Timberwolves Draft Assets
I apologize up front if this is on the site somewhere, but I was interested in exactly what trade assets the Wolves currently had. My source is http://www.prosportstransactions.com/basketball/DraftTrades/Future/Timberwolves.htm and Real GM. There were a number of choices for the formatting here, none are perfect, but perhaps your comments can suggest a better way to look at this.

2017
a. Wolves 1st
b. Wolves 2nd
The other interesting item here is that the Wolves could have anywhere from 1-4 picks in the 2012 draft. They could have the Jazz 1st and the Wolves', Rockets', and Thunder's 2nd. For the Wolves to lose their own pick, though, they'd have to win it all or finish with a top five record. The Houston pick is probably not likely, as the Rockets would have to finish with a bottom 10 record. I think they'll make the lottery, but it will be as one of the best records...they're a lot better than most team that will be in the lottery. Still, the Wolves, Jazz, GSW, and maybe one of Phoenix or an East team could all finish ahead of Houston, thereby gifting the Rockets' 2nd to Minnesota.
My opinion for the 2012 draft is that the Wolves keep their own 2nd, get OKC's 2nd,, and miss on Utah's 1st and Houston's 2nd. I'm crossing my fingers I'm wrong about Utah, though.
Please provide comments, corrections, and suggestions. I made a substantial edit to this post wrt the Hayward trade, so that explains why the first number of comments might not seem to make sense. Thank you to BeasieBong for the Real Gm link.

2nd rounders from OK
“the Thunder will keep the picks if they are 46-60 in the 2012 and 2013 drafts. The Thunder must send them to Minnesota if they are 30-45. " per the beat writer for the Thunder, which jibes with what I remember as well.
In other words
We got nothing. Not that I mind “nothing” so much as I mind Kahn not being up front about it.

Another comment
Jerry Zgoda’s one job, from what I can tell, is to follow the Wolves. Did he not ask for or provide this information?
Also, I assume the OKC beat writer didn’t mix up 30-45 (sic) with 46-60.

In fairness, I think Jerry may have mentioned the specifics on his blog too
but frankly, 99% of the people who read the sports don’t care about the protection details on future 2nd round draft picks for the local bad NBA team. Even the OKC guy only mentioned it as a response, on his blog, to a specific question.
I've gone back to Jerry's posts and not found it
At least in the blog entries with Lazar+Hayward+trade+zgoda

Is this the first time ever...
… that I have seen reverse pick protection in place? (I.e., “If we’re good, we keep the picks; if we suck, we give the picks up.”) Maybe I’m forgetting something here, but that arrangement seems odd enough to warrant double-checking.
How do you almost guarantee that you give up nothing?
When you inarguably have one of the top five teams, I suppose that’s how. Even if Durant missed all next season, I suspect they wouldn’t get in the top half.

I think DM may have gotten that mixed up
I remember that we get the 2012 no matter what, and if the 2012 is 46-60, we get the 2013 pick as well. If the 2012 pick is 31-45, then we don’t get the 2013 pick.
Per Real GM
It kinda vibes with what TheH says above.
Perhaps I should reserve judgment on David Kahn
Until I know the facts. Probably a good policy anyway in life. Real GM states that if it’s 47-60 in 2012, Minnesota receives OKC’s 2nd in 2013.
