Bollocks to baby steps!

They are very thin, but this team can win enough games to get that 8th seed this year. That absolutely has to be the goal. There are no moral victories, and there should be no waiting your turn. Go get it.

They're definitely better....

….but it’s a pretty solid example of how this team needs more consistent good performers. Last night they got a career night from Darko to pull out an amazing win. Tonight, not so much.

1 more guy

That’s it. 1 more consistent above average player. I don’t think it has to be on the wing but that would be great. Then guys like Luke, Wayne, and Barea can be killers off the bench and Williams can be brought along nicely.

in fairness SnP.. today the goat was Love..

they got reasonable production from Wes, Wayne, Darko, etc.

by bsg007 on Jan 21, 2012 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

That's fine

Single games with extremes will happen all the time. The more worrisome thing with Love is his rapidly declining 2p%. Trends are what we need to be concerned with. The trend the Wolves have is balls out production from 2 guys, consistent average production from Luke (Wayne is getting there), and hit-and-miss or terrible from everybody else. Last night’s game and tonight’s game kind of even themselves out.

Where do you think this is coming from (rapidly declining 2p%)?

Fatigue/the schedule? Trying to do too much/not trusting teammates? Poor shot selection/playing away from the basket too much?

Yeah.

I should just suck it up and get LP but with season tix (and all that goes along with those), I already open my veins a few times a week and I just can’t stomach it.

It’s a big problem/controversy. Long story short, due to the shortened season, we
lost the second channel that used to televise the games that didn’t make it onto the main network (Fox Sports North) due to college and hockey bullshit.

by PDGirl on Jan 21, 2012 10:33 PM CST up reply actions

I know all of the backstory with that (I didn't make that clear)...

…..and yes it’s a big problem. A stupid problem that the Wolves are doing to themselves. They have a terrific product and have undercut it by not selling it as often as possible to fans who, unless they happen to have the kind of disposable income to fly 600 miles away to attend a game, won’t be able to make the live game.

I could understand not televising home games, but not televising road games? That’s just beyond silly and then some.

My fantasy team? You bet. Also, yes the Kings really suck.

I had the fortune of drafting Eric Gordon and Al Horford in the 1st round. I dropped Mo Williams right before his 2 outbursts for…wait for it….Larry Sanders who has yet to play a minute since I picked him up.

I had Damion James, and had to drop him because of his injury. I almost picked up Marshon Brooks but I decided against it. Whoops.

There are equal amounts of dumb decisions and bad luck. But most of it’s bad luck IMO. Sometimes things go your way, and sometimes things don’t. Every year in a fantasy league there is 1 person who has a fantasy team that just has everything go wrong with it. I think I’m that guy in my league this year. It happens.

I liked reading your thread to see what you said about the Jazz, so here are my thoughts on your team tonight.

I clinched my butt cheeks everytime Rubio had the ball, dude is so good. I saw Kyrie Irving this year, and he was impressive, but Rubio was much better. He controls games already. It’s really impressive.

D Williams looked awesome as well. There is a big drop from him at #2 pick to our #3 pick Kanter (we like his rebounding though).

Love had a bad game, but I’m still a fan. Wesley Johnson looked good as well. bright future in MInnesota. I’m a fan when you’re not playing the Jazz for sure.

ps – Pekovic looks like he should be wearing track suits and cutting people’s thumbs off in eastern Europe.

Hey at least we had to run to get out of boot camp.

What did yall do? Fly a banner and sew on your stripes? :)

Besides you can always ban me for the best of reasons: I'm not a Wolves fan. LOL

You know, so you can keep Hoopus pure or something.

LOL awesome

Did Black Flag mean it was too hot to exercise? (I’m sure hoping that’s what it meant.) Of course, on those black flag days, I loved to run. I’m weird that way actually.

It did

We had a bunch of 100+ heat index days in San Antonio.

I was realllly surprised how easy USAF basic was physically. Push ups, 2 mile runs, and a bunch of walking. Once you can wrap your head around the mental bit, it was kind of tedious. I was on flight crew so SERE schools was much more entertaining. “Advanced Camping” is what we called it. It was the only time I’ve been hit upside the head by another grownup. That was fun.

SERE schools.

I’ve heard of those. The funniest part of boot for me was seeing the guys who aspired to be SEALS who were training to make it to Buds and were exercising in full uniform as if it was both easy and a normal thing to do. I hated those guys. LOL

You clearly were much more of a physical freak than I ever was or could be.A number of people often underestimate the difference between being big (which I am) and being a freak (which I am not). There are a lot of skinny guys in the special forces who have ridiculous amounts of strength and endurance that only a cheetah or fish could possess. (Or something like it.)

I knew this guy in Pensacola who was a guy who made it through (I think) 3/4 of Buds on 16% of his lung capacity. For medical reasons (I’m assuming it was insanity but it might have been the whole breathing issue), they let this guy go. This guy came to PCola to become a CT (I think) and he was friends with a guy who lived in my barracks room. They worked out together or some such. I don’t really remember all the details. Anyway, this guy went out and did a 10K after a night of drinking and smoking. And this is not a few beers and cigarettes. This is getting shitfaced for 6-8 hours while going through at least a pack (probably 2 at the rate this guy was drinking) of cigarettes. Oh, and he did all this on 4 hours sleep after the smoking/drinking.

I had one friend who routinely got so pissy ass drunk while going to strip clubs and then would run at least 4 or 5 miles to feel better in the morning. COMPLETELY HUNGOVER. (When I’m in that kind of hangover, I can only think about feeling like shit and possibly eating a few bites of a Subway sandwich. But it takes all kinds I suppose.) He was a roly poly piece of shit and you would have never guessed that he could run like the wind.

These are the guys who make special forces. Until you see it up & close personal, you don’t realize it. Freaks man. I still shake my head when I think of those 2 guys I just talked about.
