“Theres no place like home”

10 – 6

Can someone explain the +/- thing to me

I don’t get it. I know it has to do with gambling but that’s about it.

90% of the crap I say on here is sarcastic

It is the line

So do Houston + 2.5 points win or do the Wolves -2.5 points win?

Lets say Minnesota wins by >3 points then the people who bet Minn -2.5 win.But if Minn win by <2 or Houston wins, then the people who bet Houston +2.5 win.

The greater disparity in expected result, the larger the “line” margin.

Hope that helps

its a handicap

Vegas thinks wolves are 2.5 points better than rockets at home. The points even the bet. If you like MN you need to give away 2.5, so you only win if they “cover” the points.
They also have “money line” betting where all Wolves have to do is win but you are giving up (in this case) odds. As an example you may risk $130 to win $100. If you bet a heavy dog to win you may risk $100 to win $200. All odds vary based on how heavily teams are favored.

The easiest way to explain it....

Take the final score. Add the + amount to the team that has that and whatever team comes out on top with that wins the bet.

Wolves 91, Rockets 90 could be the final score.

But if you bet on the Rockets +2.5, technically the score would be Wolves 91, Rockets 93.5 according to the spread (the line).

On the other side, Wolves need to win by 3 to win for a bettor taking the Wolves since there is no half points.

Simplest way of wording it

Is the Wolves are favored to win by 2.5 points.

what are the "odds" McHale gets bood?

I’ll once again take Wolves.

???

Only if it’s Canis Hoopus night at Target Center.

Average fans like McHale. Yes, these would be the same people who didn’t show up for games when he was our coach.

I think this is the first time in history one man managed to destroy an entire city by himself. Even the Enola Gay had a flight crew.

Goes to show

this is a fan site. Probably a bad idea to wager on your home squad. A better bet might be Magic -4 @ Celtics.

by Stabby Stabby on Jan 23, 2012 1:55 PM CST reply actions

that would be a good bet

I’m at 7-5 and I only picked against the Wolves in the Chicago game.

by zebano on Jan 23, 2012 2:10 PM CST up reply actions

Im 0-2 picking against the wolves

And we are 5th in the league against the spread. This game is a bit tough since we have not done as well when favored though. So its actually not a bad idea at all, I mean 10-6 is pretty respectable against the spread.
