; 2) you shoot a lot of jumpers; and 3) the only person who believes the shot is going in is named Wes Johnson.
I’m sure “force Johnson to take a jumper” is written on every opponent’s pre-game whiteboard.
and 4) never crash the offensive glass and get fouled on putback attempts
I mean seriously, the guy runs like a deer and jumps like a kangaroo. How does he not at least get fouled while in a scrum for the ball!? His issue has as much to do with motor and physicality as it does his shooting and handles. Oh, how I miss the whirling dervishes of Corey Brewer!

I think most of us are super happy in Darko's diminished role
Thank you Rick Adelman.
As long as he sucks it up and is concerned with the team first
He can think whatever he wants. Good job doing your job, Darko.
Jonny "bag o' chips" Flynn is the GOAT
Rick Adelman is awesome.
Darko: I want more offense.
R/A: And your point is? Now go play some damn defense.

Hey Darko...play better
and you will play more.

I like
the increased role of Nikola Pekovic, I think we need to see some of his growth in year 2 before we decide on trading him.

And he's producing!
It seems we’re seeing more good Pek and similar quantities of bad Pek. He still sets moving screens. He still has (one) three second violation.
But he scores in the post. He disrupts the opposing team, and he takes up space. Love and Rubio and, most notably, Wayne Ellington, have made use of his presence.

Ive always read on posts about Pek
that you like him, I as well am a supporter of Pek and want to see atleast 8 to 10 mins a night from him.
Wolves fan in Ohio
If he can play like he did last night
I’d give him 25mpg on our team. In short any time we don’t want love at the 5, we should be rolling Pek out there.
How Darko can earn his minutes
I wrote this for another thread, but it works here.
In regard to Darko, I think he needs to earn his minutes. With a very simple system. He gets to play 30 seconds next game every time he blocks out his man this game. He gets a full minute next game every time he dunks. Maybe he can bank some minutes, say when he earns more than 30 or 35 minutes, but I would say no. Darko, you want to play, do these fundamental things and you will play. Do not, and you do not play much. And it will be harder to earn back the playing time. The plus side of Darko is that he really does want to play more than he wants to go home to the easy life.
I still like my cigarette reward system better
make sue of that nicotine addiction. =) That’s a solid idea though
Hard not to blame him
He starts every half, plays 4 minutes then never plays again. Not many players would be happy with that. (happened to me in middle school sadface) Ofcourse, he only has himself to blame. If he played hard on offense (no post ups but finishing around the basket, offensive boards), he’d earn more time on the floor. It’s hard to keep him out there when his defense isn’t good enough to outweigh his terrible offense. Especially when Pek can provide a big body on D as well.
About Kurt
Darko has made it known that he likes his touches on offense. He’s straight up said before he was going to go back to Europe where he could be the focal point of an offense vs. staying in the NBA, being a strictly defensive player and never touching the ball. At the same time, he got plenty of touches last year and played horribly. If Kurt couldn’t adjust, that’s his fault for trying that hard to appease Darko. (I wouldn’t want to be the one to tell him that he’s getting less touches) It’s a weak excuse to blame Darko for Kurt’s bad coaching.
Wolves fans aren't super happy about diminished Darko.
"Of what use is a philosopher who does not hurt anybody's feelings?" -Diogenes of Sinope
Darko's got nobody to blame but himself for less playing time.
Mentally he’s just not there.
Seems to me, RA has told Darko he is not permitted to shoot unless he is wide open. If he does take any shots apart from dunks he will be yanked from the game. Sadly, Darko is even missing these "gimme" shots (by refusing to dunk them). RA decides he’s seen enough and yanks him from the game. Hence, only 7mins vs Detroit.
Agree with the other posters here, especially Timberwolf i.e. Albatross, TheEvilProfessor, and PoohRubio – Darko if you don’t play with any energy or aggression it’s simple – your role will be so diminished you will be out of the rotation for good. All that is required of you is to play good defense and take the ball strong to the hoop. Do that and you will play.
Yup
Everyone wants Darko to succeed. Even his harshest critics recognize that when his mind is right that he adds an extra dimension to the team defensively.
If Darko wants more touches on offense, he might consider getting a few offensive rebounds and putbacks. He has been so off recently that he has basically forced Adelman to tell him not to shoot.
By the way, what the heck happened to Darko’s outside shot? A couple of games ago, he fired up a 15 foot hook one hander off a sweet pass from Luke as opposed to taking an easy uncontested jumper.
